GG had sneakers on because you cannot get into the water at that location without them. It's impossible to walk in that water barefooted because of all the rocks. They are not flat river rocks they are rocks that jet up from the bottom making walking dangerous and I would think one would be off balance until you could get out into deeper water which is quite a way out.

GG claims they were in 10 to 15 foot water at 6pm. The sun is already low in the sky to the northwest and he wants everyone to believe that they could actually see 10 to 15 foot below. No wonder the Aruban authorities think his story is full of holes, because it is. I've gone into the water at Eagle Beach at 5pm at night and once you get waist deep you can't see anything clearly in the water at that time.

The southern most portion where Baby Beach is located faces Venezuela and not the open ocean. This is the beachy side of the western portion of Aruba where a body would be expected to wash back onto the shore and the investigators fully expected this to happen if she went in where GG said she did. The eastern shoreline faces the open ocean. Only Curacao is on the eastern side but basically the open ocean faces that side. jmo

I know this was said in the Geraldo inteview:

One of the 3 of them GG, JB, or GR in that Geraldo show said that they went into the water to feed the fish.

That might not be so far from the truth...if Robyn's body was left in the water.

Fish don't like vodka. I know that for a fact.

Plus she cut her toe. Was he planning on feeding her to the sharks? If he is such a seasoned snorkeler he would have know how dangerous it is to get into the water with blood. It was on her towel lying on the ground so one can only assume it was right before getting into the water if he was telling the truth and she entered the water there. Was he so impaired by alcohol that he was not able to think logically or was it part of his plan? It has to be one or the other. He can't just say....well, you know, I really didn't think about the blood issue. I'm not a snorkeler and I know better. Hey....thanks for the information about the Geraldo show. jmo

Um, so is a "lawyer consultant" considered to actually be GG's lawyer? I thought I also heard him referred to as that in the interview and in news articles.

I haven't read the entire group of postings regarding the show/program, so I don't know if this was discussed or not:

This case has something to do with GG's camera and the "beyond pornographic" images of Robyn, as said in the news, plus all of the evidence leading up to the disappearance that GG and RG met on an "adult" website.

IMO, one of the manipulations in this interview was to have the 3 children present hearing everything. That way, RF was prevented from discussing any sexual content pertaining to this case. If he had brought it up, they would have accused him of subjecting children to this material.

Um, so is a "lawyer consultant" considered to actually be GG's lawyer? I thought I also heard him referred to as that in the interview and in news articles.

What is the difference? Is there even a difference? Don't you go to an attorney to consult him? JB still is not licensed in MD. And GG refers to him as his attorney and does not speak of anyone else representing him. Are there some issues here? It is one thing if GG were from Florida and flew to NYC and JB was with him. But GG is from Maryland and are the laws different there? JB hardly knew the laws in Florida evidenced by the judge constantly informing him of what the law was, not the law according to JB.

GG shows continuous bad judgment. Offering to split the insurance money with his Aruban attorney. He actually admitted that. How would the attorney even know about the insurance unless the attorney asked him how he planned to pay for his fees? That was not what he should have been concerned about. I mean, really, think about it. This man can't tell a straight story if his life depended on it. And at 50 years old GG sought out a personal injury attorney the next day. He was entitled to an attorney but in hindsight it now seems suspicious. jmo

Jose Baez will feature very prominantly in the defense of the released man and taking into account Jose Baez's tenacity, and the fact that there is no evidence, the chances are that Mr Baez will secure a non conviction, but it is doubtful it will even go to court based on the hearsay evidence thus presented.
The only evidence that has been forthcoming is dominated by talking heads giving their take on the case.

Uhmm... we have been discussing the recent interviews GG and Baez have been on. This is not hearsay.... not when it is coming directly from his mouth... Most of the posts being discussed are related to GG's interviews as of late, and as a matter of fact I can't find one post where anyone has even so much as mentioned a "talking head", except for the one with the two toned, bad toupe that is yapping away and making zero sense. IMO!

What does IMO mean ?

I would say so ... at least he is in this photo

He is smiling, or at least smirking. How long after the 'accident' was this picture taken?

Jose Baez will have more appearances, the public demands it and he is not one to disappoint.
Besides he is paid handsomely by these talking heads despite what they say.

Where in the world do you get that the public demands it? Show me, please, one instance of the public showing any interest, whatsoever, in seeing Baez. People want to hear from GG and Baez is just along for the ride. He doesn't care who's been murdered, if he can make money off them, he will. I think most people are over him and could care less. I loved when he went to hug Barbara Walters and she said, "Don't do it" LOL Owned!

But this is off topic - the thread is about Robyn Gardner and GG. There are forums here you can go to if you'd like to talk about JB though.

If charges were brought they would be either in Federal Court or the State of Maryland. JB is not licensed to practice in any other state but Florida. jmo

Per Wiki (I know: beware), admission to appear in federal court is merely a matter of completing an application and paying a fee. There is no separate bar exam.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Admission_to_the_bar_in_the_United_States#Federal_courts

That link also lists other exceptions whereby a lawyer from one state may apply to practice in another state on a specific matter. Some states have reciprocity, but Florida's state bar web page says it has no such agreements with other states.

But all that might mean in the event that GG is charged in Maryland is that he would have to take on a local co-counsel to help with the trial. As I've said elsewhere, I've worked any number of cases where a large New York or L.A. law firm collaborated with local counsel in order to meet local bar requirements.

(ETA disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer; I've just worked for a lot of lawyers and I can read English.)

In My Opinion

There seems to be many IMO's here, which means it is an opinion, not a fact.
I should imagine that JMO has a similiar meaning as well.

They do not all lie about innocent people, accusing them of incest and child abuse , in order to set their guilty client free.

My father, God rest his soul, was a wonderful defense attorney. He was quite successful and quite well respected, even by prosecutors. Reason being, he had integrity and was honest and forthright. So Baez, in comparison, makes me sick.

In GG's case, Baez is acting more like a PR guy.He sits next to him on the media blitz, and tries to steer him clear of his own mistakes. Too late for that, imo.

Thank you, katy. I'm sorry about the apparent miscarriage of justice in the CA case, but posters are wrong that all defense lawyers encourage illegal and unethical behavior.

My husband worked for a well-respected post-graduate defense lawyer training institute, so I had access to their textbooks, videos and was even allowed to attend some seminars. There was not a word in any of them about telling a client to lie, or about doing anything else to violate a defense attorney's obligation as an officer of the court.

In fact, the emphasis of the training was on telling the defendant's story more honestly and clearly.

I think police sent him back to the hotel to sober up at about 8:30 (not 100% sure about the time), so that photo was probably taken within 2 hours of reporting that Robyn disappeared while snorkeling.

Was just looking for pictures of the shore at Nanki Beach and came across this: GG on the beach after reporting Robyn missing. His hair looks like he was swimming or doing something to mess up his toupee style.

Thanks for HatesSociopaths for the image - posted here ages ago.

Here is a link to pictures of the beach. The rocks appear rounded, not sharp and jagged, as one would expect from rocks exposed to salt water waves.

otto, there are plenty of beaches here in California that are covered with smooth, round rocks. I'm not arguing your point about salt water, but one reason why rocks wear smoothly or sharply is the composition of the rocks, not the water.

You're assuming that Baez has become GG's sidekick because he is acting as his lawyer. Given the "exclusive" with ABC and the known fact that Baez likes to sell criminal suspects to the media, Baez could be acting as his agent - in which case all the underhanded stunts that we saw from Baez during his last court performance would be fair game. I suspect that we'll see a real lawyer step up to the plate in the event that GG is facing criminal charges in Maryland.

He does not look like someone who just lost their traveling companion to me. But he does look like someone who is thinking about cashing their million dollar beneficiary check.
