She was too. As soon as she found out her Daughter was missing she caught the next flight out, the same day!!! She was desperate like any normal Mother would be.

Nah.

Suggest you check the facts.

I know. Just saying that you are also talking about other cases.

Nope.

I was replying to certain posts about other cases. :innocent:

Ambien is used to get high
I am not saying Robyn used it for that purpose, but many do.

Nonmedical use of zolpidem is increasingly common in U.S.A, Canada, and the UK. Street names for the drug include Abee'ss, Amee's, and Amb'zz. Recreational users report that "fighting" the hypnotic effects of the drug while forcing themselves to stay awake can cause vivid visuals and a body high.[57] Some users have reported decreased anxiety, mild euphoria, perceptual changes, visual distortions, and hallucinations.[58]

Zolpidem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yes, I know idiots use it to try and get high, but as one who takes them for insomnia, and has a prescription for them, I can tell you that drinking vodka and juice....or any alcoholic beverage, will net you about five minutes of the "mild euphoria - 8 hours of decreased anxiety, and total visual distortions after 30 minutes. The hallucinations? No clue, I've never taken more than 12 mg at a time. It's like saying people use sominex to party on - they have the same effect, only in prescription form. I remember when I was in my late teens and everyone was getting high on mandrax and qualudes - all I saw were a bunch of jack wagons laying around slobbering on themselves. Fun times.

If Robyn had a prescription, LE would be able to tell how many she took by the date and amount of pills missing. That is, of course, unless GG took some out to set up his story. I defy anyone here to take an ambien, 10mg or more, slam down a couple of gin and juices, and then try to have a fun-filled day at the beach - ain't happening.

is there a video of R & G on the beach?

  • #225
-respectfully snipped a bit by me-

No I went with the scenario that is believed here that the Fisherman had no reason to lie, Giordano was so drunk he could not speak etc.

I do not believe that, but if you do believe it you cannot also believe the 1,5 million dollar motive.

Where does this claim come from?

Since he owns a car I am sure he is aware of the alcohol/drugs clause.

I don't believe GG ever said he was drunk. He claims he was drinking moderately but admits to drinking. Those who were sober claimed he was acting as if he were drunk. Who would be the better judge and has nothing to lose? jmo

In the Natalee Holloway case there were many things said by Americans that made no sense whatsoever and continue to be said..
Like Joran killed Natalee?

If ever there was an example of media manipulation as well as forum distortion, the Natalee Holloway case reigns supreme.

I'd ask for examples, but that would be off topic.

The end result is that by the time the actual facts became known, it was too late to act upon them
Please, meet me on the Natalee Holloway forum and tell me more, my interest is piqued.

Does not change the fact that GG had tried to collect. JB claims the personal injury attorney wanted 1/3 of the insurance money. Sound like he expected to get that money. jmo

He did not try to collect. He called the insurance to inform them of the situation and asked if costs made regarding the search for Robyn were covered by the insurance.
Robyn's mother was not there yet, it would be only logical if he assumed the police may want him to stay longer, he would have to change his flight, book a prolong his stay at the hotel etc.
Him contacting the insurance company over this does not equal cashing in, that is what the media made of it; Giordano cashing in, Giordano changing toupees, Giordano and Robyn fighting at the lobby etc etc.

so the story of the person who answered his call and thought it was strange and called LE was not true.

Nah.

Suggest you check the facts.
Natalee's mother has ALWAYS fought the fight...to this day she has not given up on finding Natalee - just as most mothers (see difference betwixt incubator and mother), who care about their children.

Robyn's mother flew to Aruba as well. I feel so bad for these two women who have to feel the pain of not knowing where there child is - waking up and putting one foot in front of the other every day must be sheer hell on earth. I would never want to be in their shoes.

Pop was referring to a post of mine. I mentioned Natalee Holloway only because thousands of pages were posted here by Americans about Aruba; in none of them that I recall did the phrase "human trafficking" refer to transporting illegal immigrants.

So the fault was mine, but I wasn't comparing cases. I was simply referring to the only other instance I've encountered where thousands of Americans discussed how women may go missing from Aruba.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a reputable source that suggests human slavery is a significant problem in Aruba? It's a nice idea to toss around when your date disappears, but do we have any hardcore info?

Here's a transcript of an interview with Greta Van Susteren and Ambassador Mark Lagon, Sr. Advisor to the Secretary of State, regarding human trafficking in Aruba.

Human Trafficking: A Closer Look at a Growing Worldwide Problem
Published December 02, 2008
FOXNews

<snip>

Dec. 1, 2008

VAN SUSTEREN: Is there any record or history of actual trafficking through Aruba?

LAGON: There is. Aruba, being small, is not ranked in our report, but there are cases. Admittedly, much of the pattern seems to be going to Aruba. But it is quite conceivable that trafficking from Aruba is possible.

VAN SUSTEREN: In Aruba, do you find that the policemen are willing to look at the problem? Are they honest, thorough, good, or does our state department have any problem with the law enforcement in Aruba?

LAGON: I am not in a position to give a really good assessment of that. But it is a region in which, in Latin America, corruption and lack of efficacy and law-enforcement is serious.

VAN SUSTEREN: We have some been dealing with the Natalee Holloway case, and you are not part of this investigation, but we have some information that we would like them to look at. But there is an unwillingness to even look at what we have. Do you find that unusual?

LAGON: Everyone should be open to the opportunity to look at evidence, because the possibility of trafficking in this region is serious.

VAN SUSTEREN: What do these women say, and I don't know if you have ever spoken to them or talked to people who have been the victim of trafficking-everyone says why don't you just walk away? I have talked to them, and I know what-but what to do here?

LAGON: The definition of human trafficking by law and under U.N. treaties involved force, fraud, and coercion.

In general prostitution, there is a lot of violence and manipulation by pimps. And in the situation of the human trafficking it is terribly acute.
Oftentimes people are kept in a brothel and cannot leave. They are living and being exploited in the same place. Their traffickers get them into debt. They make them afraid that if they run they will only be treated like a criminal.

VAN SUSTEREN: I take it then that you are not dismissive of the possibility that this could have happened to Natalee Holloway?

LAGON: I'm not. The flow of human trafficking through this region is significant. Rule of law is lacking. Where there are even laws, like in Aruba, they are not well implemented. It is quite possible that this is happening on a significant scale. So you really can't reject out of hand that idea.

VAN SUSTEREN: Ambassador, thank you.

LAGON: Pleasure.

Do you have links showing he did not try and collect. Because everything Ihave read says the opposite.

ORANJESTAD, Aruba - Investigators have been told that just two days after an American tourist was reported missing in Aruba, her travel companion tried to collect on a $1.5 million accidental-death insurance policy he took out on her, The Associated Press has learned.
A person who provided information to authorities told the AP that Gary V. Giordano, now detained on the Caribbean island, bought the insurance specifically for his five-day getaway with Robyn Gardner. The person did not have authorization to publicly release the information and agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity.
Aruban authorities previously confirmed that Giordano had an insurance policy that covered the missing woman, but withheld details, including who the beneficiary is or whether Giordano tried to collect. Solicitor General Taco Stein late Thursday confirmed to the AP that the coverage was in the amount of $1.5 million.

It was JB that let that big old cat out of the bag. Out of his own mouth JB said that GG agreed to give the personal injury attorney 1/3 of the insurance payout. He went to a personal injury attorney not a criminal attorney and they discussed the insurance he had on RG. We only have GG saying the only reason he called was to discuss paying for searching for RG. The Holloways were never charged why would GG be charged for searching. Plus the agent reported GG sounded like he'd own the lottery. That sounds like he was discussing a payoff.

I could see GG going to an just a regular attorney for advice but a personal injury. Why would anyone do that when they take 1/3 off the top for fees? Why, personal injury attorneys also do wrongful death. He knew RG's mother was coming. jmo

I swear, you learn something new every day - would you please source this for me? Seriously, poor misguided GG - he actually thought he was going to have to incur the expense of Aruba searching for a missing person.

You know, it occurs to me that maybe, IMO, he was lying about her being alive the last time he saw her, and knew the search was futile. If so, then perhaps he learned something from another famous case where a mother claimed her child was missing, when she knew she was dead, and had to pay back the tax payers the cost of the wild goose chase searches. It's a thought...IMO

Well I really wouldn't know
just going by the ambien websight and all of the other posts that have been posted here early in this case
can't remember the posters who enlightened me , but it was an education

This guy took R to Aruba for one purpose..he wanted money and he needed her gone to get it..nothing more, nothing less...It is a simple case to me.he screwed up in many ways and got caught..I don't think he will ever get that money-JMO

The only thing I can not understand is..why his father hired JB,knowing he could not practice in Aruba!

That information didn't come from any sort of official source though, it came from some anonymous person who claimed to know details. That doesn't make it corrrect and certainly not verified. Simply being reported in a news source doesn't make it any more believable. It would be different if the insurance company or the prosecutor who was making that allegation, but as far as we know they have not.
