Vlpate, just using your post as a jumping off point,K?
Yep, that is the bottom line of this discussion isn't it??
Why if ALE found" MAJOR in consistancies in his account" they waited until the last minute to detain him is beyond me. I mean what lightbulb went off minutes before he left?? Actually we can argue about those until the cows come home, but the fact is ALE has not provided us with specifics, therefore those willing to use those "inconsistancies" as their explaination for everthing guilty about GG, must use their "imagination" and we know how that works.
What makes you think they waited until the last minute? He had an attorney who will not discuss the case because of confidentiality. If GG were telling the truth he could give his attorney permission to back up his story. Instead from GG's first attorney, ML, we hear...."my client knows what the truth is." Not too hard to figure out that what GG is saying ML might not agree with. Since GG admits he spoke to his attorney about leaving and claims he was told to go ahead and he is the only source for this information it leads one to believe his attorney may have told him not to leave. LE clearly was not through with their questioning of him and he took off in a hurry thinking he could get out of there on the first flight leaving.
So what was his hurry? He had enough points to stay more days at the hotel until LE was finished with their questions. Did he not owe that to Robyn at least???? It appears they would call him in regarding something he stated that was inconsistent with facts they investigated and he would come up with another story which would, then again, have to be investigated. I think that is were the inconsistencies come in to play. Having little knowledge of the island and the currents in particular I think he back himself into a whole. If he had been telling the truth everything important would have been able to be substantiated. These are the inconsistencies that LE claims GG had made. They can't match his story with what they know is fact.
They would not have arrested him at that point had he not become a flight risk. Had he asked they may have let him go. At the point he decided he was leaving on his own, whether his attorney called LE and they said he should stay a few more days or no one called and told LE he was leaving, the minute he tried to leave without asking them they had a right to arrest him. I have a feeling his attorney was told he needed to stay a few more days and GG panicked.
ALE does not have to share their information with the public. They don't have a "Sunshine Law". BUT, they did share it with the FBI. My guess is ALE shared that reenactment video with the US. JB has never come forward and stated his client has been cleared by the FBI. We won't hear from them either until they have finished their investigation. And, IMO, the FBI is in no rush. So we will have to wait and see. jmo
