It is not going to be AJ ...?

I'm still with the mindset that although AJ is a terrible sick individual his crimes are less extreme and double murder seems too far. He is more a dodgy hardened criminal then a psychopath IMO.

Yes you might be onto something!
Are there prison records we can search ? Guessing it'll be moot soon as the police will release his name.

Another thing that's "odd".

Police have stated that the dumping of Karlie's body in Belangalo Forest might be an attempt to make it look like another Milat killing.
That makes sense. That seems like the action of a logical person.

Yet the person who thought that scheme up and carefully removed any evidence that might assist in identifying Karlie's body for over 5 years just doesn't seem like the same sort of person who dumped the suitcase.

After all, what finally cracked the identification was the quilt and the pink dress that was with the child's body in the suitcase.

It's odd that one murder was so carefully concealed deep in the bush, and yet the other, which would frankly have been much easier to conceal due to the tiny skeleton, seems almost to have been intentionally left to be found surrounded by abundant clues close to a road.

Surely there has to be 2 different people with different motives involved here. Doesn't there?

Wow!!! I actually ran this exact scenario through my head today!. What puts me off though is the brutal death of both. To care for the child and want to be her parent is one thing but to brutally kill her is another.

Yes I agree the child was still brutally murdered and unfortunately the belongings being place with the child I believe is because it's evidence linked to the 2 not necessarily because of more care.

Fairfax Media has learnt that investigators in both states have made rapid progress in the investigation and have identified a male suspect.

It is understood the man is in custody in a NSW jail, serving a prison sentence for unrelated offences.

Yup. I read that before I posted that I think a woman is involved.
A man may be the killer of one or both though.
Dysfunctional couple?

The suitcase was probably kept somewhere simply to hide the evidence then when incarcerated he freaked out and got a mate to get rid of it and the mate did an awful job? That's the simplest explanation I can think of.

Was it ever made clear that the suitcase hadn't been sitting there longer than when suitcase man was seen? What if he had nothing to do with khandalyce suitcase and it had been there for years hidden behind scrub before someone brought it to the edge of the road?

If they find suitcase man (and he's not the killer) is he now an accessory to murder?

yeah exactly froglady... Is suitcase man even real?

Don't know lol. I thought at one point police said they didn't think he was. Can't remember that far back... Can't remember lunch :/

Yep, exactly! Two different people, second one did the bare minimum, and failed HUGE! They shouldn't have too much problem finding him and yes, accessory after the fact, or states witness with a plea deal.

I have often thought that suitcase man doesn't exist.

One of the POIs in the William Tyrrell case, who happens to be in jail right now. He's a pedophile and experienced burglar among other things.

in answer to seabreeze about who is aj

'NT Police Assistant Commissioner Jamie Chalker provided further information on the report.“It is known that Karlie’s mother raised a missing persons report on 4 September, 2009, in Alice Springs and normal initial investigation inquiries at that time indicated signs of active life,” he said.
“It was understood that Karlie had travelled interstate with her daughter and that family contact had been intermittent.
“The investigation was subsequently filed on 10 September, 2009, after Karlie’s mum withdrew her concern as she advised that she had received contact from Karlie, that she was safe and did not want further contact.”"

So there we have it. Mum was contacted by Karlie in Sept 2009 according to NT Police.
That puts the murders later than previously thought.
