I don't think there would have been plants in it. Just remains with clothes on top. Maybe in the back of a shed or whatever. It wouldn't have to be somewhere you would visit.

Why someone would want to keep something like that?
It would be the ultimate way to scare the crap out of anyone, wouldn't it.
You talk, you die. You mess up, you die. Mom messed up, she died (I think karlie wanted out of whatever she was entangled in). And this is her kid. If anyone can do that to an innocent 2 year old, you believe them you could be next.

Great thoughts. A symbolic warning to others is not a motive I have previously considered. What a terrifying idea!

Cruel horror of little girl’s violent end

A LONELY road. A dusty case. And the cruel horror of a little girl’s violent end. ANDREW RULE reports on the sad mystery gripping a tiny town.

August 16th

Thanks Amee. That article is from August of this year, prior to Karlie and Khandalyce being identified. Very disturbing to read that again in view of what we now know.

There are some odities here:

http://www.ntnews.com.au/news/north...in-alice-springs/story-fnk0b1zt-1227628880455

1. "The NT News can reveal that when Holdom met Ms Pearce-Stevenson in Alice Springs and they began a relationship, he had been working as a car detailer in the town."

Yet KP clearly knew HP already since HP had taken her daughter to the car show months earlier. Does that mean HP had not yet introduced Karlie to DH?

2. "Ms Passmore was recovering from serious injuries sustained in a car crash near Marla in which two of her children were killed."

This also seems to me to be linking the time DH and KP met as being after the crash.

3. "The pair had met through a mutual group, which Ms Harris said shared the attributes of “unfortunate circumstances”."

What on earth does that mean?
Are we to take this group to be something official such as counselling group, or a social group.
That's strange wording IMO.

I always thought Karlie met DH through HP, but this article seems to imply that DH and Karlie met later (through the unfortunate circumstances group), and independent of HP, even though they both already knew her.

'The Advertiser can reveal that when Holdom met Ms Pearce-Stevenson in Alice Springs and they started a relationship, he had been working as a car detailer in town. Ms Passmore was recovering from serious injuries sustained in a car crash near Marla in which two of her children were killed. Holdom was the driver. The pair had met through a mutual group, which Ms Harris said shared the attributes of “unfortunate circumstances”.

at least we can know that's why he had an ABN calling himself a 'car detailer'..

This whole relationship of Karlie, and Holdom seemed to move so fast, ... and it was a very short relationship, it seems.. Yet Passmore seems to know Karlie before her accident, hence the pic of Khandalyce at the car show. ( August 2008 ) .

The car accident is on Sept 15 2008 and ( Holdom is , after this date, to all purpose, a single guy as Hazel is in hospital ) Detectives say Karlie was murdered in December 14 /15 2008. . so that is a mere 12 weeks from go to whoa. Twelve weeks ,peoples.

September 15th 2008.. the car accident. . Holdom is the driver, 2 of Hazels children are killed, Hazel is rendered a paraplegic.

It therefore seems that after Sep 15th, Holdum would have joined this 'mutual group', that was formed of people in, or with 'unfortunate circumstances. ' .. I can see why Holdom has joined this group. I don't know what Karlie's 'unfortunate circumstances' would precisely consist of.. single motherhood? family dispute? I don't know.

It is strange that Holdom is , in September, ( although it could be October, I am giving it the longest stretch possible. ) suffering the effects of an 'unfortunate circumstance,' and 12 weeks ( it could be shorter, if he joined this group later) he is murdering Karlie. A fellow sufferer. This whole scenario just has so many questions that could be raised.

If Hazel knew Karlie before the accident, it isn't improbable that he knew Karlie before the accident too, and the meeting at the 'Unfortunate Circumstances ' group was serendipity, a re introduction and a lighting of the spark that convinces Karlie to join Holdum in his travels..

By December 14th 2008.. lets say ,10 weeks into the relationship, just for today's post, it could have been 2 or 3 weeks shorter, Holdom has left his job as a car detailer in Alice Springs as is I don't know what in Canberra, and is residing somewhere in Canberra, Karlie has left Alice, gone to Adelaide, travelled 5,200 kms in November alone at a cost of $620 approx., I don't know about October 2008 , could be the same distance and cost , on a Single Parent's payment, has gone down to Mt Gambier, bought a suitcase, and gone across to Canberra.

And by 12 weeks after the accident that wrecked Hazel, and say, 10 weeks after she is reacquainted with Holdom at the Unfortunates Club, Karlie is dead, and carefully hidden , for years , in the Belanglo Forest, and shortly thereafter, Khandalyce is dead and carefully hidden for years, we know not where at this point in time.

One way to look at this is, Holdom kills two children ( by accident ) in September 2008, kills Karlie December 2008 and kills Khandalyce 'a short time after'.. probably late December 2008. That is quite the score, really.

I'm thinking the "unfortunate circumstances group" is AlAnon, NarcAnon maybe? Could possibly have been "court appointed" or in personal preparation of a court appearance for either of them - obviously as criminal past is sub judice this just a wild theory...

I was considering those kind of Group things, Wolf.. or some sort of prayer group.. I know that sounds unlikely, but some courts are peculiarly inclined that way. And it doesn't necessarily take a court thingy.. 'unfortunate circumstances' implies some sort of trauma, drama, something hard to carry, at the very least.. however, I think it is significant only in that both were attending it, who knows for how long , and suddenly, Karlie is off in the car, on the big road trip looking for work outside the NT , with a tiny 2yr old , no money and no qualifications that I can find , so, it must have been a powerful group to provoke this.. you could say, what ever message this 'group' promoted, it certainly had an effect.

The unfortunate circumstances group could be the group of people grieving HPs lost children.

HP & KP knew each other through their children maybe. A circle of friends (new and old) could have developed around the tragedy.

I am thinking the phrase 'unfortunate circumstances' and mention of a group in these 'unfortunate circumstances' could be centred around drugs. MOO

Maybe with the assistance of a professional counsellor - hence the group?

Whatever 'unfortunate circumstances' both Karlie and Holdom thought they were in back in September, 2008 or October, 2008 it certainly bore no resemblance to the 'unfortunate circumstances ' that followed very quickly from this encounter come December 2008

It's a bit open to interpretation, isn't it?

Personally, I am inclined to think the group relates to grief counselling.
DH and KP seem to have known HP and he family independent or one another.
It makes sense to me that in such horrific circumstances, people bond together in mutual grief.
I could see a friendship developing under those circumstances, especially if they were also both visiting HP in rehab.

BBM: Interesting! This is the first time I've read that the woman in the wheelchair was actually pictured impersonating Karlie.

Thanks Makara. This article also reports 2 other "facts" that I haven't seen before ..

1. the police as confirming that they believe that Khandalyce was murdered a month after Karlee.I may have missed this earlier but I had been working on "shortly after" and I did not realise it was this long... and I am not sure I want to think about it and
2. That Hazel was paralysed in the accident (no mention of the obviously missing leg?). Paraplegia and an amputation (+ what ever other horrible injuries we don't know about) would mean she was out of action for a considerable time post MVA. Doesn't exclude her as an accessory/ fraud etc, but if true is significant.

I'd be inclined to give this a nod, KG.. I hardly think it would be a group involved in grief counselling or something similar.. not with the driver of the car that killed the kids in the group . That would have to be some sort of religious forgiveness group, some sort of Pentecostal tongue talking handwaving miracle hoping thingy, to make that work... unlikely, in my opinion.

Makara..

Detectives revealed that a woman in a wheelchair had been pictured impersonating Ms Pearce-Stevenson at the Australian Central Credit Union in Elizabeth in June 2010 and successfully managed to update her banking records.

That is the first time I have ever heard of that event being pictured.. could that be true? is that possible? do banks hang on to the CCTV for that long? that's 6 years.... I am truly astonished if that is the case!!..

True.
I think we had assumed that they must have cctv images, otherwise how could they say the woman was in a wheelchair? A teller is unlikely to remember.
But if they have images, does that make it less likely it was HP?
Even if facial features were not clear, you'd think some detail of the wheelchair or something that would serve to identify the woman.
If it could be identified as HP why hasn't she been charged?

LE can take their time with the fraud charges. I'm pretty sure HP will be a "star" witness. There's a trade off coming....

I took it to mean that Karlie just got mixed up with the wrong crowd, which more than likely involved drugs.

I don't know who 'we' is, in this context.. I have never heard or seen any post at all about CCTV of the female impersonator in the wheelchair entering the bank with Karlie's ID, or Centrelink.. the most agreement was, a note on the file saying the customer had attended in a wheelchair pushed by a carer.. that was about it. No one ever proposed that any CCTV had lasted this distance,.... 6 years? it doesn't seem feasible, and I, personally, don't believe it has, actually.. I think this could be a bit of overenthusiasm of the press. I don't know where any small branch of a bank would store 6 years worth of CCTV, for one thing ,and that means they would have to store lots of fresh tape and have an officer specialising in recording every customer of every day , every day the bank opened all year, every year... I just don't see it happening..
