Trevor Shaw told Herald Sun he was glad Mr Wilkinson had been making progress.

'It took great joy to us as a fellowship and those who loved him that he is back home,' he said.

'Everyone in this community and even the outskirts have felt and been praying seriously on their knees about his recovery.

'And those prayers have been answered, he's home. It's still in progress, but what a wonderful thing.'

Mr Shaw said the community hoped to find closure soon as they waited for the results of the police investigation.

if the Police thought EP was a danger to anyone they would already have taken action.
Well she’s either killed 3 people or she hasn’t.

She cooked the meal, she didn’t eat the meal. 3/4 people who ate the meal died and the other is home now after months in hospital.

I think she might be a danger to society if she’s responsible, but without solid evidence, what can police do?

Maybe the homicide police / taskforce assigned to her case have a surveillance operation ongoing in her house, car and on her phone, and they are looking to gather more evidence which will stand up well in court before charging her.

A surveillance op would also assist with community safety… if police or analysts are listening live then they could always step in and break cover if they became aware anyone else was at risk of harm.

All jmo

** I also want to stress that Erin Patterson could be completely innocent and has strenuously denied hurting anyone **

revisiting her statement a month later …
"I lost my parents-in-law, my children lost their grandparents," she said. "And I've been painted as an evil witch," she told the Australian. "And the media is making it impossible for me to live in this town.
The phrase painted as “painted as an evil witch” seems odd and out of place. Like she just can’t say “I’m not responsible for their illness.” Just saying.

"I lost my parents-in-law, my children lost their grandparents," she said.
It’s just semantics on her behalf.
It’s not like she went to their funeral(s) and paid her respects there…did she? Her loss or their loss, her sense of loss… is something she’s tied up in. Because the thing that killed them, according to police, occurred in her home.

I’m so very pleased to read Mr Wilkinson is home with family. I wonder if he would want to reach out to Erin.

Police will be “very keen” to talk to Mr Wilkinson, according to forensic criminologist Dr Xanthe Mallet.

“He’s the only one who attended that lunch to survive besides Erin, and he is going to be giving a full account to police as to what happened at that lunch,” she told Sunrise.

“Who ate what, the demeanours and conversations.”

“It’s that dehydrator that potentially cooked the death cap mushrooms that they need to get tested,” she said.

“That’s going to be critical in this case and really the crux is were the death cap mushrooms in that dehydrator or not?”

Xanthe stating the obvious again

Three possibilities IMO given that no toxicology results yet received/yet provided by official sources -
  1. Deaths not caused by consumption of the meal in question, so not as a result of any action on Erin Patterson's part
  2. Accidental deaths resulted from consumption of meal prepared by EP, with no intent on her part.
  3. Deaths caused by deliberate actions of EP with preparation of the meal.
IMO, if investigators receive toxicology results definitively linking the deaths to the meal prepared by EP, they will certainly take the necessary steps to keep the community safe.

In a recent Australian case - The High Country Murders, (also in the State of Victoria) police conducted over 5,000 covert recordings of a suspect, mainly muttering to himself, which led to his arrest.
(See link below).

(Slightly off-topic, but still relevant (I think) as it shows the extent to which investigators will go in the pursuit of justice.)

Ellery84, kudos to you for including your last sentence. I agree with you that she could be completely innocent.

Your post prior to this one, with the photo of a container of dried forest mushrooms which your friend came across in a specialty store in SA is very interesting. It does show that EP's claim that she purchased dried mushrooms could well be true.

After reading of how frighteningly lethal DC mushrooms are, I felt somewhat alarmed to see the photo of the "Forest Mushroom Mix", and don't feel inclined to make a purchase any time soon...(JMO)

I could be wrong, but Forest mushroom mix I don’t think is literally from the forest, I think it’s just a mix of polytunnel raised mushrooms for variety. Like that jam or frozen berries “fruits of the forest” where literally none of the ingredients come from a forest.
Tho this chat puts me off mushrooms completely!

A friend of mine recently found these mystery mushrooms sold in a specialty store in Campbeltown, South Australia …
Interesting that dried mushrooms are sometimes sold in containers that are not tamper-proof.

These particular mushrooms are sold by an Italian family business that has been around since the early 1970s. (I checked out their website.) Which explains the professional barcoding system they use.

The Forest Mushroom Mix is actually dried porcini mushroom pieces. Porcini mushrooms are sold all over the place here, readily for sale in my local supermarket (part of a large chain).

As many will be aware, porcini mushrooms are large mushrooms that look nothing like Death Cap mushrooms.

Looks like it may be one of those plastic containers that you have to snap off a certain piece of the "lip" to unlock the top.

So many wonderings now that Pastor Ian is home.

That poor man, back at home, with his wife and two best friends passed away. He has his life but wow that pain, I can't even begin to imagine. Also, I really hope that he hasn't lost brain function / memory / recall etc and that, separate to this again, he has some clear ideas or 'proof' as to what happened. Otherwise he's also not only got all that trauma but confusion as to what the truth of the matter is. Imagine if he's got no clue and nothing to add and the meal seemed completely normal and the situation remains inexplicable to him.

Anyway I hope he's under 24 hour protection after what appears to be a deliberate attempt on his life.

O/T sorta
My local farmer’s market has a big functional mushroom tent, many kinds to buy, powdered & dried and spore kits to grow at home.
Extremely knowledgeable man with much information about various health benefits.
Large investments from former NFL players who’ve had helpful results with CTE symptoms
All this to say: No fear of 99.99% of fungi
