she would be perfect if she can pull off the accent
I doubt she can. eg IIRC, people praised Meryl Streep's accent when she played Lindy Chamberlain. I didn't. Australian accents are many and varied, also mostly not as "Aussie" as they once were. Plus we have plenty of fine Australian actresses (sorry, must be politically correct, actors). So why bother with an American, or other? And she doesn't need to be middle-aged, as a movie would likely begin when she was in her 20's. MOO

From 19:42 ish Says in this video that Justice Beale is going on leave & a pre-sentence hearing will probably be in the 1st week of August

Still an interim suppression orders over things said in court out side of the jury's presence & that we may be hearing more about that soon ( I guess that is what the application is for tomorrow @ 14:15 )
Justice Beale has certainly earned a holiday after all that!

They are vile. He makes my skin crawl and I cannot switch channels fast enough when I come across their show on the radio. Send them back to Sydney!
No, we don't want them either!

Unfortunately, they never left Sydney.

Interesting. I wondered before about the fingerprints found on the dehydrator, and wondered if Erin wore gloves when she disposed of it at the tip. It looks to me from these photos that she is wearing white gloves

Yes, I zoomed in on the photos. White gloves.

imo

Yes it’s weird that a couple of ppl are making that reference …. As honestly I can’t imagine why, as there is nothing dynamic or exceptional about EP
Just your typical narcissist with her flying monkeys, imo

I'm struck by how senseless and needless this all was. Truly no winners

He did an excellent job, he gets paid, and his reputation is further enhanced.
He looked very angry when he left the court.

Some people get down on defense lawyers. I don't, with the caveat that they deport themselves appropriately for the court and the gravity of their office. Erin paid for the best, and they did their best for her.

MOO
I agree. They are defending and protecting their clients' rights in the legal system. Mandy did the best he could with the material he was given.

Pictured: Patterson’s phone that was never recovered by police

A photo has emerged of Patterson in hospital on 31 July, 2023, with a phone in a pink case.

The phone, which was dubbed Phone A during the trial, was never recovered by police.

The prosecution had argued it was the phone Patterson primarily used from February 2023 until August 2023, which Patterson agreed was the case.

The court heard Patterson gave police Phone B when they searched her home on 5 August 2023.

She had claimed she did so because she was in the process of changing her phone after the lunch because she didn’t want her estranged husband Simon to contact her.

WOW I'm very surprised that they have CCTV in a clinical space 😲
Video recording is used in some medical testing (e.g. seizure studies) and has also been used in some cases to monitor patients suspected of something like Munchausen/Munchausen-by-proxy, so I'm not surprised they have the equipment in the room, but I do wonder what prompted them to start recording in this case (assuming it's not standard procedure, because that seems like it would be a privacy/data protection nightmare)

He looked very angry when he left the court.

Angry at what do you think? He's going to be paid and, IMO given her litany of lies and her actions, there's no way he could have honestly believed that she was innocent.

He's a barrister: you win some, you lose some. C'est la guerre.

There never is with murder.

I am always relieved when a verdict goes the way I think it should for justice, but immediately after I tend to get really angry, even tearful, because it's all such a freaking waste. It's almost always a case of people being petty or selfish or spiteful, and because of that, a person is dead? And the perpetrator is in prison, possibly forever? And everyone around them is reeling from the fallout and trauma.

And for what?

Such extreme violence, pressing the nuclear option on not just the victim's life, but their own life, their family's lives, their friends lives, the lives of the jurors who have to sit through, witness, enact justice, carry the trauma forever. And for what? A moment of catharsis from rage, jealousy, resentment, covetousness, desire, frustration?

There are no winners here. There is justice, but no fixing what is forever broken and forever stolen.

MOO
