Australia AUSTRALIA - 4YO AUGUST (GUS) Missing from rural family home in Outback, Yunta, South Australia, 27th Sept 2025

Yeah, like I said further up - this would have been the last resort option. Water is life on an arid station like this. And everyone involved locally knows this.

MOO
I'm just going to say this. If he fell into a dam, he would have turned up by now.

I can't imagine how a child would figure out how to weigh themselves down in a body of water.

He's not going to put rocks in his pocket and jump in.

I hope they find him. His mum and dad must be absolutely distraught.
Imo

Even if he is already deceased, he deserves the respect of a proper burial and a funeral, and his mum and dad deserve to know where their son is.

He deserves dignity, and his loved ones deserve to have closure, if indeed he has not survived this ordeal.

Imo

We also have plenty of three corner jacks in the outback (at least, in South Australia). Stepping on one of those is an experience you never forget. Their spikes are so strong that one will go right through your rubber thongs (flip flops) if you step on it.

You learn to keep your shoes on pretty quickly. It can be rough on the feet in that kind of terrain.

Haha they certainly aren't best friends with our Aussie thongs.

Update: Search continues for Gus

30 Oct 2025 10:26am
Police are returning to the State's Mid North to continue the search for four-year-old Gus who was last seen on 27 September 2025.
The search on Friday 31 October 2025 will involve draining of a large dam on the property that is located about 600 metres from the homestead.

The dam, which is approximately 4.5 metres deep, was previously searched by police divers in the initial days of the search for Gus. The draining of the dam will enable a comprehensive visual search to be completed, particularly areas with underwater vegetation.

The renewed search of the dam is being undertaken to rule out the possibility Gus may have drowned.

This follows extensive ground and air searches of the area surrounding the homestead since Gus disappeared.

Task Force Horizon investigators have concluded assessing data and imagery of the terrain surrounding the homestead that was taken using a drone.

Unfortunately, the imagery has not identified any object of significance that has assisted in the search for Gus.

Further aerial imaging of an area out to 10 km from the homestead is still being conducted. This is being done in stages and will take several weeks to complete.

On 17 October 2025 police concluded a four-day ground search for Gus. It followed an initial 10-day search with both involving SA Police, ADF members, SES volunteers, trackers and local property owners.

The most recent ground search extended to 5.5 km from the homestead. This equates to 95 sq km searched on foot. The original search area extended well beyond this with the use of the mounted operations unit and PolAir. This area has been estimated at 470 sq km.

Police had been hopeful the extensive ground searches would locate Gus or provide evidence of the direction in which Gus may have walked, but this has not been the case.

Task Force Horizon is conducting multiple lines of inquiry to locate Gus. These investigations have not uncovered any evidence of foul play.

The family of Gus have continued to cooperate fully with police and are being supported by a victim contact officer. The family has asked that media representatives do not enter their property.

Further searches of the property will be considered in future as Task Force Horizon investigations continue.

They're taking their sweet time with this investigation.

I hope they get some results and answers soon.

Kinda of agree that the body would've floated by now. Our temperatures haven't been that low for it to be held down for so long.

But looking at some picture's the weed does seem quite thick in the dam so could be tangled up, but I can't see how the experienced divers would've missed a 4yr old body in that dam.

Maybe the cops are looking for boots and clothes.

Not sure. Hopefully the police will keep the public updated.

They look like what we used to call double gees (?) in my neck of the woods. That could be a State lingo thing maybe. Nasty buggers.
We called them Cat Head's or The Devils Horn's

This will be the second time the police have returned to this dam.

Interesting, there are three dams within that area.

But seem interested in this one, unless the other ones are dry?

No idea what the dam will show up. But the family continue to be fully cooperative, haven't lawyered up or stopped talking. I feel like by now most families that were responsible or covering up something would have started to crack, or stories about former CPS involvement would have leaked. I'm inclined to believe that the line about no evidence of foul play is to be taken entirely at face value - at least for the immediate family/family at the house. JMO.

I guess we don't know if they have lawyers.

We haven't heard from them so we wouldn't know.... Well....anything, about how they are functioning right now. Imo

The last I read they were stoic.

That was a couple of weeks ago that the police said that, right?

Wouldn't his body have floated by now though? I dont really know much about dams.
It would have, unless it had been weighed down with something. Imo

I don't see the significance of the BBM.

Yes I've looked at past videos and articles and it appears the other 2 smaller dams are low on water. So it's the middle main dam that is being drained IMO.

The 2nd image I believe is one of the smaller dams being searched. You can see it in this Clip

I am honestly surprised that this wasn't done sooner to rule it out
Me too.
It’s been said on here weeks ago that experienced divers can miss things and dams have a thick layer of silt on the bottom sometimes a metre deep.

I'm hoping they figured out a way to preserve most of that water. Maybe a bunch of large trucks that could replenish the dam after the search?

So going by Google earth there is 3 dams all located under 600m from the homestead all close together. So I wonder why only 1 will be drained? Is it the one where they thought they found a footprint, but then dismissed it???

I wonder if his mum and grandmother were tending sheep in that direction

They sure are interested in that dam.

I remember back at the start, people were asking if he could be autistic or special needs, while the searching was going on. I never heard any comments or confirmations but just wondering if that is why there is so much interest in the water?
