Yeah, my grandmother lived there as a small child in the 1920s. She wasn't Jewish, but I imagine most of the kids she went to school with were. There used to be a lot of Jewish people living in Bondi, when I lived there 50 years ago, we all lived in peace. What a sad day.
Absolutely incredible, so brave! I'm guessing he's ex police or defence force?![]()

Bystander tackles gunman in incredible footage
I'm so glad he didn't kill him. It's not his call and the shooter could have alerted his 'colleagues' then too by screaming (not sure how far apart they were) and could have endangered the hero.I think that gun they showed on ABC news for sure belonged to the shooter. The palm tree and path the civilian placed it at when the shooter ran off looks exactly the same.
I know heroics get people killed the vast majority of the time, but I don't think there's any question that civilian saved lives. And all he did was disarm the guy. He didn't kill him, though he could have. That takes courage, too.
MOO
Not necessarily.Absolutely incredible, so brave! I'm guessing he's ex police or defence force?
He would have saved a lot of lives, wonderful to see the human spirit at times of such tragedy.
It was very gutsy of him, he didn't look young or very fit so my guess is that he has an armed forces background but we shall see.Not necessarily.
We see this kind of thing from all kinds of people in extreme situations.
It was courageous, very foolish, and wonderful. He was fortunate not to be killed, and helped saved the lives of others, which I'm sure he thought was worth the risk.
MOO
A shooter of Middle Eastern appearance, with a black flag, opens fire on a Jewish celebration. Doesn't really take a genius to work this one out.A witness told Daily Mail: 'These men pulled over their car put a black flag with an emblem on the windshield then walked over the footbridge and started firing.'

Luckily most people cannot rationalise how anyone could be this driven by their own ideology to kill others and put their own life on the line. Absolutely inhumane.I've seen some truly horrific videos from the beach on Sm. I don't think I will ever be able to rationalise how anyone would think doing something like this is a good idea
I just saw a longer version & as as he was de-arming the perp the other perp was to the right up on a small bridge STILL shooting & the perp who had his gun taken from him went to the the other one on the bridge, who looked to gesture him to come to him & they both continued shooting, so had more weapons.I'm so glad he didn't kill him. It's not his call and the shooter could have alerted his 'colleagues' then too by screaming (not sure how far apart they were) and could have endangered the hero.
