I thought there was help....

A third person has been charged in relation to the disappearance and alleged murder of Bundaberg teenager Pheobe Bishop.
A 30-year-old man was arrested in Bundaberg West about 7pm yesterday and charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder today.
Police alleged he used Bishop's phone to interfere with the investigation.

The man will face Bundaberg Magistrates Court later today.
Bishop's housemates, 34-year-old James Wood and his partner 33-year-old Tanika Bromley, have been charged with her murder and interfering with her corpse.
The pair will face court in August.

So how and when could he have used her phone to interfere with the investigation? We know of two timepoints that her phone was or possibly used:

1. KNOWN - on the way to the airport for the boyfriend call

2. POSSIBLE - some suggestion the phone was accessed via Facebook late one evening - I cannot remember the date but from memory it was the evening JW was first interviewed & before she was found) - assumptions included Police accessing her socials, or the family finding the phone via Life 360 (seemed off as some time after she went missing, to 'remember' to check Life 360) - but could it be Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser?

Yep.
I remember this!

Who is this Kieren? šŸ¤”
Is he an acquaintance of the defendants?
Or a total stranger?

Moo..I live in a country that allows medical and recreational marijuana use. So I don't find it bizarre.
We also have that in my state but it wouldn’t be permitted while getting paid by the government to do a job. So if the client was potentially using then… maybe.

I suspect!!!
that this Kieren guy is a mate of JW.

Remember when JW insinuated PB ran away (with his money) and was even spotted somewhere?

I guess he ALLEGEDLY
asked this guy to tinker with the phone to keep up the charade of PB still alive.

Hence interfering with investigation & being an accessory.

What made you think they had help and that a third person was involved?

<modsnip> ... TB & JW could have moved her as they were under police surveillance (presumably) - I haven't thought about this as there was some time between her being reported missing and then the police searching the home and car (assume from then the police would have kept an eye on them).

I guess it comes down to when Pheobe was moved the first time (near airport Bundaberg) to Goodnight Scrub Location 1 and then to Goodnight Scrub Location 2 and overlay over this the date the police searched the house/car.

"Police have charged 30-year-old Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder."

"They will allege Mr Mittelheuser interfered with the investigation into Ms Bishop's disappearance by using her mobile phone."

Are we assuming the interference with the mobile phone is one or both of the accessory after the fact murder counts? The reference to the phone interference is very specific.
Maybe a member with a greater understanding could help interpret what 'accessory after the murder and two counts' could mean based on the above. I am not so clear on the technicalities but as a thought-starter:

Accessory after the fact - Not actually involved in the murder but helps the murderer

Two counts - usually that would mean two murders, but in this case does it mean he helped / was an accessory 'two' times ?

If I am correct that would mean he was an accessory twice so that is:

  • During the murder then once afterwards; or
  • Afterwards twice
How does he fit into this? If he was an accessory twice after the murder, that means he must have been very close to either TB or JW for them to trust him. Yet, not one mention of his name until today (there has been lots and lots of chatter on socials). If he was in the car... then he is in a place of 'trust' out of necessity..

"He is also facing charges of unlicensed driving, fraud and drug possession." - perhaps this relates to the court dates posted above

Two counts would mean that police have reason to believe the accused had been involved in activity that he contributed to the cover-up on (minimum) two separate occasions after the murder.

This could be:
*The acquisition of the phone knowing that it belonged to the victim-1st count
*Operation of the phone- 2nd count

This would not have happened prior to the murder as the charge is 'after the fact'.

Someone mentioned that the accused could have 'found' the phone. This is unlikely given the charge. If the accused had found the phone AND willingly operated it KNOWING if belonged to the deceased. The charge would be Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice. Which, by the way, would be a lesser charge that could later be laid if the accused cooperates.

For the police to know who it was that used/was in possession of the phone likely means that someone has provided that information. I would assume that either JW or TB has started the revelation process. If this is the case we most likely can expect more information to be released in the weeks leading to the hearing as more information is offered up.
