For those of you tracking the case from overseas, ABC news is more legitimate than Sky News, the Courier Mail or the Daily Mail who will publish articles based on rumours even if they're not true.
A lot of takes have been shared here, but it sounds like they're from an overseas point of view. This post is only aiming to help.
Yes, Gin Gin is a small community. Phoebe is 17 years old and many teenagers from Gin Gin, Bundaberg and other regional areas like the idea of living in the city after high school. It is entirely possible her social media posts about getting away are regarding that. Her BF lives in Perth which is the opposite side of Australia and a minimum of 2 flights from Bundaberg, so it could be about that. Gin Gin, like almost every city in Australia, has drugs.
She's 17, so she likely graduated from high school November/December 2024. It's normal to not live with your family after graduating from high school.
I'm familiar with the airport and unless the roommates are charged, I'm going to lean towards the idea that they did drop her off near the airport. It's a safe area, there are walking paths, shops nearby and while it wouldn't be my preference, I have heard of people being dropped just outside the airport terminal to avoid having to take a ticket and park. There is a drop off zone, but it is limited and often people park there so it gets filled quickly. If the roommate gave her a lift on their way to work, it would be easier and
not suspicious to drop her nearby, especially if Phoebe was early for her flight.
I've mentioned it previously, but it is common to bury pets in your backyard after they die, especially in more regional areas. This could be suspicious but it could also be 20+ years worth of pets that aren't linked to the current tenants.
Guns aren't as easily accessible in Australia than other countries, but in Gin Gin there are lots of farms so more people would have access to a gun. However, if Phoebe isn't found alive (and I hope for her sake and for her family, she is), I would be shocked if the cause of death was by a gun.
