It does look to be important "now" - emphasizing "looks to be".
It's one of the many things we didn't hear about until the Inquest when the Coroner released it. Some of those other things, that the Coroner released, also seemed important, but it doesn't seem that the Police agree that they were important to the Public.
There are many reasons that we wouldn't be privy to or even understand why they release some information and not others - it's not up to us to understand, it's up to them. They are the experts - not us.
Your last paragraph - 'Considering where the investigation is at now with the release of FM's walkthrough' - it's only us, the Public, that didn't know about it - the Police did, it wasn't new to them. I don't imagine that they sat on it for 7 years and didn't give it another thought. IMO
I’m not really saying that though. I’m questioning why the foster parents didn’t discuss it. Not why the police chose not to release the information because I don’t think it was information they told the foster parents to withhold in the first place. IMO Gary Jubelin didn’t believe the foster parents had any involvement and so the drive was not considered important for him and his team to question or look into. The new team, and possibly the Coroner, IMO, believe the foster parents may be involved in Williams disappearance and that is why the walkthrough snippet of FM was released and I’m of the opinion that the foster parents chose not to discuss the drive FM took because they are covering something up.
