“They have got proof that they were at the cafe because he paid for the coffees by card,” he said.

Mr Spedding and his wife then attended a presentation across the road at Laurieton Primary School, where one of the grandchildren was receiving an award.

Investigators were not aware of this detail before they questioned Mr Spedding this week, Mr Youngberry said.

“But I’ve downloaded the receipt and he (Mr Spedding) has now got it in his hot little hand,” he said.

“You order your coffee and you pay for it straight away, so it covers a reasonable period and it is a very crucial time.”

The couple were “devastated” when they arrived at Mr Youngberry’s house to stay overnight on Tuesday after police interviews, he said.

If it was the POI, then there is no reason for him to rush hiding any evidence on the day. The police had no immediate leads, so whoever did it was probably better off carrying on as normal and allowing people to see him or her normally during the day. Then hide the evidence later on.

So all the known timelines can still hold. The cafe visit. The school visit. Assuming it is the POI we know about.

If it is our POI, I am at a loss to know why. It's crazy. It can't be child abuse because there is no window for that to actually happen, unless the wife is complicit, or WT was actually kept somewhere. Maybe it was just an accident. But so crazy to let this go on for so long, if were an accident. So soul destroying for so many people.

The hope of WT being cared for somewhere is still worth holding on to, imo.

Yes, I agree, as to being at a loss to know why. There doesn't seem to be any other children in recent years who have been abducted/missing from the area - my original thought was maybe it was a pedo ring, but I've been unable to find anything to support this theory (not that I'm privy to enough information to validate it, but still).

As it is, I can only see two half reasonable alternatives - either Spedding did an impromptu visit to fix the washing machine without informing the grandmother, saw William and snatched him (which, as I have said before is so risky it's ridiculous), in which case, what on earth did he do with the boy? If WT was kept somewhere after being abducted by Spedding, to me that indicates either the wife knew what was going on, or had some idea, or he's done it before. Or William wandered slightly from the house, someone's been walking through the area, from say the cemetery, happened upon William, and coerced him to leave willingly with them.

As it is with the police attention on Spedding, not clearing him, him being a POI to the police, searching near his home - maybe the police have something we don't know about. I'm at a loss to work out the logistics though.

Does anyone recall the MSM article about police searching a dirt track between Kendall and Bonny Hills a month or so ago? Not the search where they were looking for a car part along a forest trail. There was another search after that.
I am searching MSM and our threads for info about it, but I can't seem to find it. :gaah:

But I remember it well.

Online banking, we download transaction histories all the time. Not sure if they provide the times though? I'm confused as to why this would be an airtight alibi, the wife could have used his card and ordered 2 coffees? I use my husband's card all the time since the 2 year old diaposed of mine down the loo

I wonder if there is a way, to check for Missing Children in the Kendall and surrounding area's for say the last 5 years..? And then the same again from Wellington - Although I am sure LE would have looked into that..

Yeah I'm on ABC news 24 and all I'm seeing are monkeys who run Australia screeching at each other

It is frustrating that police won't talk about the forensics. Maybe they are still gathering evidence (well, judging by the forest searches they still are.) They might find evidence that can be linked to the forensic testing and they don't want to jeopardise a trial. Maybe they are searching the forest different types of vegetation. I am finding it very, very difficult to believe that Spedding is not involved. The police are ALL over it.

That was my point SamandJo - I recall only bank statements being given, not actual receipts (although mentioned in MSM) which do NOT show a time stamp. Receipt and Bank statement are 2 completely different documents.

Nothing on any of the tv channels.

Gary Jubelin just spoke to MSM at the link below. It was short and to the point. When he was asked about BS being a POI Gary said that he will not comment on any POI. He also said that depending on the terrain, the current search should be finished by tomorrow afternoon. Gary also indicated that there will be further searches but would not say where and when.
