IMO, from what I've read about him, Paul Savage is such a weird-behaving person on a number of levels that he could be a suspect in almost anything.
I love to see a psychological report on him.

I'd describe him as eccentric / quirky etc. Not stupid by any means IMO
I wonder if anyone listened to all those 100's of hours of LD's ??
PS sure said some odd things on some of those LD's.
People say he's old, confused etc excusing away his words..........But imagine if the FGM was caught on a LD speaking those words or similar words............would people think the same of her?, I very much doubt it IMO
The retiree, who lived close to the home where William disappeared in Kendall on the NSW Mid-North Coast, was under significant police scrutiny in 2017 and listening devices were planted in his house.

JMO - I really don't believe Detective Beacroft, while being questioned by Jubelin's Defence Barrister Margaret Cunneen SC, was necessarily inferring that Savage should still be under suspicion!

She did alot off work with PS. She did his walk thru.
She actually did sooo much work on the case with the POI packages , cars, town canvas & re interviews etc. She did the work with the Crabb's - video re-enactment. Also the same with Mr Chapman.
She had responsibility for the management of Eagle Eye . She was involved in the May 2018 forensic search.
She had pretty impressive spreadsheets & timeline document etc
Personally I don't think she got or gets enough recognition for her part in SFR IMO

I don’t think there is anything I haven’t read, listened to or watched on this case.
I don’t think it was possible they were stalked or this was planned.
When the fm was accused I was stunned, but I see why the investigators can draw no other conclusions to how he went missing.
Her version plays out like a movie script, a performance with details on feelings and moments instead of hard timelines.
But is that just how she can process the event?
Her mind filling in details mixed with shock?
I think if he went over the balcony she is the type that would call for help not cover up. And I don’t see how there would be no evidence of a cover up in a such a short amount of time.
Jubelin’s focus on PS was due to opportunity for an accident and added bizarre behaviour. “Getting lost” in the same bush you walk every day while out searching makes little sense.
FA while a creep with full capabilities to commit kidnapping doesn’t seem to have had a reason to be in the street.
It is such a sad case that is going on for so long.

just my hunch, but I really don't think PS did anything himself. I think if he did, there's no way it wouldn't have come to light. I do think he is the most likely person to have seen or known something though and I think Jubelin thought so too. idk just the impression I got

Totally agree. However if you believe your own lies, the polygraph test would be useless. Believing your own lies often comes about after repeating the same story over and over. MOO.
JMO - With the inconsistencies about the events of that morning when William vanished, I wonder how a polygraph test might handle those.

I think the ODPP probably gave its answer to a potential prosecution a long time ago. Only nobody bothered to leak the answer. Probably because the answer was "no, you don't have the evidence for a successful prosecution". imo

Many places from there to hide, watch & easy access to & from the fire trail without even going on the road IMO
Edit to add that PS has a direct line of vision from where he sat & had his cups of tea too to see the fire trail.

There are so many inconsistencies. I tried to chart them once. But it got too complex.
I think you are probably right.
Numerous inconsistencies, complicated lives, some bizarre characters including serious criminals, a local pedophile ring, a sleepy backwater ... the list goes on.
Maybe a dream scenario for a writer but a nightmare recipe for investigators.
