Australia Australia - William Tyrrell Disappeared While Playing in Yard - Kendall (NSW) #79

  • #261
The Police Intelligence Analyst today stated there were 1,709 Persons of Interest at the end of August 2024. For some reason the name of Persons of Interest was then changed to Persons Named, by Strike Force Rosann. 345 were removed after being investigated. After this, the Police Analysist couldn’t confirm her figures to confirm how many Persons Names remained….which could be in the vicinity of 723 people still to be investigated.
That would leave around 700 people who had been investigated and were not able to be removed from the list.

But - but - but "we only have one POI"

And Sgt Robyn Ross said that there is an influx of further information following Strike Force Rosann being in the media, so the numbers of matters needing investigation will again increase now.

They fixed the small counting error by changing the name of the list.

What a farce. We have one POI and 700+ Persons Named (where any one or more of them could have been involved/could have taken William/could be guilty)!

imo

I wonder if these files will sit on Laidlaw's desk with the rest of the Cold Cases :(

That's ALOT of work for one analyst.

What stands out to me is .... "including 19 files Mr Laidlaw told a 2023 public inquiry he left unread for a year as the search for William had taken up “a significant amount of my time”."

This report is from one day of the official inquiry (Day 74), if you are interested in reading it. There are a lot of reasons for the (other) families to be upset. And there is no reason why emails from inquiring families should go unacknowledged.

I haven't read all of it yet, but this is an extraordinarily interesting document. Where the coroner makes an open finding, investigation will be drastically deprioritized. And Laidlaw doesn't agree there's a difference in meaning between "undetermined" and "undeterminable".

I can easily understand the FFC's fears of this case being sent away to gather dust , while they have focused on one person for so many years from a "theory" & it seems no evidence IMO

I managed to go to the Inquest for a while today. It has just finished for today, finishing with questioning the last witness for the day, Police Intelligence Analysist for Rosann, Sgt Robyn Ross.
Just out of interest, and yesterday’s discussion and reporting of FA, was FA dialled into court today????
If you don’t mind me asking…

No SLouTH, he wasn’t dialled into the court today. I think that the Coroner was still to make a decision on whether to allow this or not.

Wait, is it in question whether he still qualifies as an "interested person"? Or does he have a lawyer there to represent him?

He has always represented himself …. Hence why he was allowed to ask questions to previous witnesses…. This (not being dialled in today) makes me think that yesterday’s report may have been correct ??? No longer a POI and not going to be called as a witness….. which is unbelievable….

When I read her job title I thought, she'd have a lot of free time.
Mr Craddock summed up Sgt Robyn Ross’s role as a Police Intelligence Analysist with the homicide squad today in court, to which Sgt Ross agreed. She deals with bodies of data to find connections that she may hand over to operations and then Police, who then decide whether to go and investigate. The information is from a large number of tips from the public, which is all manners of people, then distilled into a POI spreadsheet which are all then fed into a data base.

Those are different questions though--whether he's entitled to be represented at the inquest (including by himself if that's the way he plays it), and whether he's "called"/allowed to give evidence.

If FA is never dialled in then maybe it's because they discussed with him what angle he was to take, and screened it. Might make sense because the Inquest is about William and not about sideshow characters attracted to the limelight. If his angle wasn't relevant, don't waste Williams time - start a podcast or something.

I'd be worried that if he's later charged, the case could be tainted because despite being or having been a major POI, he was denied 'leave to appear' (to put questions to witnesses) at part of the inquest. Perhaps he's been offered a Legal Aid solicitor and turned the option down, and that puts the responsibility back on him. I don't know the legal situation here, just guessing.

In no way am l shocked by that. Im pretty sure l could guess exactly who it was too. There’s a handful of people that turn up to simply harass the FM. Disgusting behaviour
Ya know I’m not a fan of the fm but you’re right this is disgusting behavior! It’s one thing to think poorly of her and another to be down right nasty. Shame on those people.
