That's exactly why I stated that the judge needs to insist on her mental competency review.

At this point, JMO, send her back to idaho for LWOP. This seems to be a complete waste of time and money.

I believe the court will soon come to that conclusion as well, but who knows?

Adam and Rex have a new podcast episode out in which they mentioned that despite them taking about Lori openly online, which they find therapeutic, they can't (or choose no to) freely discuss all angles of her situation with other family members. Some subjects are still sensitive, even with people who are on their side (perhaps privacy is one of the issues). Adam is not afraid to give his opinions in public - he doesn't think Lori will call any of other cult members as witnesses, for fear of it backfiring. He thinks Lori is preparing another crazy manifesto, destined to upset everybody, for Charles' trial.

Case info from 2/24/22 thru 11/21/24 reference post #622 here:
https://www.websleuths.com/forums/t...reaux-chandler-maricopa-county.679193/page-32

12/5/24 Update: Commissioner Marderosian presiding. Dr. Michael McGady & Dr. Rick Webster indicated to the court that Vallow was competent. Vallow deemed competent by 2 doctors & ready to move forward with her case, but what remains to be decided is if she can represent herself just yet. Next is the scheduling of a status conference with Judge Justin Bersesky who is presiding over the murder case. Status conference hearing is scheduled on 12/6/24 @ 8:30am. See post #624, page 32, thread #1 for info on competence.
12/6/24 Update: Judge Beresky confirms Vallow's been found competent & that she wants to represent herself. Vallow says yes. Judge Beresky asks a series of questions & says he does note that Vallow speaks & communicates & acts appropriately in Court. Judge Beresky says even if Vallow represents herself, the lawyers she has now will be appointed as advisory counsel. Judge grants Vallow's request to represent herself in her trial. Vallow waives right to attorney & is now pro se. Jury selection will now start on 3/31/25 at 9am. Vallow says she will be ready for that trial date & has a reply to the State's response to the Motion to Compel Discovery. She is ready to file that. A status conference is on 1/10/25. There are 2 separate trials for both cases. Charles Vallow fatal shooting will be first & then attempted murder of Boudreaux. And a pretrial conference hearing on 3/18/25 @ 8:20am. The Judge tells Vallow that if , at any time during the trial she changes her mind & wants her defense lawyers to take over, she will be waiving her right to claim ineffective counsel.
12/6/24 Docket updates: Pro Per Motion/Notice/Mail. Reply to State's response Motion to compel discovery. Notice of right to counsel & waiver. 12/9/24 Docket update: Trial setting. 12/12/24 Docket update: Ruling. 12/16/24 Docket updates: Pro Per Motion re motion to Order Maricopa County Sheriff Office defendant's records. Pro Per Motion to Order State of Arizona to produce discovery of extradition [and FBI emails between law enforcement & the State of Idaho, AZ, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell & the late county attorney Allister Adel from 2019-24].
12/19/24 Docket updates: State's request for extension of time to respond to Defendant's Motion to Order State of Arizona to produce discovery of extradition. Maricopa County Sheriff's response to defendant's Motion to Order Maricopa County Sheriff's Office defendants' records.
1/8/25 Docket update: Minute entry. The court has received & reviewed the following: Defendant's Motion to Order State to produce discovery of extradition filed 12/16/24; defendant's Motion to Order Maricopa County Sheriff Office [produce] defendant's records filed 12/16/24; MCSO's response to defendant's Motion to Order Maricopa County Sheriff Office [produce] defendant's records filed 12/19/24 & State's request for extension of time to respond to defendant's Motion to Order State to provide discovery of extradition filed 12/19/24. Order granting the State's (MCAO) request to extend time to respond until 1/10/25. As to defendant's Motion to Order Maricopa County Sheriff Office to produce defendant's records. The motion fails to articulate any basis for this suspicion. Motion is likewise overly broad & fails to establish that granting the request would lead to any relevant information. Order denying Motion to Order Maricopa County Sheriff Office to produce defendant's records. signed by Judge Justin Beresky.
ID – Vallow found guilty of all charges & sentenced to 3 consecutive life sentences without parole on 7/31/23.

Surprisingly to me, LVD did a pretty good job representing herself at the hearing today. Not to say she was as effective as a lawyer probably would have been, but her performance certainly surpassed other recent defendants I have seen represent themselves, notably the Sarah Boone fiasco.

Maybe once this is all over LVD can join KimK in trying to become a lawyer w/o going to law school. She will have years to read law books while she spends her life in prison.

I wonder if her sister will be called to testify (by either side) in Charles' case. If the prosecution doesn't call her, perhaps Lori will. According to the released documents, it was the sister who asked Alex to stay at Lori's house one day before the murder to "protect" Lori from Charles. Nate Eaton reported that her relatives sat on the prosecution's side at the hearing, but I guess their presence was in support of Lori. Reportedly they keep in touch with her while she's in Arizona, although they don't discuss her crimes. I doubt either would be willing to speak against her. Lori's family did acknowledge at some point (although very late) that Charles was murdered.

One of Lori's complaints at the hearing was about being extradited before exhausting her Idaho appeals. She mentioned being forwarded a news article about the intent of the Maricopa County prosecutors to wait. On the one hand she wanted the trial delayed, but now she can't wait to get it over with. Putting on a Lori show will boost her confidence before her return to Idaho (where she really wants to be). I'm curious if she will try to settle scores with former friends who "betrayed" her.

Not sure why she seems so obsessed with the extradition to AZ, what did she think she would uncover if the Judge had not denied her motion? And, as the Judge asked, what in the h-e-ll does it have to do with the crimes she has been charged with?

Going to be very interesting to hear LVD question witnesses! I suspect there will be some eyebrow raising questions following along with her regligious beliefs.

From Justin Lum

DENIED: Lori Vallow Daybell has another motion denied by Judge Beresky. He says she failed to establish relevance in her motion to produce discovery of extradition, nor that the disclosure would lead to any discoverable information linked to crimes she’s charged with.
