There's two news interview videos worth watching from Chicago.

Former female roomie of TS says he was nice and never showed a violent nature, and that he was all into his music making.

Other long-time friend of Heather's family in video said she was upset when he last spoke with her.

So, there may be more to why the FBI agent is there ... possible criminal activity in the US ... or is that a ploy to try to get them back to the US? Not that I think a ploy will necessarily work.

I don't think it's a ploy. If the crime was conceived of and planned in the US, I can see them as providing useful information for pre-meditation. IMO, why on earth would the US want this couple to be brought to trial on US soil? The couple deserves whatever they get there...and hopefully the FBI thinks similarly.

Those vids make you wonder how things would have turned out for Mr Schaefer if he had never met Ms Mack.

There are so many unanswered questions...but the one that stands out to me: was his ticket purchased unknowingly to Sheila's credit card back when the daughter had access to her mom's accounts...and that's why there was so much anger witnessed in the lobby? Was the mom even expecting him to come?
Also, the hotel rooms at the St. Regis offer in-room safes, but still Sheila chose to use a hotel security box. When did she secure it...upon check-in or when the bf arrived?
I got more, but will be patient.

As many have said, if this was premeditated then it wasn't well thought out. Talk about stupid!

Imagine the plan - Let's argue with your mother on camera, kill her, try to get into her hotel safe box, stuff her in a suitcase with blood dripping on the outside but cover it with a suspicious cloth, then take it down to a taxi while leaving the driver waiting for us, continue stupidity checking into another hotel and have sex and sleep, etc.,

It's embarrassing, if this was premeditated, for the U.S. to admit we educated these two einsteins. Just saying.

However, I don't know why TS seemed to think on a social media post that he might not be coming back to the U.S.

This young woman strikes me as someone who simply doesn't care as long as she is having fun and getting her own way.. At first I thought maybe this was a accident gone wrong and they were trying to cover it up because it sure wasn't planned in a smart way. However, the more I read about this I'm having my doubts..

And I suspect she is very accustomed to buying her way out of trouble - using mom's finances or probably guilting or conning mom into doing so.

And if money doesn't work, trying to use mom's connections or influence to get her out of trouble.

Frankly, had this all not happened so quickly, she very well could have gotten away with it in this case, also.

Indonesia has MAJOR corruption issues in much of the country and in many arenas of life and functioning, including areas that have tried to break away from Indonesia and become autonomous or that have unwillingly been 'swallowed' up and taken back under Indonesia's control.

Bribes are almost an expected way of operating in many aspects there, and it's amazing what one can get away with if you pay a bribe or have someone with enough 'wasta' (influence, basically).

And if something happens in a place that is on 'less friendly' terms with the government as a whole (particularly if it's a region that's tried to break away or such) it's even more difficult because the government often tries to punish them.

Obviously it's not true of all officials, but by and large it is very much the case.

So if she were going to do this anywhere, Indonesia was actually one place money very well could have bought her way out of trouble - or into less trouble at least - had the two planned things out a bit.

Thankfully that's not the case, as I suspect we'd end up seeing her/them with other victims down the road someday.

BBM - Very interesting questions - hope we see answers to those soon!

Can't wait to hear your other question!

It is curious that the mother would take the daughter on the trip with that stolen credit card / charges to a luxury hotel incident having happened just a month earlier, with charges having been filed (at least against TS) and a court date coming up soon!

AND, to imagine the mother agreeing to foot the bill for the boyfriend, who she reportedly didn't like much, is a little tough to believe so your question is an interesting one, BUT this mother didn't appear to have proper boundaries/limits/authority with her daughter so who knows! :dunno:

I'm interested in knowing if the mother knew about the pregnancy and if so when did she learn about it and from whom?

Also, a recent article stated that TS' passport was in the lobby safe deposit box along with the mother and HM's - why did he do that?

[sorry for the jumble of ideas/questions/comments]

Wonder what they planned on doing with the mom-in-a-suitcase? Throw it in the water? Abandon it at the airport? Check it in and dispose of it at their destination?

They apparently placed a heavy stone object in it so maybe they planned on sinking it in water somewhere?

???

Is his own mum okay? Has he stolen from her? They must have had some money to shack up at the hotel near the airport, and get transportation there somehow. I wonder what crime he/they could have been involved in back home.

And then perhaps they planned to get rid of her mum, get her jewellery and money, and take off for China  ... or maybe that was a decoy and they planned to try to come to Australia .. we are close to Bali. :scared:

Only thing I saw about TS' mom is that she has a pet duck and refused to talk to the media about this case/her son.

The dynamic duo reportedly paid for the hotel near the airport with the mom's credit card!

To me it sounds as though they thought they could just hop on a plane (they seemed to assume they could get their passports) and fly to another country, without a visa, before Sheila was discovered.

I wonder whose suitcase it was. Did they 'obtain' another suitcase that did not belong to them? Did they lock the suitcase? They evidently did not think that blood would seep from it.

Maybe stolen credit card and its use both in Chicago and in Bali is part of FBI's focus???

Yep - I hope we learn soon just whose suitcase it was that the mom was stuffed into.

It looked like there were three suitcase with LE and there were three of them (SWM, HM & TS): one that contained the poor mom, and one or two that contained blood soiled linens.

The large silver case (that the mom ended up in) matched a small silver case so perhaps those were the mother and daughters' suitcases. The third suitcase looked like a black canvas type, medium sized bag and perhaps that belonged to TS.

The hotel near the airport where the duo checked in reported it strange that the couple didn't have any luggage with them.

ETA: Correction - FOUR suitcases:

I'm wondering if Heather has money or if mom supplied her... Now that mom isn't around, and neither is her dad, where would she get the money? Sounds to me like mom was flipping the bill, but I could be wrong on this... :waitasec:

I don't believe that can happen anyway, if a crime is committed in any country the accused are subject to the law of that land and are under their jurisdiction.

I think I read somewhere that they used her mom's credit card for their hotel.

Was mom saying that after she paid for the boyfriend's plane ticket he and her daughter should pay his hotel bill?

Hope it's okay to post another link where he was promoting his music and genius from eight months to a year ago. Watching young people make the wrong choices and ruin their own lives actually makes me sad. If only they knew that when you're young you really don't know everything.

I believe so ... but it is questionable if mum knew that she paid for his plane ticket before he arrived - she may have checked her credit card account online after he arrived imo.
