Brad Cooper Indicted

Are the ME notes sent to the CPD or the DA, or WCSO? Do they have to be requested? Can they be used as evidence?

Not that I mind, but I was certainly surprised as were we all. But the GJ's next date is next Monday, the 3rd. Must have been pretty compelling evidence!

Actually - I was not surprised in a significant way since K & B requested the files and started blabbing. I do think the DA was waiting on just one or possibly 2 pieces to finalize and agree to seeking the indictment- once that data came in, there was movement. The one thing we knew was missing was the computer data. The second thing we knew was Hiller's accusations of LE attempting to coerce him - LE already knew Nancy didn't use the phone - they just didn't know how it was used or by whom - the answer could have came from the search warrant of her phone. (K & B - thanks for the tidbit by the way)

Yes the notes are evidence and the coroner will be allowed to use them and have them entered as evidence during his testimony.

Not I; I remained completely clueless and after hearing Wade Smith's comment that the train was coming...maybe next year...maybe in 2 years...I figured we were in for a very long wait and I'm ashamed to admit I thought they might not have enough for Willoughby to charge him (no fault of the CPD, just that there might not have been enough to take the DA over the line). However, I'm very happy I was wrong on all accounts! I'm further thrilled that our DA not only has a pulse, he has a strong pulse, is alive and well and is ready to do battle. Hope he handles the case personally or at least closely supervises every step--we don't want this one getting away from them.

BTW, did you happen to notice who signed the arrest warrant after it's completion (I uploaded the document into the legal folder above)?? Bet that was one arrest that was relished.

I was shocked he was arrested in the way he was. I expected him to be named a suspect first. But maybe they thought he was a flight risk or possibly suicidal.

Wonder what his mom is doing?

It may be next year or two years before a trial yet. Once LE got the search warrants for Nancy's phone - to over ride the password and the FBI doing the computer forensics and MH trying to imply coercion - it made sense to me that LE was very very close to turning the case over to the DA even before the custody hearing.

Somehow I think it will be handled carefully, thoroughly, and agressively. I was wondering about the judges, but think we'll have to wait a couple of weeks for that speculation. Dang, I'm a bad citizen. Haven't voted yet, and can't remember who all is unopposed.

Actually in this county, the DA and police generally do not name the folks they're investigating. They say nothing publicly, do not refer to them publicly as either POI or suspects, and arrest when they're ready, without having 'named' them anything in the meantime.

RD,

Don't be ridiculous! Of course there are bad guys in Canada! I mean, look they have the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who "Always get their man!" and as a kid I used to watch Dudley Doright, I cannot count the number of times that he had to save Nell from the evil intentions of Snidely Whiplash....

J/K of course... I do know a few folk from Canada, and even had to make a trip to Nova Scotia late last year, very friendly folks as far as I have been able to tell.

CyberPro
Oh, yes! I completely forgot about Dudley Dooright!! (We're aging ourselves, Cyber) I stand corrected! :-)

I honestly can say I've never met a Canadian I didn't like. I have several who are close to me, and they're just friendly, happy people. I would love to make a trip there some day.

As to Paul B., SG, I never even heard of him! Are there any more "infamous" Canadians I am forgetting? (Not counting the perps already mentioned by our Canadian posters)

I found it interesting that it was another female Magistrate - Brad has got be not liking all these female judges ruining his parade.

It's not too late! I should try to vote this weekend and get it out of the way to avoid the crush on Tues. As for the judges, I'm sure the prosecutors have mentally scoped out who they would prefer, but as long as the evidence is solid, it really shouldn't matter. Thank goodness there's no Ito here!

Yup, and now HK does'nt have the "not named as a suspect/person of interest" line to fling around any more.

I know!! Not to mention he was sunk in the custody case by a female lawyer. Poetic, really.

QUOTE=SleuthyGal;2880897]Isn't it amazing they managed to 'slip' in BC's case at the very end of the GJ day...not that we would have known if it was pushed to the following session. It's just amazing that it all came together--I should send CPD some flowers and a card to Willoughby.
...yeah, and a box of chocolates and a heart-shaped balloon to JA Young.:blowkiss:

You are a wise man...a wiser man than I... wait, that's not quite right. :waitasec: You are wise. There.

RC...I'm still having troubles understanding the whole deal about MH and coercion (good cop/bad cop). Would you help me with this one?

As I understand Scott Morris has been named as a POI, hasn't he?

:floorlaugh: :blushing:

You are going to get me in *so much trouble* with Mrs JA Young! Really I just want him for conversation about the case, (ok perhaps some light yard work and walking madame too...oh and I have a tiny attic insulation issue I need him to finish). But mostly to discuss every detail of the case. Because, I am not a patient woman. They can take as long as they need to for a trial; that's fine...I just need to know all the evidence and I need to know it NOW! <stomps foot for emphasis>.
