I am conflicted about this. I do not want a baby born and live behind bars, even if it's for a short while.

But, the mom committed a crime and that doesn't go away just because she's pregnant.

She should not get a slap on the wrist and have her parents bail her out.

I seem to recall when this all originally blew up that the family was reported to live in Billingham, which is essentially the poorer end of Stockton. A lot of the housing stock there is ex-council property, either sold off in the 1980s under the Right to Buy scheme of the Thatcher government or transferred en masse to another not for profit social landlord. Some formerly sold individual properties have since found their way into the hands of private landlords, so they may be renting from a private landlord rather than a social housing organisation.

All of this is to say that even if the family owned the house they live in outright, it probably wouldn't be worth much more than £100k and possibly significantly less.

We all have heard stories of cartels targeting the families of mules caught by law enforcement. BC’s parents may be able to buy her freedom, but will they ever truly be free?
If her claims are true (which I doubt), I’d be looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life.
