I read the first 10 pages and hadn't seen a lot of info re Regional Centers, so I apologize if this has been covered. yes, RCs are a Cali thing. any/all structured programs for persons w/ developmental disabilities which are affiliated with state govt must be accessed through RCs. such as: day programs, group homes, sheltered workshops, employment teams/job coaching, mental/emotional evals, etc. there are numerous RCs in a given county, depending on client population. for example, San Berdoo county is the largest county in Cali. intake interviews, annual reviews, etc can be conducted in the home but are more often done at a RC. a family or individual can choose private pay/self pay services/programs but gov't funds must be spent through RCs.
