A summary of the San Bernardino police press conference about the shooting at the Inland Regional Center:
• At least 14 people were killed, mostly in a conference center, when a shooter or shooters opened fire at about 11am PST.
• Police believe as many as three gunmen fled the scene in an SUV. They arrived with “long guns” and not handguns, county sheriff John Burguan said, and may have worn body armor. “They were dressed in a way that indicated they were prepared.”
• At least 14 people have been injured and are being treated at regional hospitals. Scores of people were evacuated from the three-building complex, meeting with state and federal investigators for interviews and treatment.
• “We do not know if this was a terrorist incident,” an FBI spokesperson told reporters. “We do not have any identification of who these suspects were,” Burguan said, but added: “at minimum we have a domestic terrorist type situation that occurred.”
• The sheriff said police are sweeping through the complex, area and city, and are working with schools and other officials to keep the area safe. He asked residents to be on high alert and report suspicious activity.
