There is a lot of cross over in the dance scene. Many people who are into Country partner dancing also do West Coast Swing and go to those dances and events. Ballroom dancers have also transitioned into the Swing community, but there are fewer. I've competed in all three, so I know people in the different dance scenes. I really don't know that many from SB though.

Cotillian classes are different. There may have been a ballroom teacher for the class but the two genres probably don't mix.

I'm going to a party with a bunch of swing dancers tonight and maybe I'll hear something.

I know I've seen her before at dance events but did not know her. I will probably run into someone tonight who does.

Just want to mention an obscure and, most likely, inconsequential coincidence. In the obituary link above, it mentions that the Husted's were patrons of "their children's Cotillion Class." Is this cotillion class a series of formal ballroom dance classes and dances like I attended when I was about 10 years old and later my daughter attended at the same age?

Since Dr. DiRodio was former dance instructor, could this be a connection?

Cotillion is defined as a 'program of dance and social ettiquete education for children and adults.' Ballroom dancing is one part of the Cotillion 'experience'. It is another interesting connection between these three victims.

I just noticed in the Husteds' obituary (in the Ventura County Star) that Davina had earned both her realtor's and broker's licenses. So, there's another possible real estate connection.

May be nothing, and definitely JMO.

I was thinking in terms of contacts, networking, etc., among realtors as they represented various clients who had their homes for sale, were looking for homes to buy, perhaps putting rentals on the market, etc., in that area. Just thinking that might lead to a connection between Davina Husted and Wendy DiRodio.

You've taken this a step further....I'm looking forward to your next post!

A vigil is planned Saturday evening to remember the Faria Beach couple brutally stabbed to death in their waterfront home last month..

Part of the goal is to keep the case in the public eye in hopes someone might recall a new bit of information that could help investigators catch the killer, said Heather Husted, Brock’s niece.

In my educated opinion there will be no connecion between Cotillion classes and the type of dance groups WD was involved in.

There was no talk at the birthday party. I have been away so long from these people we didn't get around to talking about it - so much catching up to do - and mr. zig was starting to get a cold, so we left early.

There's just not a lot of cross over in those dance scenes.

Davina and Brock Husted

Friends and family of Brock and Davina Husted lined a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway on Saturday night holding signs and urging people not to forget the Faria Beach couple stabbed to death in their waterfront home last month.

No one has been arrested in the case, and detectives have not determined what motivated the killings, authorities said earlier in the week.

“It’s an extremely frustrating process,” Scott Husted said. “You have no obvious answer why it happened. You have the pain of what happened. After the services are over, you start reaching out for some answers.”

New article says police think that Wendy Di Rodio was targeted by her killer. She was stabbed multiple times 2 days after her birthday. She had more than one entrance to her bedroom in the home she was sharing with her parents. She was found locked in her room.
Police can not find any links between Wendy's murder and the killing of the Husteds, but said they can not completely rule it out. The Husted family relatives know no link between the couple and Wendy.

Police recovered a knife at the Husted murder scene, but did not find the weapon in Wendy's murder. They are still processing evidence but it sounds like they are working on newer cases already. That does not bode well for an early conclusion.

Here is an aspect of the murders I have not heard of from the British press. The killer might be a worshiper of Charles Manson and is copycatting his crimes...

Chillingly, one of his three victims was a wealthy, five months’ pregnant woman with long, blonde hair – just like Hollywood starlet *Sharon Tate, who died in a gruesome bloodbath in August 1969.

Local Police *Captain Ross Bonfiglio said: “There are similarities about the nature of the killings to those carried out by the *Manson Family that concern us.”

A neighbour of the Husteds said: “This is like something out of a horror film. We are all living in sheer terror of what might happen next.”

Detectives fear a sick *“disciple” may be trying to pay homage to the psychopathic cult leader on the *anniversary of his rampage.



A veteran detective who worked on the case said: “It is stomach-churning to think someone is trying to emulate some of the wickedest deeds in criminal history.



“But the unpalatable truth is that Manson has always had fans out there.”

Manson groupie had never crossed my mind, seems a little far fetched. I wonder if we will get a response from local LE on this story?

Not saying this will happen, but putting that type of theory out there has been known to cause great public concern. LE may put a statement out just to circumvent that type of scenerio.
