I assume that NM will be obligated to attend his sentencing hearing? And finally, Bob Lee's family will be able to confront the person who murdered their son, brother, husband (ex), and father.

If mitigating statements are allowed by NM's family members, I hope they don't get the last word. In any event, NM has been found guilty, and he will be sentenced accordingly.

I’ve got to admit….. color me confused on this one. So maybe I was too sleepy last night. But IIRC I thought the Dateline episode on this case that aired last evening at the end showed that the defendant NM was found not guilty? Or at least not guilty of first-degree murder or something in the slaying of Bob Lee? And that the family of the victim intended to therefore seek civil recourse against the accused for that reason?

And now reading this thread it seems there was a conviction of NM on second degree?

Was that conviction from that same trial? Something else? What am I missing? Besides everything?

Wondering if I’m living in some alternate reality? Or have I totally missed the boat on this one. Thanks in advance for any clarification if willing. MOO

Theres been one trial.

After seven days of deliberations a jury of 12 were unanimous on:

  • Not-guilty of first-degree murder
  • Guilty of second-degree murder; and also he was found guilty of the modifying charge of using a deadly weapon in the commission of the slaying - - a charge that will add weight at sentencing

Nima Momeni now faces 16 years to life in prison.

@DatelineNBCProd

In a confusing moment during Khazar’s testimony, she denied that her brother killed Bob, even though Nima was claiming self-defense. Their mother, Mahnaz, waved her hands in the air from the gallery. Mission Local’s @miss_elenius wrote about it.

Khazar testified in her brother's case for four days.

Tensions were high while Khazar was on the stand. After listening to her testimony, Krista accused Khazar of making herself a victim. Her comment got her barred from the remainder of Khazar’s testimony.
