Which show was she on? What is her name? and when was the show on t.v.? ty

I believe smartphones/iPads/etc would have immediately alerted them to the receipt of the emailed manifesto.

One could jump to the end quickly and bingo!

They knew a 141 page diatribe was not going to be about flowers and rainbows from this "very, very disturbed" young man. JMO

BBM

maybe that's what I should do as I'm having a slot of trouble getting through it!

He's a guy who is preoccupied. I think the county comes second. Why is he involved in all this outside work when he has a house that is not in order at DCFS?" asked Aubrey Manual, president of a local foster parent association.

Sophy and the executive team in charge of the Department of Children and Family Services have come under repeated criticism for systemic breakdowns that contributed to the fatalities of children under their supervision. Sophy's unit has been specifically faulted in some of those deaths, and Supervisor Gloria Molina harshly scolded him in a closed-door meeting this year, according to officials familiar with the exchange.

He also was working on HOLLYWOOD HOUSEWIVES .

What is Hollywood Housewives? I am not familiar with one by that name. tia

The further I read into this drivel, the vague feeling of being fooled is becoming less vague. Something is telling me that this whole manifesto was part of his "ultimate retribution". Like a joke he's playing on the world. He wasn't stupid. He knew we would be pouring over it after his death. I feel like we've been had.

I'm not clear on exactly what I don't believe, but I think the whole thing is based on a lie. A scam. He's still manipulating people.

Whatever he's selling, I suddenly don't feel like buying.

Has anyone gotten a sense of how recent ER was playing the loud music in the middle of the night and disturbing his roommates? TIA

ETA: I just saw this:

“That guy was always playing music very loud in the middle of the night,” [SF] told KNTV-TV on Monday. “They complained to the manager of the apartment and they were planning to move out.”

Sounds like the loud music was an ongoing problem.

Ugh! I had to jump pages at at time in order to get through it. Didn't want to get too caught up in it out of fear of descending into his vortex of hatred, whining, blaming, crying, manipulating, me, me, me, me, me, etc.

In all fairness , regarding mom and dad, much ,unknown nor supported by a single fact at this point, indicates that they were non involved parents. I think it is fair, they have had to bury their child., to let them do that and if and when they want to go public to listen their nightmare and obstacles before judging.

I know I know other folks are burying theirs as well.

That sad truth , however, does not change the reality that as of now they do not have time or desire to talk to press. They too, are traumatized human beings, There was nothing more, within the system we have in place the parents could do – it’s our system.. In the coming weeks, happening now on CNN , we are going to learn how ill the child was.

We need to "blame "to grasp something that is hard to grasp -it has to be someone’s “fault” that these horrors happen in America every week. But blaming instead of looking at what is going on and WHY that gives permission to do nothing.

Many are doing the same thing with LE in this instance. They were notified they went there, they are not trained (many here are saying there was nothing wrong with him). If that is the case how can someone expect cops , not trained, to be able to access.

Much conversation is going on that they should have gone in . Police cant search homes , unless they have come to the conclusion that there is a “reason” to violate the right to freedom from search.

This is not the Rodgers fault. Lanzas mom is dead cause she could not help.

It is our societies refusal to acknowledge the realities of mental illness. To grasp that it is no different than cancer. It is an illness.. Until Americans can truly grasp that it is an illness, as the past year clearly demonstrates, as a society – we are not doing something correctly.

There certainly can't be anyone that would argue that this (mass shootings) is exploding in America. Until the govenmetn and the private sector start to take mental health seriously , sadly we all our going to be processing our thoughts and feelings right here on WS....................again.........and again...........................and again.Dig you guys but you know what I mean. And hey at least we are talking mental illiness - most of the country is texting about if they want cheese on their hamburger.

This is a society issue.

If the car does not start, and one is doing nothing to correct the problem .....then the car is not going to start. The expectation that it will is, well............................

RE:He knew we would be pouring over it after his death. And doing nothing to prevent it again.

Private insurance is no better when dealing with mental illness. They wont pay for long term hospitilzaion. That truth is repulsive in light of the numbers below:

It's actually having the opposite effect on me. I started out believing he really was struggling with self-worth and masking it with bravado. The more I read, the more I feel like it's the other way around. If I had any sympathy for his emotional state at first, it is gone now. He was a blatant manipulator IMO. Psychopath.

IIRC, he mentioned this, not once, but at least 3 or 4 times throughout his drivel....

Equally telling, he rails against his mother not marrying someone rich after the divorce so that he could live in the style he deserves. He actually called her selfish for not doing so.

So it had nothing to do with his parents' happiness. He couldn't have cared less about that. It was all about him. As was everything.

He also names everyone by first and last names in his Manifesto but his mom's beach house owner rich boyfriend is just Jack.Starting to wonder about ER Posting to you tube .the news station because is his deranged twisted evil mind everyone who reads it will blame those named for making him have no choice but to do this final act. To leave those who barely knew him to the few who stayed until he started talking about holding down and raping woman, with a type of survivors guilt and having the public believe bad of them to ruin lives after his death.Let's face it he could not run around to each and every person who he wanted to kill just because they were what he could never be. He wanted to kill his step mom and little brother, was that to just mess further with their heads after he was gone. Maybe I am just losing it since I have not gotten sleep in almost 2 days, still so creeped out by this monster.

I'm curious ... did ER mention anything about religion in his manifesto? TIA

Just wondering if he had a foundation in a religion and, if so, which one. TIA

When I skimmed through it, I didn't see a mention of any religion but I jumped pages at a time.

I read it and did not see any reference to religion. Unless you count Elliot Rodger worshiping himself.

I think the same bell is ringing in your head as is ringing in mine. It started out as a vague sort of naggy feeling, but it's suddenly pretty clear to me that this 141 page document is part of his manipulative revenge plot on the world. I think it's full of lies and purposely twisted facts, meant to extend the suffering.

I just read an article that says the place he lived is for adults with disabilities. Is that true?

This is the time, in every instance , where we start to learn about the victims.

It is so depressing.................we are doing this, (learning about people who are murdered and gone), too often guys

It is just a mess and sad.......................

Chin Rodger and Peter Rodger ‘Crippled With Guilt’ Over Elliot Rodger Slayings: Family Friend

"Author Simon Astaire, who is acting as the family spokesman, told the Daily Mail that the family is so upset that they can “barely string a sentence together” and are “grieving for those innocents who lost their lives, above their own son.”

<snip>

“They don’t place any blame on the police, because Elliot fooled everyone, no one knew the man he was turning into,” he said. “He seemed a sensitive guy, there was nothing aggressive about him, there was no anger. No one recognizes the person portrayed in the manifesto. He didn’t act in that way, he was just in his own world. He didn’t once speak about guns."

“If you look at the amount of therapists they took him to, it is clear he did all he could. He’s writing with anger, but he constantly references how they tried to make him feel better.”

More at link above...

Elliot Rodger's extreme narcissism caused so much grief for everyone. He is so selfish. He has to be the most narcissistic self-absorbed person right next to Jerry Sandusky, Andrew Cunanan, Lori Drew, and Casey Anthony.

Lawstudent----your retorts are focused around "institutionalization" yet I was responding to Flutter's comment that he didn't display any harmful thoughts or behavior to anyone (just himself). I was not talking grounds for "institutionalization"....of which I am formally aware.

Sorry about how I structured my posts - I know you weren't talking about it, but I was trying to show the other poster, who hadn't named examples, how examples that look damning were not going to get him committed because he hadn't shown any imminent threat of violence until the video posting/emails right before the shooting (and the balcony incident if it had been clearer what happened).

@Song22, thanks for sharing your story. Your son is a minor, correct? I agree it is reasonably easy to get mental health care for children where the parents have insurance, but I was saying that once they become adults and don't feel they need treatment, people here are advocating that a great many of them should be preemptively held (forever?). To force that, the state would have to pay, or the person would have to have good health insurance. There would be so many people in the system. And I personally know of a few families who couldn't get their adult kids into mental health beds for several days, which isn't a long time, but with someone in that state, it can be the difference between life and death.

Also, fortunately, your son sounds like he is able to stabilize and you can bring him home soon. What bothers me is the common reaction that people who've had to go into a hospital for treatment of violent thoughts should not come out because it is too dangerous. While it is true that there's always a risk and some people need institutional care, most parents obviously do not want their child in their forever if there is hope of stabilization. There are just so many lines we have to draw - really tough situation. Sad you have to deal with it - hope he comes home soon.

Here is the quote:

Rodger was living with roommates at the Independent Living Institute in Santa Barbara, a facility that offers 'living skills instruction to help adults with disabilities to live more independently in their communities,' according to the website.
