Seems to me if she has the car door open changing the baby, when she gets punched she would hit the door, not the ground. I just don’t see enough damage to the eye, for a knock out. I think there looks like a little bruising under the other eye also.
Do we know what kind of car she has? I could see using the tailgate or flat "trunk" area of an SUV as a makeshift changing table.

We could start anywhere, like with the suspect.

No suspect information is available at this time....
An Amber alert wasn’t issued in this case as no descriptions of the suspect or vehicle were provided, per KTLA.

That says a lot, IMO.

There's another slightly different interview of the mother here

She says there's no cameras and no lighting.
she says after coming to and not seeing her baby she "came back to get my phone" where did she come "back" to? Was her phone not with her on her person or in her car?

Stranger abductions do occur, but this type where a parent is present, physically assaulted to the degree she passed out, placement of that bruise, and the baby is taken is very rare. I guess it’s possible, but IMO this just isn’t very believable, no tears. I got the same vibe from the Wests who spoke after Orrin and Orson were reported missing.

I think she meant came back from waking up from being knocked out moo

Following this closely, something seems very off IMO
That was my first thought also, something just don't add up. In that type of the place someone would have seen or heard something, even security cams would have captured it.

I just watched the interview with parents. That black eye looks more healed/older than I expected? JMO

So initially I had read that dad was inside the Big 5 store but the interviews I just watched seem to indicate she and little guy were at Big 5 alone to pick up some emergency piece of equipment needed at a game where dad remained with the other kids? and before she could enter the store she was attempting to change Emmanuel's diaper in the car, before removing dirty diaper as she readied her supplies, she was knocked out and the baby snatched and taken. Am I understanding that correctly?

ETA I am glad we got more pictures of this little cutie pie thought
Agreed, do black eyes materialize to that level that quickly? I too wondered.
I have observed over the years that when a child is actually well cared for, parents are taking them to the doctor on a regular basis and therefore have a pretty close estimate of height and weight. When a child isn't being seen by a healthcare provider regularly, the estimates are often way off.

It's a lot harder with adults, naturally, since adults don't often share their info, but usually it can be pulled from a driver's license or ID (but that doesn't account for people who lie about their weight on there, like me lol).
Plus it's generally part of a whole ethos, isn't it? You take the baby to the pediatrician because you care about them; because you care about them, you note what their height (length) and weight are at the end of each visits; you call/text your family members excitedly to tell them what the new milestone is; you write it down somewhere, or celebrate it on your social media.

I do not rule out the possibility that some people nowadays can't afford those steps in healthcare, because it can get tough in some circumstances.
Because they were allegedly in a public place before this occurred there are parts of this that would be easily verifiable.

Did the mom have a black eye at the game? Did anyone see Emmanuel there? Did she leave the field with Emmanuel?

If all of those are correct, then that’s a very short window of time to where something would have happened to this little boy. We’re talking, in an hour or less, between when her and Emmanuel left the field to the time when he was allegedly abducted.

If he wasn’t abducted, then that gives the mom that same roughly 47 minute timeline to “get rid of” Emmanuel, drive to Big 5, give herself a black eye, and call police. And make sure there’s no cameras or witnesses around the whole time.

I don’t know…that just seems like a very short timeframe in which too many things could go wrong.
I rule nothing out, after that one case where the boyfriend watched the Craiglist (?) baby clothes (?) person both (a) pick up his girlfriend, and (b), literally cruise back and forth past him in a pickup truck together; but short of a "someone is looking specifically to replace a baby for a bereaved mother" or similar, I see no reason to be knocking out the mothers of babies with full diapers in parking lots in order to eagerly steal the babies.

Is anyone familiar with sports mouth guards that are currently in use? I remember back in the day my brother would get a new one and have to soak it in hot water, then put it in his mouth so it would mold to his teeth. Is the technology different these days?

Don't those mouth guards need to be soaked in boiling water and then moulded to the teeth? Or have things changed since my kids needed them for sports?
I just asked the same thing. My brother played ice hockey and I definitely remember the boiling.

They make new ones nowadays that are “non-molding”. Here’s one:

Was this the first practice or game of the season for this child?

I never get too bothered if the height and weight are not known by the parents. I was an attentive parent who kept up with medical check ups, and never once memorized or shared weight or height with anyone as they grew up. It's just not interesting to me, unless there were an issue, I suppose.

In this case, I think we'd all recognize this well-fed 7mo baby isn't a 2mo or a 1yo. And his features are more distinctive than exact height/weight, imo.

Of all the hinky details, that honestly isn't one for me personally. my opinion

Yeah, noooooo, I don't love this...

“I was going to get the diaper and somebody said, ‘Hola,’ and I don’t remember anything since,” Rebecca told the outlet as she appeared with a black eye. “I woke up here on the floor and I didn’t see Emmanuel.” She alleged that someone “snatched” her son out of her vehicle.

...do people usually say "here on the floor" to refer to blacktop/pavement?... I think of "floors" as "that surface underneath your feet which lives only within four walls", and can't think of a scenario where I would use it instead of "pavement"... I grant maybe if she DID get concussed, that such a confused locution might spring to mind more readily than "pavement"; but I'm also a little alarmed that even "People" is running around using scare quotes around "snatched", "kidnapped", et al.

Maybe; but it also doesn't necessarily mean anything in particular if the kid already had one at home he forgot to pack out.

I get that you're probably thinking something like "do these people have a routine set up for this process yet", because that definitely could inform the situation; but just the fact that the mother/someone "had to" go to the store for a replacement (or original - we don't even know that part of the equation) mouthguard, doesn't really push us towards any particular outcome.

Also, while I'm childless and have never packed out anything for intramurals in particular myself, it wouldn't surprise me generically, with all the lists kids and parents get saddled with, if the kids were all told to have a main and a backup mouthguard in their kit bags before they started playing, and maybe the kid only had one.

Others can chime in who know language better, but I notice Spanish speakers will refer to the "ground" as the "floor" in English.

I have Spanish-speaking neighbors who do that, and that's my source. No link. :)

The syntax and chosen words throughout are odd, that’s what makes it seem inauthentic. The brain struggles to find the right words when under pressure and telling a lie. That’s what I get when watching her speak, MOO.

she describes coming to, not seeing her baby anywhere, and then coming back to get her phone and call 911. In her retelling it sounds like the return of consciousness is a separate event that happens before her coming back for the phone JMO.

Yeah, forgetting a mouthguard is actually a detail that rings true to me. If it didn't happen that day, it likely happened in the family at some point.

I'm curious when she "remembered" the missing mouth guard - did any other parents see her and Emmanual at the game? Or did she drop everyone off and then run the errand to the store without anyone seeing her and the baby?? Did she and her husband arrive in the same vehicle?

Yes, I was going to add this earlier, but true.
