It would be sad and bittersweet if they found Erin today on her 20th birthday, but it would give some resolution to her family and friends.
IMOO.

If I had to guess, I would say that the duplex that caught on fire is just south of Highway 62 on El Reposo. It appears to be less than a block from the Circle K. I have long wondered if Erin had stopped at a gas station. Was this on her route?

Hmm. A hotel drain, huh? I wonder if they have evidence or suspicion that she met with someone at a hotel instead of going to JT?

I wonder if the scaled-back search is because they have narrowed the search area to a few specific locations. I hope that's the case. Otherwise, I fear that they will never find Erin.

I suspect one of the primary reasons the search has been scaled back is due to the fact that many of the searchers are volunteers and may have "day jobs" that they have to get back to during the week. Surely the Marines have units/people that are experienced searchers. Why don't they get them in the mix as well? I'm sure there is a reason they aren't involved but I don't understand it.

I really do not think they want a Marine to be the one to find her. Jmo

Why would they care if a marine found her so long as the searchers are trained in handling this type of search?

If that People article is correct, it's gotten me thinking about something that bothered me early on. Has anyone seen where LE says Jon is not a POI? I certainly may have overlooked something but, so far, all I have seen is his family saying he is not a suspect. That is not the same thing as LE saying it. They have said he is cooperating, but LE has said the same thing about other men who did indeed kill their wives. I fully admit that we don't have the whole story and I am not accusing him of anything. There is alot we don't know and he may have had to work on Saturday. But, as others have said, I would feel better if we had solid evidence that she was seen leaving home on Saturday morning.

Given the terrain, the size of the search area, the mines, etc., it's difficult to imagine they'll find her without cadaver dogs. The article below is about a dog that tracked a murder suspect across Madison:

Amazing, and cadaver dogs have an easier time because decomposition is generally easier to detect than a living person's scent. It seems to me a waste of effort to explore caves without a hit from a cadaver dog. From everything I've read, if she is in a cave, even if she's buried there, cadaver dogs would likely be able to detect her from the surface. If they're not calling in as many cadaver dogs as possible they're missing an opportunity that may be gone as dessication and decomposition continue.

I must have missed something. Where was a hotel drain mentioned? Did I miss an article or was it just a speculation from someone? Thanks!

That is exactly the reason (from the below link): The search will continue Monday, but with fewer volunteers available, efforts will be scaled back some this week and then hit hard again on the weekend, Lane said, stressing that the department will continue to search for as long as necessary.

A comment on one of the Erin Support FB pages. The person stated that LE were searching yesterday in a storm drain next to a hotel. No other info given. So take with a grain of salt, etc.

I wondered early on if an issue might arise during the trial if the suspect ended up being a Marine and Marines (though not necessarily the suspect) were involved in the search (?)
