Prosecutor having a field day with defense private eye (P.I.) re his discussions with Baker, especially re gps. For example, the only reference to Baker talking about gps devices, which were not mentioned in the P.I.’s raw (hand written) notes. (The P.I. had previously testified he used his hand written notes to refresh his memory, then they were discarded). The only reference to the gps in his finished report were the words Ford F150 Porsche on the very last page of his notes for that days visit at the prison. That was the very first time Baker had ever mentioned the gps during their twelve or so visits.
There was also some disagreement regarding the date of that visit, whether it was March 10 as on his hand written notes, or March 11, 2025 as on his finished notes.
Baker was interviewed twice by the P.I. that day, once in the morning, and once after court ended that same day. He said it was because their visit didn’t get finished in the morning.
His notes indicate Baker said he removed the gps from the Porsche the night of the murder. He went on to say he removed the device from the Ford F150 sometime thereafter. None of which were in his hand written notes.
This fellow says he knew about the gps purchase earlier and Baker volunteered he had two gps units, had to buy them, cash. That indicated to the P.I. that the gps he had bought six months earlier was not the one he put on the car because it had been purchased on a credit card.
So now we have three gps.
Then they jump to the night before the murder - prosecutor says Monica told Baker Fabio was going to pick up Chinese food, Baker said he knew from past experience that there were only two Chinese/Asian restaurants the family went to, the Pho/Chinese restaurant, and Jasmine Thai, both on Ventura Blvd., but that was not in the P.I.’s notes either.
Hmmm. My head hurts. So all this is my interpretation of the witness testimony.
