What about the science from the neuro scientist?

That is not opinion.

A very thorough article!

"Citing an anonymous source Wednesday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Gonzalez used ice cream to lure Maddy into his mother's apartment, then strangled and killed her with blunt force trauma to the head."

"Tannery resident Setorro Garcia said he practically had to shoo away Gonzalez because of his incessant questions about the status of the search."

"Media reports say Gonzalez confessed his crime to police though Wednesday, Santa Cruz police said they were done talking about it."

"Gonzalez, who reportedly said he wanted to commit suicide prior to the crime, is on suicide watch at Juvenile Hall."

Here is a report, very easy to read, about a brain scientist and psychopathy.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=127888976

I will never in one million years think that a little baby born will be a psychopath unless there is abuse or incorrect parenting. Incorrect parenting can be shaming, or leaving a baby in a crib and not paying attention to the baby. Or not answering the baby's cries. Those kinds of things.

I know of several families who have 3 or 4 healthy, loving children, and one psychopath. One family that I grew up with helped convince me of 'bad seeds.' Their second oldest son was a coldhearted, cruel kid from the earliest I can remember. He was never ignored or mistreated. His brother and 2 sisters are healthy and lovely. He abused animals from a very young age. Set fires, the first time at age 4. He was just playing with matches' and they blamed themselves for not noticing he had taken them from the fireplace mantel. But as time went on we all saw that he was cunning, sneaky, malicious, and heartless. He is in prison right now for identity theft for stealing from his girlfriend's invalid mother.

Someone on here had the idea maybe his IG of Haagen Das ice cream had significance.

Wow. That is something to think about

Yes, it was just his opinion that his loving family prevented him from being a psychopath. It was anecdotal. FIRST he said this:

but Fallon says the orbital cortex puts a brake on another part of the brain called the amygdala, which is involved with aggression and appetites. But in some people, there's an imbalance — the orbital cortex isn't doing its job — perhaps because the person had a brain injury or was born that way.

"What's left? What takes over?" he asks. "The area of the brain that drives your id-type behaviors, which is rage, violence, eating, sex, drinking."

So he says right there that some people ARE BORN with the faulty orbital cortex. He goes on to speculate that his loving family prevented him from actively living out his psychopathy. But that is anecdotal. He does not know why.

I had a friend of forty years who moved from job to job and different states so I really did not see her that much over the years. But sometimes she lived in the city that I lived in and I did see her often.

Last winter she came and stayed with hubby and I as we retired to a great place and have room. She stayed for three months. Wow. Never guessed she was a sociopath. Living with her was an eye opener.

I don't think anyone has a clue what goes on in someone else's home. I have been shocked to,hear about domestic violence from some. Infidelity. Drug use. All surprises to me.

I think that is usually true. But this family lived next door. I went on family vacations with them, spent many nights there, and saw the daughters almost every day since I was about 8 yrs old. So I did have a clue what went on in their home. Their son was not being abused or mistreated. His parents were beside themselves with worry and concern. Trying to understand why he purposely hurt their pets. Why he said such hateful things. Why he stole from them when he was generously given money if he asked for some. He was a bad seed, imo.

I suppose that us true. His idea of why he did not succumb is anecdotal.

If you look at Harlow's monkeys, they chose the soft mother over food.

Or if you look at studies of orphanages and what happens to children who do not get their needs met. It is easy to,see in dogs. Which ones are raised with love and which ones are on a chain day and night.

None of it matters to me because I will never see a child as born evil. In my teaching career there is only one child I could not like out of the hundreds I taught. His family blamed everyone else for the fact that the child was cruel .

Maybe something happened when he was an infant. The unabomber's mother thought there was a change when he was hospitalized as an infant and the mother was not allowed to hold him. The bonding of an infant it really critical and it can be interuupted by mother's illness or child's illness.

These kinds of issues need analysis because who wants to live in a world filled with crime and violence.

I completely agree that mistreatment and abuse can create sociopaths. It is very sad. I wish we had a way to prevent it. But it is also true that good parents, loving and caring parents, can end up raising an evil spawn. JMO

I am very curious to hear what 'Awkward Adrians' backstory is. He seemed to have a loving, caring home. In one of the pix on his IG you can see his apartment. It is full of plants, and artsy, homey decorations. I know his mom was very social and loved to cook and have friends from the artist community over. I don't see him being in an abusive situation. Maybe he was abused by someone earlier in childhood though? Who knows.

You would think, but there was a stalker case that came out that when the guy was 14 he killed his entire family and was sent away til age 21 and quietly released into society. He later stalked a woman, sorry can not remember the name.
This is why they try perps like AJG as adults, otherwise he would walk free at 21, the maximum age to hold a juvenile.

There are so many variables at every stage. Most likely we'll never understand conclusively.

AJG sure didn't seem to be suicidal while he was hanging around during the search and asking police for updates, or while he was trying to cover his crime. It really peeves me that suicide should even come into it. He isn't dead little Maddy is. He didn't seem to be scared when he committed this horrid crime but after was to scared to kill himself!!

MOO!!
