I certainly respect your opinion on his comments even though I did not get the same impression.

It seemed very gender, and race specific to me.

It made me wonder if he had been rejected in the recent past by someone he was interested in leaving him abnormally angry with all white women.

Just my opinion, and nothing more though.

Ha ha. I mentioned that and my comment was removed. I am onboard with this

He could have avenged ALL the "innocent bystanders" killed in his town, by killing an equal number of "guilty bystanders", if he was only allowed to fully express his rage.

I am trying to understand your argument.
I think what he means is that the media and the public really don't care when innocent people are shot in driveby shootings by gang members. They don't even make it to national news.

His grandfather was charged with raping his own daughter, according to articles on first page, and his father was training him to be a boxer.

Both have typical Christian given names and LEGAN surname, which I assume is NOT Iranian.

So if some report mentions he is "Italian Iranian" it would mean his mom has Iranian background.

But he shared xenophobic and misogynistic views of white supremacists and incels.

the mother was Iranian. i don't have the link handy right now but previously in the thread, a link was about what was on his now deleted insta. he had an old pic of his grandfather who had an Iranian name that he anglicized when he moved to the states. he was saying that his grandfather was named "___" and he changed it to "____" when he moved here, but the pic was of him wearing traditional Iranian clothing with the head covering.

the father is of Italian descent and it was that side of the family with the accusations.

i am from san jose, but among natives, not tech boom. this is of interest.

the tech boom has been quite literally displacing the natives w the soaring costs. i have nothing personal against the techies however i will be honest and admit that i wish a lot of the tech companies would move elsewhere. lol.

obviously, with the techies comes wealth and sometimes opulence. i believe that is what he was referring to w the w__ tw__ reference.... i agree with everything "Reasonable and Just" said but that added input.

Agree, even though I don't live there. It seems ridiculous that so many of the companies in that area will only employ people in that region. I personally know people with very advanced IT skills who refuse to take jobs there because the cost of living is so high.

In the old days, a corporation would have branch offices around the US. No reason why these tech firms can't do the same - open offices in other locations where workers have the option of living in a less congested area with a reasonable cost of living. Easy to do with today's technology.

The way they're doing things now is pretty archaic and unfair to people who live in that region. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to live with the constant sprawl, long commutes, heavy traffic, pollution and skyrocketing housing prices. I haven't visited the area since the 1980's and it was pretty congested then. It must be very difficult now.

Same with the PNW - Pacific Northwest.

THANK YOU. texas has sprawling land and many willing workers!!!! many places they could build. why here in this small area? i know tech "was born" here but shouldn't tech allow for working from other areas??? there are stickers all over san jose that says "san jose hates google" its a common native sentiment. (they are building a googleplex in ALREADY CONGESTED downtown sj / diridon, buying up all the surrounding older modest homes to rip down and rebuild to house their employees etc etc..... and nothing has been done to improve infrastructure at all..... they are trying to force public transpo on everyone by making downtown difficult to navigate and it would be a good idea if the busses came more often and the city wasn't sprawling..... i have kids i cant hop on the bus at 7 am they need to get to school..... )

sorry that was off topic but it explains some of his comments and thoughts although he really twisted them the wrong way!!!

Yes, I know someone who was offered a web development job at Netflix. The complicated mess necessary to get to work each day was crazy. Drive a long distance to a parking lot where you met a company bus/van that then drove you a long distance to the office with others. Then reverse the process in the evening. The pay offered was more than twice what they were earning, but all they would be able to afford was a small 1 bedroom apartment.

Austin, TX is going through the same thing now. Major sprawl, traffic congestion, rising cost of living. Most tech people don't want to live outside of Austin area as the rest of the state tends to have a similar view of tech people that the spree killer had. It's not friendly. A lot of tech folks have moved there, then left after 6 months or a year. I could see something similar happening there eventually, but hope it doesn't.

The Aryan race are Iranians .

Certainly desired by Nazis. Aryan - Wikipedia

During the 19th century it was proposed that "Aryan" was also the self-designation of the Proto-Indo-Europeans.[8] Based on speculations that the Proto-Indo-European homeland was located in northern Europe, a 19th-century hypothesis which is now abandoned, the word developed a racialist meaning.[8]

The Nazis used the word "Aryan" to describe people in a racial sense. The Nazi official Alfred Rosenberg believed that the Nordic race was descended from Proto-Aryans, who he believed had prehistorically dwelt on the North German Plain and who had ultimately originated from the lost continent of Atlantis.[30] According to Nazi racial theory, the term "Aryan" described the Germanic peoples.[31] However, a satisfactory definition of "Aryan" remained problematic during Nazi Germany.[32]

The Nazis considered the purest Aryans to be those that belonged to the "Nordic race" physical ideal, known as the "master race" during Nazi Germany.[note 5] Although the physical ideal of the Nazi racial theorists was typically the tall, fair-haired and light-eyed Nordic individual, such theorists accepted the fact that a considerable variety of hair and eye colour existed within the racial categories they recognised. For example, Adolf Hitler and many Nazi officials had dark hair and were still considered members of the Aryan race under Nazi racial doctrine, because the determination of an individual's racial type depended on a preponderance of many characteristics in an individual rather than on just one defining feature.[34]

Apparently the Nazis used the word to describe their own ideal race, not necessarily people that are from Iran. It seems they think Aryans are from Northern Europe.

Based on my limited understanding of "young-folk speech", I think his reference to folks from Silicon Valley was not actually aimed at women, although the slur refers to female anatomy. It's that all-too-common behavior of putting down white men he doesn't like by "feminizing" them. Still plenty misogynistic. It seems this shooter was just a creature of pure malevolence.
I agree. To me it wasn't anything that I don't regularly see on certain Instagram accounts. To me it sounded like he hated the people in the Silicon Valley, and stated he didn't understand why they were packing people into the area. To me it sounded like hate for all

I'm really angry because I feel entitled to have women want to date me and have sex with me but I'm super creepy so they won't. So I'm really angry.
I had to google the definition of incel. I am utterly shocked.

Yes. Let's be clear. The contemporary white power/neo-Nazi movement considers both Persians and Italians (as well as Greeks, Turks, Spaniards, Portuguese, etc.) to be "mud races".

However, various disgruntled youth who would not be considered to be part of the Nordic "pure" races are drawn to this angry, hateful ideology and embrace it because it's evil - not because they fit.

Yes, hatred of others not like themselves seems to be the common thread through its ugly history. During the early 1900's, the KKK also hated Catholics, including Italians. That somehow morphed into some facets of the Prohibition Movement - because Catholics drink wine. Crazy stuff, it seems to morph and change every few generations.

Now its ok to drink and many of this ilk do hard drugs, including meth. Go figure.

BBM.

Well, that's actually not true as your link shows. While the term appropriately refers to people of Indian descent and Iranians adopted it, etc., the Nazis did not interpret it to describe anyone but Nordic peoples:

"Drawing on misinterpreted references in the Rig Veda by Western scholars in the 19th century, the term "Aryan" was adopted as a racial category through the works of Arthur de Gobineau, whose ideology of race was based on an idea of blonde northern European "Aryans" who had migrated across the world and founded all major civilizations, before being diluted through racial mixing with local populations. Through the works of Houston Stewart Chamberlain, Gobineau's ideas later influenced the Nazi racial ideology which saw "Aryan peoples" as innately superior to other putative racial groups."

From your link.

All that matters is without rhyme or reason, various people (including those with Jewish and black ancestry), have adopted the ideology or promoted it, simply because they're stupid and alienated losers, some of whom are self-hating.

Wasn't there another recent mass murderer/shooter who actually had a black father or something and hated him so he adopted Nazi ideology?

None of these cowards are capable of logic.

Yeah, I thought he was talking about successful computer nerds. Kind of like how people used to criticize "Yuppies."
I think he just hated everybody.

Yes, in his mind, it was probably him against the world and all it's injustice. Imo

Well, except the Nazis interpretation was quite different so it's not really the same.

We really don't have enough information to determine what this guy's motive was. It's hard to tell from a few instagram posts.

And there is not really a common profile that fits with all mass shooters.
What I have read from the past thirty years of research, though, there are a few factors that have played a role in the motive behind these types of shootings.

One is the desire for notoriety. They want to be seen as a hero standing up for a cause. They are looking for glory or attention. ( like Dylan Roof)

Another is, of course, mental illness. One study showed that about half of Mass shooters suffered from a mental health disorder. Adam Lanza had years of therapy with psychologists but never was found to have a disorder that would suggest violent behavior.

Another thing many have in common is a history of domestic violence.

The other thing some have in common is a sense of grievance. They believe they have been wronged by a person, maybe their place of employment, or a certain demographic group.

Other characteristics are that they are often resentful, paranoid, or narcissistic.

I'm sure there are others, too. It's probably hard to come up with any explanation that makes sense.

It's even harder to find the solution.
Imo
