CA - Murder victims Identified as Rob Reiner and wife Michele - LA Dec 14 2025

That tells me he may have killed them in a homicidal frenzy with many stab wounds. We see that all the time here at WS. He may have cut himself accidentally during the attack.
This will all come out if it ever gets to trial.
One of the news clips posted earlier, describing NR's arrest process, mentioned that NR doesn't drive, and speculated that he may have taken public transit to the location on Vermont St. where he was arrested (oddly, the clip does not mention the hotel aspect).

So that would suggest his transport to the hotel was also using public transport or perhaps an Uber or taxi etc.

If NR was covered in blood (his own or his parents) sufficient to create a mess as has been reported seen in the hotel room, it's hard to picture him taking a bus or even a taxi in such a condition.

Maybe we'll learn that the hotel mess was from trying (poorly) to rinse out bloody items. Or maybe, as someone suggested upthread, there was a self-harm component to what happened in the hotel room that was later controlled. MOO

Could also be uber or one of those driverless taxi's in LA

Altho, isn't that lawyer more likely to claim LAPD have framed him for a murder he didn't commit, in order to cover up their own responsibility?

Like that other famous LA guy who got off from the charge of stabbing two people, what's his name...orange juice...
Being framed by LE would never fly in this case.
I’m sure there is TONS of evidence that proves that no other person could have done these horrific acts.
For all we know at this point, NR may be owning up to it.
The only thing I can think of that a Defense lawyer could do is plead insanity. Jmo

Our laws are screwy compared to the rest of the reasonable world
It's the same in Canada, and I think in most of what we call the 'free world'. It was a reaction to what was seen as intolerable abuse of people who were simply neurodivergent or out of tune with social expectations.

For example, we've had cases here where a son died/was killed by harsh measures after being committed involuntarily to a therapy camp, and demands that the government shut the camps down.

I don't personally believe that it's always the government's fault that we live in an imperfect world.

Most Uber's have camera's actively recording. His demeanor during those trips will be scrutinized.

I'm wondering if his parents dropped him off at the hotel after the party, "You're on your own. Come back when you can behave decently."

And then he went back to the house via public transit to kill and then back to the hotel location where he made a mess in the room. Seems like he was arrested across the street from the hotel by a park?

Correct me I'm wrong! I'm trying to piece it together.

I feel so sad for the siblings. To know that one’s brother did this has to make the loss even more painful. Heartbreaking.

I believe he was arrested closer to downtown L.A. (near USC?) but I'll see if I can find confirmation of that.

It's horrible, but it also looks like they have a close-knit group of caring people around them. The daughter called Billy Crytal and he was there instantly.

The LAPD Gang and Narcotics Unit on Monday posted the since-deleted photos of Nick Reiner, 32, being detained near a Metro station just 15 miles from Rob and Michele Reiner’s California home.

That is my thinking as well. Got his room, perhaps did some more drugs, then went and committed the crimes, before returning to the hotel, perhaps through a back entrance. I wonder whether he murdered them while they slept, early Sunday morning.
I thought that I read that he had moved back into their guest house; you know, the one that he had trashed several times. Yet, his parents forgave him and permitted him to move in again??

I wonder if he committed the murders and then fled that scene and checked into a hotel at 4 am.??

I thought that I also read that an observer at the hotel said that he seemed "tweaked out." I looked up that phrase and it has to do with Meth and being agitated and manic.

JMO.

He projected the source of his problems onto his parents. Now that they're gone he's going have even worse problems, while slowly realizing that they were never the actual problem to begin with.

I respect your comment, but I just doubt he will ever/realize
realize the "source" of his problems. Just MO.

I had so much respect for Alan Jackson, the prosecutor. Now, not so much.
Where in the world did Nick come up with the funds to hire this caliber defense attorney? They don't come cheap!

I can see this going years before there is any trial. Maybe I'll check back here in 2030.
(Just kidding, but this is messed up California where cases like this can take 5-7 years, or more, to finally be resolved)
On the other hand, why not let him sit in jail for a good long time? Like - okay Nick, we know how eager you are to get out, but we'll get around to this when it's convenient to us, not to you.

He's too ill to come to court but still manages to hire a high dollar atty.

Whomever hired this attorney is just playing into the life of privilege without consequences that has led NR to the place he is now.

I think he is still a danger to anyone that gets between him and his drug abuse. I think he needs a lock-down mental facility under a court order or sentence.

He didn’t seem to be covered in blood in the photos of his arrest.

He was near a subway station when arrested.

He needs to be locked up for life. He is a living nightmare. JMOO
