He's too ill to come to court but still manages to hire a high dollar atty.
IMO we don't know who has hired the attorney to represent him. and it sounds as if he is not the one deciding to come or not come to court. He hasn't been medically cleared, meaning someone else is making that determination.

He didn’t seem to be covered in blood in the photos of his arrest.

He was near a subway station when arrested.

Wasn't he living with his folks though? Couldn't he have changed at the Reiner home before leaving?

One report on Showbiz 411 suggests Michele, 70, was still alive when she was found and died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital after she had told first responders her son was the one who attacked them.

The Los Angeles Police Department has not officially confirmed any details of where in the house the Reiners' bodies were found.
Rbm.
Bolded is new to me ?
Do not know if the red bolded is accurate, and even the Daily Mail has put in a caveat which is unusual for them.

Still it would track , as if you're able to stay conscious and breathe for a while you could be able to say who did it, while being treated.
So many layers of awful to all of this.

Eta : Other sources say their daughter found them both deceased.
Hope it was fast and like going to sleep and waking up in heaven.

What irks me and always will is that while it's sad Nick had issues, he was provided for and I believe loved -- and this was his response.
Ungrateful thing.
Imo.

It's the same in Canada, and I think in most of what we call the 'free world'. It was a reaction to what was seen as intolerable abuse of people who were simply neurodivergent or out of tune with social expectations.

For example, we've had cases here where a son died/was killed by harsh measures after being committed involuntarily to a therapy camp, and demands that the government shut the camps down.

I don't personally believe that it's always the government's fault that we live in an imperfect world.

JMO
Government is not responsible how each and every person acts. Moo

Where in the world did Nick come up with the funds to hire this caliber defense attorney? They don't come cheap!
If he is in their will he will get the cash available in say, Schwab or some other account. I know that because I got part of my inheritance when my mom passed recently right away. The rest of her estate won’t be settled until the house sells. Moo

Slayer laws prevent murderers from benefiting from the estates of their victims. no matter what the will says. So he has zero access to his parents money or assets and if found guilty of their murders he never will.

I’m not a murderer so maybe that’s why I got it as fast as I did. Lol. Thank you. I didn’t know that 😉

I felt the same way when I heard of Rob's passing as I did when I heard of Robin's. The loss of a soul who brought joy and warmth to so many, taken away too soon. Leaving an irreplaceable void. The world is a far lesser place without both of them.

i do not remember where I was when Robin died, but I do remember where I was when John Lennon was killed. I truly feel this death is going to be equal to that.
I have just always declared that Rob Reiner was the most meaningful Entertainment person to me, during my lifetime. I feel I have grown up and grown old with him....

from the DA: if it doesn't come from us, the ME's office or LE, there is a good chance it is untrue or misleading information.

agreed, the defense will likely put the victims on trial and paint their client as the true victim :(

We all probably have this thought swimming through our brains....
But.. There is just SO much anger with this man, their son.... it's almost as if "how dare you drag these two people in your mud, you defense attorney you"
It is just such a well known given that they tried so very hard (even if they might have pushed him to rehabs at times).... I just find myself wishin' that this man declares his guilt right away...

Wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin'
Plannin' and dreamin'

LE: evidence gathered led to Nick. He was located and taken into custody without incident in the expedition park area of our city.

DA fielding questions

why special circs? One of those special circs is multiple murders. That is the reason for that charge in this case.

How did LE find Nick? Good police work, narcotics division.

Watching presser on abc. DA said can believe any info that comes from them only really. The pictures being shown of the family and him are so sad. He was so flat in the later times. Very different appearance than when in his healthy years of course.

This is going to be a hugely high profile case, I can see an already high profile attorney offering his services for even more exposure.

It's also entirely possible that people whose beliefs are at odds with the Reiner's have already started donating to a defence fund. I certainly wouldn't be surprised in the current climate unfortunately.

Could also be uber or one of those driverless taxi's in LA
If he ubered to the house, that will be some solid evidence placing him at the murder scene at a specific time.
