Possibly a borderline personality disorder. No treatment for that.Personality disorder psychiatry definition "a deeply ingrained pattern of behaviour of a specified kind that deviates markedly from the norms of generally accepted behaviour, causing long-term difficulties in personal relationships or in functioning in society."
The more I read about NR, the more convinced I am that he has a personality disorder, rather than a long term mental illness. However, due to his addiction issues, it's certainly possible there was also some drug induced psychosis at play.

I read that he has a lawyer now- Alan Jackson. That's all I know about him.Does California have Insanity defense? Probably. But seriously, if that crazy movie theater shooter in Colorado didn't get the "Insanity" stamp, geez, the bar must be pretty high.
Would he be eligible for any inheritance cash for his defense? From people he killed? Or just a public defender?
I read that Rob brought him to keep an eye on him. Maybe worried that he'd have used drugs at home alone or with a friend.Just an aside...this young man who had a very long-standing drug problem was brought along to a Hollywood party presumably by his parents? The very last place someone with his history should have been at. There's usually a lot of drinking at these parties and possibly drug use?
I'm not famous but have been at some of these parties in the past. Open bar, also marijuana and other drugs. I'm talking forty years ago (I'm old) but I don't think things have changed much.
I'm glad it was changed from $4million to NO Bail. Murder should be no bail. Wouldn't want a rich person with a grudge against Reiner to bail Nick out.from the jail site
Bail
Total Bail Amount NO BAIL
Total Hold Bail Amount 0.00
Grand Total NO BAIL

I think he resented his grandfather, too.I suspect he never even tried to hold one. After all, he was from a "good" family
Not lost on me that he seemed to resent his father's success and yet also seemed to think that success should afford him a life of ease and a nonstop party.
I pray the parent's money isn't going toward his defense.Oh no, not AJ again with his third-party culprit defense strategy! With all due respect for his work, of course. But... three times in a year.?!

If he has some type of personality disorder, he will never get to that place. He projected the source of his problems onto his parents. Now that they're gone he's going have even worse problems, while slowly realizing that they were never the actual problem to begin with.
I can see this guy volunteering his services to get his name and face out there! He'll get on all the podcasts and talk shows. This trial will be a money maker for him. This is going to be a hugely high profile case, I can see an already high profile attorney offering his services for even more exposure.
It's also entirely possible that people whose beliefs are at odds with the Reiner's have already started donating to a defence fund. I certainly wouldn't be surprised in the current climate unfortunately.
I'm quite sure that his siblings will make sure that he doesn't inherit anything!I doubt there was much coherent thought involved. He probably in his drug or psychosis fueled mind saw killing them as a means to remove their continued impeding him living the way he wanted. He may even have thought with them dead he would inherit their wealth and the party would never have to stop.
I am pretty confident their estate plan will end up containing a trust to hold and oversee any funds he might inherit from their estates so he basically killed them for nothing. IMO
From the article:One report on Showbiz 411 suggests Michele, 70, was still alive when she was found and died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital after she had told first responders her son was the one who attacked them.
The Los Angeles Police Department has not officially confirmed any details of where in the house the Reiners' bodies were found.
Rob Reiner and wife Michele had throats slit in their bed
I wonder if his parents could track him on their phones?
