CA - Murder victims Identified as Rob Reiner and wife Michele - LA Dec 14 2025

  • #2,641
I actually know that Romy would be asked questions by LE both at the active scene and later.

Did I give the impression that I thought Romy would not be interviewed or that she wouldn’t be honest with investigators immediately?

My opinion was that the roommate being a friend and neighbor knew of the problems of the family; had an immediate thought and served the Nick tea to the responding authorities while RR was still processing the event.

All imo
I guess I am confused as to why you appear to have taken my opinion post as being critical of yours or argumentative?

As mine said, in the absence of evidence, it is entirely possible things happened as you theorized. Just as it is also entirely possible that things happened as TMZ initially described. In other words, your theory is just as valid as mine. Did I give you the impression I was arguing with you or personalizing in my post?

I’m sorry that I misunderstood the post.

I did try back up my opinion with updated reputable msm links and quotes.

Please accept my apologies for getting froggy with my reply.

NO worries whatsoever. I wasn't in any way trying to be argumentative or dismissive. you've shared links to why you theorize as you do and I've shared mine supporting my own theory. Either of us could be correct or not. Sorry if you felt I was picking at you that was not my intent.

Since this article describes Romy as so distraught after finding her father that she had her roommate call 911 I suspect the roommate, the reporting person, helped meet responding officers at the home.

The roommate with her helicopter view, not the Reiner family view, I believe succinctly summed up the situation for the officers as she sees it; Nick is dangerous.

Romy had "fled the house" called Billy Crystal finding out about her Mother from emergency responders when she returned.

This Guardian article is a summary of the New York Times article which is behind a paywall for non subscribers.

>
The therapist contacted their daughter Romy Reiner, who lives nearby, who entered the house and found Rob Reiner’s body. The Times said that Romy “fled the house in anguish” without realizing that her mother’s body was also inside, and that her roommate, who had accompanied her, called 911. Emergency responders then discovered Michele Singer Reiner’s body.
>
The person quoted by the Times also disputed several details that had previously been reported. He said that Romy had told emergency responders that Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property but did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.
>
The source also disputed widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly “apprehensive” over Nick’s behavior in recent weeks, saying the family were “accustomed to working through [Nick’s] problems together”.
>
The source said that while he was not in a position to say whether Rob had “rebuked” his son for disruptive behavior at the party, suggestions the pair had a “heated argument” were not correct.
>

>
Accompanied by a roommate, Romy went to open the gate and check on her parents, where she found her father deceased. She quickly fled the house, had her roommate call 911, and reached out to Rob's longtime friend, Billy Crystal.
>
Rob Reiner's Daughter Had No Idea Her Mom Was Dead After Discovering Dad's Body, Family Friend Reveals

>
Crystal and David were spotted separately at the Reiner's’ home on Sunday, where a neighbor told ABC 7 Los Angeles that Crystal “looked like he was about to cry” while visiting. Both stars stayed briefly before leaving, according to TMZ.
>
Crystal’s rep denied reports that he saw the Reiner's’ bodies during his visit, saying that Crystal and his wife were not allowed that close to the residence.
>

Imo, Romy was so traumatized at the time she didn’t know what to think having found her father dead then the news that her mother is dead also. I think she would be still be in a paralyzing state of disbelief.

all imo
BBM

And of course, at that point, she wouldn't have known for sure whether Nick was even still alive. For all she knew, she was about to be told that he'd been killed, too

"Harvey Levin said on Monday that the alleged killer is
'not competent to stand trial right now'.

'He is almost childlike in jail, we're told.
He can't process the consequences of what he's done.
He knows what he did.

He just can't understand where he is right now,
and I know that sounds crazy,
but he is out of his head right now'.

Levin added that the killings were 'incredibly brutal'.
'We know people in the medical examiner's office who are traumatized just by the pictures',
he said,
adding that the killings had
'all the markings of a meth murder'
and that Nick had been using the hard drug at the time."

I think he knows darned well what he did. I don't think he was insane at the time. I think he feels justified in the killing and just wants to be free to live his life and continue to do drugs on his parents dime.

IMO, NR attacking the victims during a meth induced rage seems more likely than the earlier version where his physician changed his meds that were working for no reason other than NR complained about weight gain.

I think he knows what he did, too! He may even have a bit of remorse, sadness that parents are gone.
His tactic, when cornered, feign worse mental illness. He is probably heavily sedated, too, since being in jail. They may have put him back on the psych med that “ worked” before. Also, he is still in the grips of “recovery”, getting clean from street drugs. Trying to get him stable for court.

I must say, in my opinion, I believe that Nick is pretending to be like a little confused child.

There has been no previous descriptions by others of him acting like a shy little confused child previous to the brutal murders. But now all of a sudden he is just an innocent little harmless boy?

In previous podcasts Nick has admitted to 'acting crazy' to get what he wants from others. He acts crazy as a form of manipulation. He bragged about doing so.

He has never been described previously, of not being able to process things like 'consequences' of his bad actions. But now, coincidentally, he has no idea that murdering your parents means you have to go to jail ?

Adding to my previous comment... IMO only, I don't think it's fair to ever let Nick free as his siblings -- and any others in his orbit whom he may feel wronged him --could be in very, very serious danger.
To murder your own parents who I believe cared for him the most is about the lowest you can go.
There is nothing he wouldn't stoop to after this.

He can get treatment in a mental facility or prison, but he needs to be locked away for the remainder of his life.
Even if stabilized and also if he says he's just fine and doing well, if he were to relapse again I feel more people could be at risk if Nick was given freedom.
This comment is only about Nick Reiner and no one else, as others have maybe had drug/mental issues but harmed no one and have been able to make better choices and accept help -- this is not about them.

By freedom even a monitored situation like a halfway house where Nick would be free to come and go; could be unwise, as imo he could seek out his former life choices and/or take revenge on others for perceived injustices.

I accept that he could have been high on meth but mental illness is still there so it is a combo of both things. I know many people hate him and want death row or life in prison but because of his mental illness, I still have empathy for him. I believe he most likely will be sent to prison for life and his mental illnesses will go untreated for the remainder of his life. There are states that will take mentally ill murderers and send them to get treated for their illness by stablizing them with finding the correct medication, and then transfer them to prison to serve their remainder of time in the mental health ward within the prison. Here their medication can be given to them and enforced by a judge if their behavior is dangerous to their own health or to others within the prison system. Unfortunately, CA isn't one of these states. They just send the mentally ill to prison. According to this article by Stanford Law School and co written by former Senator Darrell Steinberg:

"The numbers are staggering: over the past 15 years,
the number of mentally ill people in prison in California
has almost doubled.1 Today, 45 percent of state prison
inmates have been treated for severe mental illness
within the past year. The Los Angeles County Jail is
“the largest mental health provider in the county,”
according to the former official in charge of the facility."

Dorothea Dix is rolling in her grave. I have read that there are a handful of prisons with mental health wards in California and if Nick is sent to prison for life, I do hope the judge will place him into one of these and I will be okay with this. I agree with many that he shouldn't be free or let out into the public ever again but I want him to get forced mental health treatment for life and the judge has the power to do this. Imo

What's different? Wasnt NR acting same outside of jail, is this not "norm" behavior for him? jmo

Nick Reiner — accused of killing his parents Rob and Michele Reiner — is reportedly acting “childlike” and in a “delirious” state in jail.Latest here -- plus more on his 2020 conservatorship:

Bbm.
Highly doubt that he'll go untreated.
Just for the safety of the prison guards and/or mental hospital staff, they'll certainly treat him, imo.
His own siblings may ensure he has access to any meds he needs, the funds are there.

Wanting firm justice for the victims, does not equal hate.
People may hate NR elsewhere, but I have not seen comments here stating as such ?
Most have been more sympathetic than otherwise.

I can't imagine how difficult this is for his siblings, and esp. for Rob and Michele's daughter, Romy, as the memory is going to make it hard for her to go on with her life.
My sympathy is for the victims and their children.

Nick was given more opportunities than most and he squandered it.
His parents were kind enough to try to listen to him, and try it Nick's way, even possibly against some doctor's advice ?
Also wanting death row doesn't mean people hate him, it means they want to see justice done for a couple who didn't deserve the brutal fate that was meted out to them.

Anyone else exhausted by the ‘sources’ and ‘insiders’ who have all sorts of information to share about NR? I don’t trust any of ‘em. JMO.

I bet he can’t actually process that he brutally murdered his parents who loved him and did everything possible for him….but mommy and daddy are no longer there to fix it for him…..now there are real consequences.

I bet his brother and sisters and all those close to this family are having an extremely difficult time processing that their brother brutally murdered their mother and father….that is who my thoughts are with.

Me either. First the stories roll out about a change of medication being responsible for NR brutally murdering his parents and now big surprise, reports are he’s acting crazy in jail, might not be competent to stand trial. In reality he might still be detoxing.

If more details about the condition of the horrifying crime scene had been released, the initial ‘pitiful guy’ ploy wouldn’t have been so successful. Perhaps AJ was only hired to write the script to publicly plant the sympathy seed and never intended to stay on till the end?

Double first degree murder with special circumstances, this case isn’t about winning regardless of how many ‘sources’ and ‘insiders’ offer up information. I think you’re right, I also don’t trust any of it. The agenda is all too obvious.

Words such as shockingly brutal, butchered, carnage….is this preparing the public for what will be released at some point?
“The murders were shockingly brutal -- even to the Medical Examiner's staff as well as law enforcement. Rob and Michele Reiner were butchered -- it was carnage.

Harvey and Mark Geragos go through the markings of a meth murder, with the help of Dr. Drew, who also believes the brutality signals Nick was on a drug like meth.”
