Here's a question for contemplation by any and all:
Given the curcumstances surrounding the crime scene, events previous, autopsy report and LE's press conference (where they omitted certain relevant facts) - would you, as a loved one or family member, feel comfortable and be able to accept the suicide ruling?
And, just for the record - NO, I wouldn't and no, I don't.
I'll reserve my thoughts and opinons for a later time.
No, I would not accept what we have thus far - what has been released to the public and what the Zahau's have stated. However, I don't know if they have been given more information that the family has not publicized.
What would make the suicide scenario more plausible for me would be this:
1. AS seemed very believable. Very, very shocked and distraught by what happened, took and passed a poly, could account precisely for everything he did in the hours leading up to Rebecca's death, no accounts of any rage on his part toward Rebecca, no information via criminal records, medical records or gossip from those that know him, that he has any kind of mental issues or anger problems. No evidence that AS was ever upstairs or in the room where Rebecca went off the balcony.
2. DS and JS's movements show they were at the hospital the entire time since the hour AS claims dinner ended.
3. Nothing in DS, AS or JS's phone records to suggest they planned something evil.
4. Independent corroboration that JS, AS and Rebecca went out to dinner and during a specific time.
5. No evidence placing DS or JS at the scene at all.
6. DS and JS took and passed a poly. (Although I know that since they were dealing with the recent death of their child, this may be a lot to ask).
7. DS and JS seemed shocked and surprised by what happened to Rebecca.
8. Rebecca had some knowledge of knot tying.
9. The exact wording of JS's message to Rebecca indicated no hope for Max. His phone shows he placed a call to her.
So far, what makes a case for a suicide is the fact that apparently, there is no evidence of anyone other than Rebecca having handled the ropes, walking around on the balcony, handling the paint, the brushes, etc. Also, the whereabouts of DS and JS have apparently been confirmed to the ME's satisfaction. But, I'd like to see more info on that.
Such a video would certainly confirm for me that her death wasn't a hired hit. I'll never believe a hitman would spend so much time and effort to make her death look like a homicide.
JMO
Why not? It happens all the time. They just shoot someone or beat someone to death and then leave. The case is supposed to remain "unsolved". As long as the person requesting the hit cannot be traced to the event, the hit will be deemed successful by that person.
And if it wasn't a hit, but instead, a rage attack of some sort, well, oftentimes people committing such murders are not methodically thinking it through and/or have not planned what to do after the fact or thought how it might look. And sometimes, rage filled murderers don't care too much if they are caught. They just want revenge or some kind of sick satisfaction. Like Ramon Salcido, Timothy McVeigh, Ramazan Acar, Gabriel Armandariz, etc. etc. So the fact that it wasn't made to look like a suicide or an accident, does not tell me that it wasn't murder.
