I have not seen where LE declares someone "innocent"during an ongoing investigation. They may say the alibi checks out and a person may not be a suspect at "this time". The media is known for misinterpreting events and when they summarize they could have used those words, but not LE. JMOBut I have seen them do so in many other cases. In Sherri Papini case for example, we were all looking sideways at her husband. And LE kept pronouncing him as innocent, pretty early on, by saying his alibi was valid.
And I have seen it done many times when kids go missing. They often pronounce the parents as 'cleared' pretty early to protect them from public bashing etc.
