California Explosion at fertility clinic in Palm Springs, at least one dead, May 2025

The media outlet said law enforcement had recovered an audio recording by the man that laid out his motivations, which included philosophical objections to being born without consent.

from the above link...
"That briefing also said police had found two rifles — an AK-47 and an AR-platform rifle — along with ammunition next to the exploded vehicle."

Seems me this person planned to use those weapons, and that the car possibly exploded prematurely. Plus he was out of the car, not inside.
Thank heavens this wasn't worse than it already is.

also ..."FBI had confirmed the suspect was the sole fatality."
"the focus was the last known home of the suspected bomber, whom the station identified as a 25-year-old man"

I had no idea there was such a thing as a pro mortalist (or anti-natalist).

The bomber at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, has been identified as a 25-year-old man who left an online manifesto in which he described himself as a pro-mortalist, saying people didn’t give consent to exist.

The suspect is Guy Edward Bartkus, a 25-year-old man from Twentynine Palms, a small city about 35 miles northeast of Palm Springs. He left a 30-minute audio recording in which he explained his motive for the attack.

Wowzers. Lots about the bomber's so-called philosophy here.

Suspect behind Saturday’s deadly bombing at a Palm Springs fertility clinic as 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus, a resident of Twentynine Palms, California.

In the aftermath of the attack, federal agents executed a search warrant at Bartkus’ residence on Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms.

Ummm...

Law enforcement sources told BNO News that Bartkus attempted to film Saturday's attack by setting up a camera on a tripod. However, the video reportedly failed to upload to his personal website.

On that same website, Bartkus included a FAQ section where he referenced a close friend named Sophie, who he claimed shared his philosophical beliefs. He claimed Sophie had recently died after convincing her boyfriend to shoot her in her sleep.

Bartkus's account appears to align with the April 20 death of 27-year-old Sophie Tinney in Fox Island, Washington. Tinney died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Her boyfriend, 29-year-old Lars Eugene Nelson, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Prosecutors allege the act may have been premeditated and that Tinney may have convinced Nelson to shoot her in the head while she slept.

Authorities were still working to confirm the identity of the person who died at the scene. Davis would not directly say whether that person was the suspect but said authorities were not searching for a suspect.

Davis also said four people were hurt but provided no additional details on the severity of the injuries. Authorities were also investigating the possibility that the explosion was being livestreamed.

Nima Tabrizi, 37, of Santa Monica, said he was inside a cannabis dispensary nearby when he felt a massive explosion.

ā€œThe building just shook, and we go outside and there’s massive cloud smoke,ā€ Tabrizi said. ā€œCrazy explosion. It felt like a bomb went off. ... We went up to the scene, and we saw human remains.ā€
It’s a relief to see that the FBI is treating this as an act of terrorism. Of course that’s what it is, but the definition of terrorism is changing these days, not always in a good way.

ā€œBasically, it just comes down to I’m angry that I exist and that, you know, nobody got my consent to bring me here.ā€

ā€œI’m very against [IVF], it’s extremely wrong. These are people who are having kids after they’ve sat there and thought about it. How much more stupid can it get?"

"It doesn't matter what side or religion or wherever you come from, to take that opportunity, to have a family, and to grow life, away from somebody is so profoundly wrong just in every way."

Palm Springs Mayor Pro Tem Naomi Soto called the clinic ā€œa place of hope.ā€
ā€œThis is a building that people go to to start or expand their families,ā€ she said. ā€œWe acknowledge their pain and concern across the community for the patients and staff.ā€

How strange that there are violent extremists out there who oppose In vitro fertilization, surrogacy and same sex marriage.

It's not just this idiot, its apparently a movement of sorts. I don't understand how some people can find so many things to hate instead of respecting the privacy of others.

ETA: We need to revive the old practice of minding one's own business.

Call me crazy, but no one gives consent to be here. And it sort is is the main purpose biologically for life to reproduce…..so….

Him picking a day they were closed seems he might have just wanted a public suicide. Thank goodness no one else was hurt.

My goodness people are really messed up.

He's a bog standard injustice collector, like most bombers and mass shooters.

It's not his fault he hates his life, it's everyone who ever wanted to have a kid. It's society, it's the human race, it's existence itself.

And his malignant anger means he doesn't just want to quietly kill himself, he wants to hurt everyone in a blast radius. I'm just glad that in that, he was unsuccessful.

FYI, therapy is cheaper.

Everyone has an opinion, rightfully so. What separates us from these these dangerous individuals
Is- we don’t feel ENTITLED to harm others or ourselves in order to express what we believe.

This is the craziest ideology, it really speaks to the state of mental health in segments of our society. How big is this ā€œmovement ā€œ as some have called it?
