California Explosion at fertility clinic in Palm Springs, at least one dead, May 2025

Father of Palm Springs explosion suspect details son’s childhood
By the time Guy reached his teens, he was building computers and working with special needs children, his father elaborated.

“He wasn’t dumb, but he wasn’t a leader,” Richard, who, according to NYT is a resident of Yucca Valley, said. “He was a follower. If somebody came along and said this was a good idea, he’d probably go along with it.”

Oh, boy. According to the article above, he was also former military and had a AR-style rifle along with an AK 47. He wasn't known to the FBI prior to this incident.

It really is important to report these types to the FBI when you see/encounter them. Any creep out shooting off an AR style rifle in a residential area or making his own explosives should be considered, especially if they're also abusing alcohol or/and drugs. Don't assume local LE is going to do an adequate job of dealing with these kinds of threats. Better to have more than one agency watching them for problems. JMO
Great advice thanks!!

This was something I was wondering about but hadn't read anything on this case in a while. Makes me wonder what his MOS was and if he had any EOD training

Like they got the goods on this guy. Lot of evidence in the article.

A man from Washington state is facing terrorism charges in connection with last month's attack on a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, federal authorities announced Wednesday.

Daniel Park, 32, has been charged with providing and attempting to provide material support to a terrorist, Bill Essayli, the top federal prosecutor in L.A., said at a news conference Wednesday morning.

Park allegedly helped Guy Edward Bartkus secure 270 pounds of ammonium nitrate, an explosive precursor that can be used to construct homemade bombs.

Bartkus, 25, is suspected of detonating a bomb at American Reproductive Centers in Palm Springs on May 17, killing himself and injuring four people. The blast created a debris field of 250 yards in size, Essayli said.

Days after the bombing, authorities say Park left the U.S. for Europe. Polish law enforcement detained him Friday, and he was arrested Tuesday night at JFK airport in New York after being deported, authorities said. When Park was confronted by Polish authorities, he attempted to harm himself, according to an FBI affidavit.
