CANADA Canada - Billionaire Couple Barry & Honey Sherman Murdered at Home, Toronto, 15 Dec 2017 #24

June 11, 2025
''More than seven years into the investigation, with dozens of people still considered “persons of interest,” the lone detective working the case says he got the idea last month after attending a seminar at police headquarters by the Toronto police intelligence unit.
While artificial intelligence is routinely used these days by police investigators in some jurisdictions, this is the first time it has been applied as an investigative tool in the Sherman case. ''
I cannot read the article but happy to hear they are not giving up and leaving the files to go even colder.

This is infuriating! It seems like they're only doing the bare minimum so they can keep the records sealed. It is clear to me that TPS has no interest in solving this. The question is why?? And why isn't the Sherman family raising h*ll about it? I firmly believe this would have been completely swept under the rug if it weren't for Kevin Donovan.
💯

Look….Donovan hasn’t finished milking the Sherman cow….book….doc…..and, more hogwash. Give it a rest Kevin!

I want to be fair to Donovan: this isn’t “milking the cow” like some of his other activities. He had a scheduled court appearance to ask Yim about the investigation and seek the removal of some of the redactions. He can’t really be faulted when the appearance produces so little new information. He had no idea he’d spend days prepping, only to learn almost nothing of value. The coverage is brief and that seems appropriate.

If he suddenly comes out with another feature-length essay speculating wildly about his imagined perpetrator, *then* I’ll be super annoyed with him again.

But if KD didn’t report it, the public wouldn’t know that not one POi has been cleared by police yet, and all of these individuals are still remain under investigation.
Now I get it…..

Never understood why people (not on websleuths specifically, just in general) are bothered by Kevin Donovan covering this case or even speculating on it himself. What should be the appropriate amount of coverage for the most significant unsolved murder case in Canadian history?

Frankly, there should be 20 more Kevin Donovan's pressing the Toronto Police Service.

A somewhat wealthy healthcare insurance CEO is murdered in the U.S. and it's all hands on deck until a resolution. Here in Canada? Two of the wealthiest citizens in the entire country are murdered and staged in their own home and all the police have done is bumble around during the critical hours of the investigation and assign service members who have never once shown they can handle a case of this magnitude. I can't even get through detective Yim's writing without developing a headache from all the errors.

If I didn't know better, I'd assume the Toronto police would actually rather not solve this or ever bother with it again if they had it their way.

On the contrary, he is really the only one who is still interested in this story. He is writing about other things and doing podcasts on other subjects but I’m glad he’s still interested.
