Anyone who follows his work knows that Kevin Donovan believes Jonathon is responsible for the murders, had financial motivations, came up with his plan very quickly, and carried it out with two friends. Let me agree with you for a minute, and say that KD a) believes JS is the perpetrator, and you are positive it is not JS.

KD is entitled to his opinion, and having an opinion is in itself not irresponsible.

The reality is, the evidence that exists publicly, such as place of death, staging, method, possible motive and so only, points to a family member, according to FBI historical stats.

It is difficult to imagine anyone known to the Shermans, following/stalking/watching them when each of his and her predictable routines were known by many.

Although- there were last minute changes ie missing a meeting, not attending a Xmas lunch etc., wondering if there was any kind of threat made to them resulting in those unexpected cancellations? speculation, imo.

I agree, why watch when you know how predictable they were.
Another thing stands out to me is, why wasn't BS place of business the chosen site for him? Coming out front door, or getting into his car? why the house, unless the person responsible wanted one of the Shermans to see the other murdered. That's personal.
The lack of evidence for a charge baffles me, Either expert or shoddy investigation?
And the usual advice of "follow the money" has produced nothing incriminating. And the reward of a hefty bag of millions hasn't caused someone to talk. To me this is what makes JS suspect. He offered it, knowing no one was going to collect.

I'm wondering if KD has ever been threatened? I feel like we'd hear about it in the news if so and don't think the killers would be brazen enough to risk contact in any form.

I refer again to Lindsay Buziak's dad who did up his own blog and exposes and accuses MANY people he thinks know or are involved in his daughter's crime and criticized the police department in how they handled the case.

I think Buziak was/is at a point where he is consumed (rightfully so) to solve the murder and he didn't care about threats and even went and talked to some bad people to get answers in his daughter's murder - he's determined to go to the end of earth for answers it seems like.

The “old theory” is that KW murdered the Shermans because he was upset about losing the court case.

If it’s unsealed in the ITOs, it’s old and no longer being pursued. This is how we know police looked into the possibility the Shermans were being followed. They unsealed this information when it was abandoned.

Wonder what it's going to take to get the break needed in this case. It's maddening this hasn't been solved.

Barry and Honey suffered in their last moments. I definitely believe one (likely Barry) was forced to watch the other die (I'm not up to date on time of death or many details in this case, IIRC they don't know or haven't let public know who died first and per the article below) and that was done on purpose to cause the utmost horror, pain and anguish to watch a loved one die.

Definitely personal and I think part of the plan for one to watch the other die JMO MOO

If TPS thought the Shermans might have been stalked for months prior, I wonder if they now or in the past fell family members are being stalked? It's been said that only one LE is working on case part time, so not much effort going into a cold case. And if family are paying for private investigation, then it appears to be a waste of money, since nothing new to advance these two cases.

I can't imagine KD not being threatened or stalked? I would think it goes with the territory of crime writing. Maybe his thoughts are so profound the killer is aware KD knows everything and killer isn't taking a chance of being caught or named.

I never thought it was Pharma based, and never suspected the movie producer or KW, and certainly not his kids. I always thought it was bigger up the chain of "motivated experts"
I think BS had discovered something big, and that knowledge needed to be silenced. They were probably under the impression he confided in his wife, therefore she also needed to be silenced...or it was real simple and right infront of everyones face.
I also disagreed with demolishing the home/crime scene. Should never have been released, but obviously the kids hired expensive lawyers who definitely had some clout. Their wish was their command.

The police did not think the Shermans were being followed. They sought evidence that would show anyone following the Shermans. This is one of many things they investigated and ruled out. (They investigated several variations on this idea.)

KD did not understand what he was reading in the ITOs, so he reported, in error, that TPS thought the Shermans had been followed.

The family is not paying for a private investigator. JS has hired a retired detective but that person is more of a liaison with TPS.

Seems expensive to have a private paid person offering services that TPS could provide with legal authority. Can TPS release information about the case to a third party? Isn't that potential for case contamination or loss of evidence chain of command? The retired detective would have any legal authority? (Nice retirement job tho)

I was surprised BS wanted to get involved with this Iranian backer, but money is money, and I hear BS could be ruthless.
But def not govt hit. As to the IDF..... hmmmm....

I do think JS had a personal and financial reason. He was angry and owed BS, but I feel he comes off as a dufus, without the mental ability to execute a perfect plan even with help from his bros....... to me this was an expert hit, with a strange amount of personal drama by placing the bodies (I believe this is the clue. It wasn't just a sick hitman, or a hitman displaying a comedy routine, this was personal)

KD def wants to sell books, and no one can hold him to the fire to prove his suspicions as he hasn't come out and said "whodunnit", but he's been clear he is almost positive and it aligns with TPS line of thinking.
TPS could tell him to reveal what he knows about a crime, but that would get really messy, and I don't think TPS wants to go down that trail, especially since NOK appear to no longer care who or what or how.
If JS is #1 suspect, he has certainly remained in the news, with the donations and builds. Even his sister has been splashing out money from the foundation. I"m not arguing about how they've spent it, which I think was all good, but JS certainly did it in a big way....... personally I would stay quiet and go live remotely off my billions..........

BS wasn’t killed at or outside his work because it was important to kill them both. Easier at home

KD has never admitted to not understanding the ITOs, estate law, the content of the will he was reading, the court judgment he was reading, etc. It drives me crazy and is the reason there is a ton of misinformation out there. The court would flat-out say that references to persons of interest or current investigative activities are redacted, and he would blithely report as though the newly unredacted stuff was the current police theory. Or he would have an actual copy of the will and report that it left everything to Honey, and that she must have had a will that someone destroyed. In the past year or so this has slowed down; perhaps someone with a legal background explained this stuff in a way he finally understood.

On the detective: Rich people like to have liaisons. The detective is doing nothing of any value that I can see, nor would his investigations be useful to the police. His real value is probably as a translator of sorts: he understands TPS jargon and processes and can explain it to whoever hires him. The police cannot give the detective any confidential information. It’s exactly as you joked: a cushy retirement gig.

As for why TPS would investigate whether the Shermans were followed: it’s a double murder investigation. They need to run down all of the possibilities, however unlikely. They got several judicial authorizations for “tower dumps” that would show whether anyone with one of about 300 phone numbers of Sherman associates was travelling with the Shermans. That was a bust. Then they got an authorization that would show burner phones or other unknown numbers travelling with the Shermans. Also a bust. This information was unsealed when the investigation moved on to other things. They also have videos showing the Shermans’ movements on the evening of the murders.
