I am immensely impressed by these citizen protests going on in the USA.. massive turnouts, terrifically controlled voluntarily , men, women, kids, teenagers, bubs in pushers, I saw quite a few astute and politically aware little dogs.. It revived my faith in your ordinary American folks, with their dander up and taking it right up to Trump collectively..

Trump has already said that he doesn't care who protests, he's going to do what ever he wants. Trump has been enabled by making small steps towards global tariffs and finding out that no one is standing in his way. The protests are 2 months too late.

From little things, big things grow.. this is how all citizen protests begin ... with a sense of outrage, that galvanises people of all persuasions, genders, colours, religion, political bias, ... all these things fade into insignificance, when the outrage comes along.. ..one could argue, it's never too late, .. it is always exactly at the right time, when a citizenry gets to a collective' up yours'... it sometimes takes a sudden and inexplicable poke in the eye to drive people out of their homes and take to the streets..

Perhaps it needed this sweeping outrage to motivate.. I agree it would have been less painful if it happened back in November last year, but this is the thing about citizen protest... it does things in it's own time and this time, I think there were quite a few voters who realise they were conned, as well as the ones who KNEW a con was taking place.. I think that momentum is merely beginning, ...

I was at the protest in DC today and it was huge and amazing!!! No clue how many people but I heard someone say it was over 100k. I’m exhausted but feeling very proud of everything I saw today and ready to keep up this momentum to fight!

You’ll either think I’ve drunk some bizarre kool-aid 🤪 or you’ll see things a little differently by the time you finish reading this. 😳😱 Have fun! Apologies for the length.

The economy is suddenly a hot mess. This is not happening by accident or because Trump is stupid about tariffs (he is). Follow the money. Who benefits when the economy collapses? The billionaires who can buy up failed businesses cheap. This is planned destruction of the economy, educational system, federal bureaucracy, courts, etc so an autocracy can be put in place. Trump is surrounded by people who are moving things in that direction. “Move fast and break things.”

Look at the people who are involved. Do a little digging into J.D. Vance, his mentor Peter Thiel who financed his Senate campaign and introduced him to Trump.
Their beliefs echo those of Curtis Yarvin, a philosophical force in Silicon Valley. More names…David Sacks, Trump’s AI and crypto czar. Marc Andreessen—And while Andreessen’s role in the Trump White House is unofficial, The Washington Post reported in January 2025 that the executive “has been quietly and successfully recruiting candidates for positions across Trump’s Washington.” And of course we can’t forget Elon Musk. These tech bros are all intertwined and are seeking power.

This short Time Magazine article provides an introduction and is quite unnerving.

Quoting:
Yarvin has become a kind of official philosopher for tech leaders like PayPal cofounder Peter Thiel and Mosaic founder Marc Andreessen. Not unlike the Futurists, Yarvin advocates for replacing democracy with a kind of techno-feudal state—for the government to be run like a corporation, with the president as its “CEO.” This new system is elitist—“humans fit into dominance-submission structures” Yarvin wrote in 2008; and it’s authoritarian—“If Americans want to change their government, they’re going to have to get over their dictator phobia,” he said in 2012. There are shades of Yarvin’s philosophy in Thiel’s 2009 essay for the Cato Institute, where he wrote “I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.”

I know it sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, but there are a lot of smart people writing about tnis.

Rachel Maddow— Rachel Maddow sounds alarm on JD Vance's pro-dictatorship influences

We are witnessing the methodical implementation of a long-planned strategy to transform American democracy into corporate autocracy. The playbook was written in plain sight and is now being followed step by step. Some dismiss the Yarvins of the world as unhinged nuts, but that's the point. These guys, with their bizarre and dangerous ideas, have gotten very far in 2025. Just look at the news.
BBM
Yarvin pitched his vision as a fictional or unlikely scenario. Unfortunately, it now appears to be our new reality. The press's failure to connect these dots isn't just a journalistic oversight — it's a critical missed warning about the systematicdismantling of democratic governance. By the time most Americans understand what's happening, the "reboot" – the destruction of government – may already be complete.

One of the main architects of this descent into chaos is Peter Thiel. Thiel, along with his network of billionaire fellow travelers deeply embedded in the tech and crypto world, are among the key beneficiaries of Trump-era chaos. While Trump himself seems to act impulsively and without clear vision, he is actually the perfect instrument: A battering ram opening the gates for a new elite order and the fleecing of the U.S. populace who will no longer have functional institutions to protect them from fraud or corruption. The unpredictability of Trump’s tariffs make them even more effective weapons for weakening the foundations of liberal capitalism

We are all up early , Seni.. our tiny brains haven't caught up .... daylight savings ended, and on my bended knee I thank GOD for her mercy, I could not go another day of it...
Today is the day I usually feel sad and that I've lost something. And I do have that feeling.
The feeling will pass.
Yes I'm in mourning today for my daylight saving going, The darkness will come sooner now.
I will be fine tomorrow as I think about the cosy nights which seem to begin at 5pm, and sometimes 4.30 when winter kicks in and my long dark cold nights are in full swing.

And
I think people everywhere would be wise to stock up on non perishables.
I plan to do my quarterly stock up on hair, health and beauty supplies, plus look into anything else I might need, including clothes.

I've always been a be prepared person. I like to have at least a couple of months supply of many things I use.
I'm not one of those people who like going to the shops every couple of days.

an article about the french overseas territory that got the highest tariffs (tied with lesotho)

Haha! Pardon me, but that's actually fairly funny. I can see those feisty islanders running halibut where once they ran rum. A fishy business, I'd say.

'I hope that the United States and Europe can establish a very close partnership,' the Tesla CEO said during the virtual rally of Italy's Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini.

'I hope it is agreed that both Europe and the United States should move ideally in my view to a zero tariff situation, effectively creating a free trade zone between Europe and North America,' the SpaceX founder continued.

Yeah, he is only worried for his businesses. We (Europeans) are not going to buy Teslas either way. Next time consider that stupid actions have consequences.

One of the protest signs today: "They're eating the checks, they're eating the balances"

The protest I missed today:

Sorry to reply to my own post, but from the link:

"Anyone who thinks protests, lawsuits, and lawfare will deter President Trump must have been sleeping under a rock for the past several years," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement to USA Today. "President Trump will not be deterred from delivering on the promises he made to make our federal government more efficient and more accountable to the hardworking American taxpayers across the country who overwhelmingly re-elected him."

'overwhelmingly' is doing some heavy lifting , there..... Ms Leavitt appears to be oblivious to the long established fact that voters change their minds... it happens all the time which is why power changes from one political party to another on a regular basis, silly child .. .... they can, in fact,, turn on a dime.. Democrat to Republican to Democrat... back to Republican, from the same voter base.. .. what a silly poppet she is...

Yeah, winning by 1.5 percentage points is not considered "overwhelming" anywhere but in Trump Math World.

'''Ted Cruz warns of midterm ‘bloodbath’ if Trump tariffs cause a recession

Texas senator’s comments another sign of Republican unease over ‘reciprocal tariffs’ and stock market plunge.

'The Texan’s comments, made on his Verdict podcast on Friday, were a further sign that the imposition of global “reciprocal” duties on imported goods is causing unease among Republicans.

On his podcast, Cruz warned that tariffs and trade retaliation over the long term could push the US into “a recession, particularly a bad recession – 2026 in all likelihood politically would be a bloodbath”.

“If we’re in the middle of a recession and people are hurting badly, they punish the party in power,” Cruz warned, adding he did not share the White House’s position that the tariffs would usher in “a booming economy”.

But if “every other country on Earth” hits the US with retaliatory tariffs and Trump’s so-called reciprocal levies remain in place, “that is a terrible outcome” that “would destroy jobs here at home, and do real damage to the US economy”.

well... yes, Teddy, that's absolutely correct, and funny you should mention it, it seems that 'every other country ' is , indeed, in the mood for a tit-for-tat tariff volley.. could go on indefinitely.... and there will be winners and losers , and ( stop me if you've heard this before ) the USA will be hit the hardest.....I think you are starting to realise that, Ted......so nerve-wracking,,

Notice that Ted doesn't express concern for the people that are/will be hurting.

Just concern that Republicans might lose power.

Edit: I mean, his constituents could be freezing to death and he would jet off to Cancun as long as Republicans will stay in power.
