" "The Vancouver International Auto Show has removed Tesla as a participant in this week's event, after the automaker was provided multiple opportunities to voluntarily withdraw," Eric Nicholl, executive director for the auto show said.

The safety concerns come as protesters across the United States stage demonstrations targeting Tesla's CEO Elon Musk, who is spearheading the Department of Government Efficiency's move to shrink the federal government.

"The Vancouver Auto Show's primary concern is the safety of attendees, exhibitors, and staff," Nicholl said."

The scariest part is when our “conservatives” start behaving in a revolutionary way.

Seems that it is okay though - to Trump and others - when the far right act in a revolutionary way (January 6th, death threats, harassment ... you know, those "patriot" acts).

Double standards.

"Anti-Tesla protests have erupted across London, part of a broader global movement against Elon Musk.

These demonstrations, which include vandalism of Tesla showrooms and public protests, have an unexpected financial backer: Karla Jurvetson, a prominent Democratic donor from California. A psychiatrist by profession, Jurvetson has contributed over $500,000 to Indivisible Action, a political action group linked to the protests.

Ironically, her ex-husband, Steve Jurvetson, remains one of Musk’s closest allies."

Australians and NZers are joining in the fray, you can't leave an NZer out of anything, ... it ' s not just a USA/unique incident, although, the reasoning behind it is probably unique to each location.. but the bottom line , the spur that ignites the first part of the action, is the ' in your face, sitting right there, the enemy ' way of looking at things, seems to be the instigator across the board.

( '''"The cars are brilliant, but we don't like the direction of the owner and we're voting with our feet," explained Mr Friend, who resides between Hobart and Melbourne.''

Recent incidents of vandalism targeting Teslas in Australia and New Zealand further suggest a backlash against Mr Musk's political stance.

Tesla has not yet commented on these developments. )

I understand an immediate reaction, I know people here in my quiet blue town in MA have written on the town FB about people screaming at them and giving the finger etc in their gross truck tesla's as they go about. Oddly they do come off as Trumpers though. The thing is, they all had their kids with them at these times as well, so people do NEED to think and just ignore seeing them. Cool your jets, but you are right about seeing the enemy. Can't be hotheads though, like the magas.
I can’t imagine screaming at anyone on the street. That’s bizarre.

Thankfully we don’t have anything like that where I live. It would be stressful for me if I had to think of someone as the enemy because they don’t vote the way I do.

Interestingly, our “have-nots” are not the people who recently lost their jobs.
The “have-nots” in our state are the people who have jobs but are barely able to make a living here.
It is quite a problem. We are a technocratic state, so services around are well-developed, too.
But the humongous imbalance in wages and incredibly high cost of living makes lives difficult. People can barely make a payment for a studio in Seattle. Young men who are not in IT have zero value on dating sites.
I see lots of people, and lots of problems to come.
I think it is everywhere else, too.
Canadians, you potentially might have the same problem. I support my state when we stand against sending Afghanistan refugees back home. I shall. But the people who say, “I was born here, why are my taxes spent this way?” - also have a point, because they are barely making a living plus taxes.
You have exactly the same people and I think, there will be exactly the same problems (look at how your provinces vote).
The scariest part is when our “conservatives” start behaving in a revolutionary way.
One reason why I do not doubt that Canadians will solve their problems differently, and by that, I mean less violently than the USA goes about 'solving' stuff, is down to one simple thing, they all have been looked after, and had their health, both physical and mental , treated and been able to access immediate treatment, for themselves and their children and their oldies, all their lives ,and this makes for a SANER society.

They are far, far, better equipped, coming in to and up to deal with trouble.

Well.. I guess you don't live in Washington DC where hordes of badly dressed men and women stormed the seat of government and tried to occupy the Senate and offices of Senators, and the inhabitants of the chamber had to run and hide in the basement and behind cupboards, and what is more, these insurrectionists murdered 2 (TWO) policemen, with impunity, and some have received pardons from the current inhabitant of the highest office in the land, so.......................

Good for the charges for the domestic terrorists. I do hope they get locked up.

I also hope that the next president doesn't just come in and blanket-pardon those who are convicted. That would be a detriment to the actual enforcement and standard of 'law and order'. But I;m not certain that won't happen now that the precedent has been set with the J6er domestic terrorists.

Lock 'em up IMO.
domestic terrorism, really? why, because the cars involved are Musk??? what if the vehicles were general motors or Stellantis? I could not disagree more----I am so disgusted with the state of our government, which is being dismantled at an alarming rate- and let me say clearly no president prior to Trump has trampled over our government the way Trump is-- you may not like some things Obama did or Biden but they never ever ever took us on the path to authoritarian rule, which is what is happening now. No president prior to Trump has thumbed their nose at the judiciary and threatened to impeach a federal judge because they didn't like a ruling!!!!

Seems to me that the unfortunate citizens of the USA, bombarded daily with enormous far reaching edicts, war with Canada, and Mexico and whomsoever, anyone else, medicaid for the chop, social security being made wobbly, insurrection, mayhem, tariffs, taxes, oil price up, food prices up, NO EGGS, and so on, the least that could be expected is some infuriated voter sees a Tesla and sees more than a car, they see the enemy. Just sitting there on the pavement, right in the face.

Excellent point!!!

It's so much more deeper than that. You would have to start reading what has happened since he got in and his friendship with dictator, murderer Putin. Also allowing a non elected person who has no interest in 'the American constitution or it's people. Look at all the healthy and human being supportive agencies trashed. Lots to learn about , the why. Stressful is the hundreds and hundreds of people with families and bills just like you most likely, who have been 'fired' , just because. He did vow revenge, nice going 'president'. So you see...

The Cybertruckers do come off as Trumpers, I agree. I do hope Tesla falls flat on it's face and ruins Musk. Sorry workers, there may be other EV jobs on the other US auto assembly lines in the rust belt or the south.

The best revenge is going to be China's. Worldwide, their EV brands are going to far outsell Tesla and leave Tesla in the dirt until they cease business. China's global transportation and road strategy is going to pay off very well for them.

As the US remains an island of wealthy white people with poor people doing their work for them, China will be knotting together the African, continent, the far Est and Central and South American continents in one big extended territory. Putin should really be worried right now. He's got nothin' to sell to anyone other than fossil fuels.

I think in a decade Putin will be a forgotten old man.

You should've seen what the last four years were like for Biden voters
Those years to feel at peace and in a trusting administration with us and the world as always, were marred by the constant trials and court and loudness of an ex president, marred. Now we have lost precious allies and respect around the world, immediately, why? We know why, everyone around the world will tell you, shameful. The felony count is about 35 of them per his peers in trials and jury of his peers. Americans.

He's thoroughly distrustful of his Vice President... He learned his lesson with former VP Mike Pence. He learned that there may be a line the VP will not cross in their loyalty, so they can never be trusted.

I'm sure this didn't help

Eight years ago, in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, JD Vance was a bitter critic of Donald Trump.
Publicly, he called the Republican businessman an "idiot" and said he was "reprehensible." Privately, he compared him to Adolf Hitler.
"I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical 🤬🤬****e like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler," he wrote privately to an associate on Facebook in 2016.
JD Vance once compared Trump to Hitler. Now, he is Trump's vice president-elect

town hall in Columbus, Neb., Tuesday night, Rep. Mike Flood was asked by the moderator taking written questions if he would oppose “going to war with Canada.”

“Yes,” he responded. “Canada is a long-time, important ally of the United States of America. They have fought next to our soldiers in every major conflict. We share a very peaceful border them.

“The Canadians are good people, I respect them, and I want to cohabitate on North America’s continent with them and I want them to feel respected.”

I call bulls**t.

Here is Mike Flood's comment from just a couple of weeks ago:

Rep. Mike Flood told KETV we shouldn't take a couple bad days on the stock market to say we're not headed in the right direction.

He said Trump has said he'll take care of farmers and ranchers.

"He did that the first time, and to be quite honest, by the end of Trump's first term, our trading relationships were better. Joe Biden didn't lift a finger in four years on trade, and we ended up with a almost $40 billion egg trade deficit, which makes no sense when when we are the greatest agriculturally producing state in the world," said Flood.
Nebraska's Congressional leaders weigh in on tariffs
Flood was just trying to calm down a hostile crowd. He supports Trump.

Or they might do what I remember seeing in a Walmart in Canada a few years ago: a big bin for donations for Walmart employees at Christmas. I couldn't believe my eyes. The largest retailer in the world begging for donations for their employees. What? Why not pay them a living wage instead. Geez.
Where was this?

Because he doesn’t understand how easy it is for an angry crowd yelling “Trump” and essentially, protesting their poor life quality to be turned around if someone promises them banks and land. One never knows how it might turn out one day.

.
They'd have more control over the bird flu if they treated the birds more humanely. Instead of packing them in cages like sardines where they have no life other than pumping out eggs. No wonder the flu is ravaging the industry. I would think the same thing would happen here in Canada too if it took hold here.

Nothing to do with tariffs, but most flus are avian flus. Starting with the first one described around 1000 AD. Birds are natural reservoirs for many viruses, including flus. So maybe “avian flu” implies a certain mutant strain, but truly, the commonest reservoir for influenza is poultry. Treating poultry more humanely and keeping in less crowded conditions helps to avoid new mutants.

Very informative. Thank you.

A wee bit more poetic justice in the sports realm. First Canada wins the 4-Natons cup against the USofA and now another nation threatened with annexation by the USofA gets their elbows up on the soccer pitch and stuns US 1-0 on Waterman's late goal, eliminating Americans from CONCACAF Nations League.

Way to go Panama!! Sweeeeeeeet.
