What then is the answer to a country who steals our intellectual property, floods our markets with cheap goods, manipulates their currency, spy’s on and steals our technology, uses viruses to infect our government computers, viruses to infect our citizens, allowed to fly a spy balloon over our military installations, cyber attacks our grid?

You do realize that the American consumer pays these tariffs on supplies that they need? Surely there is a more reasoned way to deal with international issues.

The Chinese are not flooding the US with cheap goods. American retailers are ordering, purchasing and importing these items for sale in order to make a profit. It's a consumer economy.

Probably just wants to destroy Powell's good reputation, so he has someone else to blame when the US dollar continues its decline due to the mess of the tariffs.

'Look over there, not here'.

imo

IMO, Trump has just been warned that actually firing Powell would make things much worse. Even the most pro-Trumpers would lose confidence in US investments if he did that.

And it's American companies who have chosen to manufacture in China.

Chinese people have no idea what kinds of toys would appeal to American kids. Chinese shoe designers have no idea what styles/sizes Americans would wear. I guarantee, it was not Chinese people who invented tubesocks, or put the logos on t-shirts.

The one thing I own that is 100% Chinese produced is silk long underwear. I am a size 6, but was advised to order XXL, which fits perfectly! Chinese women are a lot smaller than American women. If it were 'China' that was flooding the US market, nothing would fit...

Apparently Trump has finally worked out the answer is not high tariffs. In fact, he is going to be "very nice" to China.

Donald Trump said during a White House news conference that high tariffs on goods from China will “come down substantially, but it won’t be zero”.

Despite his high tariffs, Trump said he would be “very nice” to China and not play hardball with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“We’re going to live together very happily and ideally work together,” Trump said.

"Stonemaier Games, the board game publisher most known for Wingspan, has announced its intention to sue US President Donald Trump over the implementation of high tariffs on goods entering the United States from China.

In the company’s particular case, it now faces unexpected tariff payments of nearly USD $1.5 million. As Stonemaier Games makes clear, this cost is not something that can be absorbed.

The company won’t accept going under, so it’s “compelled to take action.” "

All big bully noise, as strong as wet toilet paper.

"Owner Mark Carey is concerned that climbing tariffs could really make things tight in the food service industry.

Not just food products but the packaging that everyone uses. The majority of it is not produced in this country. Most packaging used in all restaurants comes from China.

This impacts not only what comes from China, but also Mexico. Stuff that you just can't get in America.

"It’s going to just exponentially raise the prices on every dish. There's no two ways about it if that happens," said Carey. "Because a lot of the produce during the off-season all comes from Mexico, a large part of it so, hopefully, they'll get something worked out with the Mexican tariff fees." "

I notice Xi has not responded ,. he's on tour, having a great time, strengthening the bonds of trade throughout Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, SIngapore, Malaysia, etc.. nice time of year to be doing it too, at those latitudes.. Of course, Xi probably has no intention of either responding , or changing the current arrangement... after all they work on a 10 year plan, not a 10 minute one,.

So all of this Trump nonsense will have been factored in, discussed, strategized and dealt with before Trump has pulled on his pants.

All trade treaties that China has instigated over the last weeks will remain, ie, the ban on importation of Soy from the USA< ( 52% of American growers destination ) now goes to Brazil, LNG contracts that previously were with the USA now with Australia, ( and at a very noice proice , too< --- AU accent ) the Ford company has had to cancel it's export of 4000 vehicles,.. and so on, far too much for me to list. Big money gone south for the USA. Just awful.

This is Trump now entering the FO segment of the program.

This is the edict of a failed state.

18.00 EDT

Trump says he is 'entitled' to deport people without trials

Following an emergency order from the supreme court on Saturday blocking his administration from deporting suspected Venezuelan gang members without affording them due process, Donald Trump just told reporters that it is not possible to have trials for all of the people he wants to deport.

Asked by a reporter for the Daily Caller if he is happy with the rate of deportations, Trump thanked her for the question and repeated the baseless claim he has made in the past that foreign nations, including Venezuela and “the Congo”, have “emptied their prisons into the United States” and created an emergency that can only be dealt with by the emergency powers he claims the 1798 Alien Enemies Act affords him.

......we’re getting them out. And a judge can’t say: ‘No, you have to have a trial,’” he continued.

“No, we are going to have a very dangerous country if we are not allowed to do what we are entitled to do,” Trump concluded.'

Bad news for every American ...

It's like storytime at the library. Every week it's a different story. Donald and the Beanstalk. The President's New Clothes. Trumpelstiltskin.

Xi is very much enjoying holding ALL THE CARDS now

Gonna start looking like a nice victory lap to enjoy with the other threatened Asian nations.

Don't forget the tremendous optics of Boeing having to give a refund and fly it's planes back from China to Seattle.

How pizzed off is Boeing's CEO gonna be with Trump?

We have all heard that Trump doesn't even know where or what 'the Congo' is, right?

Apparently referring to the DR Congo, Trump said many individuals are arriving from the African nation, adding, “I don’t know what that is, but they came from the Congo and all over the world they came in.”

The DR Congo is the second-largest country in Africa, with more than 100 million people.

Trump ‘doesn’t know’ what Congo is

Trump needs those computer chips that use rare earth elements. The USA is trying to get them from India today. If he can't get the chips needed for military, drones, cars and airplanes, the USA has a big problem and China knows it.

"India’s 2024 production was 2,900 metric tons, unchanged from the previous few years. The country's output represents less than 1 percent of global rare earths supply. India’s rare earths production is far below its potential, considering the nation holds almost 35 percent of the world’s total beach sand mineral deposits, which are significant sources of rare earths."

Anyone remember Melania's photo-op wardrobe tour of Africa where she wore the really stupid pith helmet hat that was so offensive?

That's the level of engagement the Trumps have with Africa/

So the US sends the one person that is even more grating, condescending, and annoying than Trump for a PR visit?

It's like the new strategy for the day is toxic love bombing.

I guess Canada will be getting a huge box of greasy, sickly orange sweets, with a note saying "I Was Just Joking"

oooo the Boeing.... the Boeing.. cancelling an order for 179 Boeings , originally to be delivered by 2027.... the utter horror it must have caused to open up that little email from Beijing. One Hundred and Seventy Nine aircraft, I don't think I have enough zero's to do the figure... which really means, that Boeing will have to cut back on staff .,.. which means that aircraft built from now will be constructed from a depleted skill base..

China sending the aircraft back now, not even removing the livery is a particular Xi tactic.. !!

(This is what happened to Lockheed Martin back in the 70's.. they built the DC10. and Boeing was promoting the 787... anyways. the doors started to fall off the DC10's mid flight, a little problem with a latch, (Huge crash outside Paris , Turkish Hava Yollari airlne, 500 deaths,.. ) .. it sent Lockheed back out of the market of commercial aircraft... )

( I once found myself on a DC10 from LA to Honolulu, it was the most anxious flight I've ever been on, I couldn't believe they were still in service ) ..

Apparently, Trump is not aware that the US took in refugees from 'the Congo' in 2021 and 2022 ... some during his own presidency.

"About 12,600 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo arrived in the U.S. from fiscal years 2021 to 2022 (latest figures available).
Fiscal year 2021, which ran from Oct. 1, 2020, to Sept. 30, 2021, includes a few months of the Trump administration.
The numbers of refugees from the Republic of Congo were in the single digits annually for Trump and Biden. Refugees arrive in the U.S. legally and must pass security background checks before being let into the country."
