Maybe but his words were going down dirt roads and checking culverts.

Admittedly I'm making an assumption here that by dirt roads he differentiating between meant for vehicles and that's why he took the atv and not the car.

It could just be that they didn't mention it, but I heard nothing about checking hiding places inside the trailer, talking to gma, asking neighbors, etc

So, as it's been reported, I don't understand the mornings events starting with never seeing Jack.

In rural areas like that, dirt roads are for vehicles. Bush trails are for ATVs. Trails don't have culverts.

Actually, I think we have some locals on here, who could clarify. My daughter lives near this family, but she's an urban import, so might not be as familiar with the local speak.

Photos of the property show paved roads just past the driveway.

Absolutely THIS!! ∆∆∆∆

If I'm honest, I'm finding it a little frustrating reading these posts where "well known" Websleuth members are continually asking for more information..It has been said time and time again that RCMP keep their cards close to their chests, they do not hold regular pressers, they don't give out snippets and they ABSOLUTELY know what they are doing!
This is CANADA, the whole system operates differently, what may have worked/been apparent/statistics have shown/in previous cases a person may have followed etc does not imply that HERE IN THIS CASE, things will be the same.

Many posts ago, someone asked if anyone knew what day the bins were due to be emptied in this area...great Q.. could there be evidence in the rubbish?
Someone replied with a comment along the lines of.. "I live rurally and here the wagon doesn't come along regularly, one must ring for them"..in the USA!! How is this helpful?

I'm all for discussion and supposing "this or that" but until RCMP issue any more solid facts and information, we have to trust they have searched the entire trailers and their grounds (more than once), spoken to anyone they think could help nearby, checked the laundry baskets and wardrobes for missing clothes they may be wearing etc etc.

Sorry for being a grump..
I'm the one who asked what day garbage should have been picked up, and would still love to know. I trust that RCMP are on top of that and have secured the location in the landfill for where that trash would have gone.

I also trust at this point that all vehicles/trunks on property have been searched thoroughly, any appliances, debris piles, animal pens, the camper behind the trailer, and of course, the trailer itself.

I wish we had answers for these sweet "babies." (I realize they're not technically babies.)

Sometimes this discussion thread feels more like a debate thread but I trust that we are all here with the same interests in mind - in this case, Jack and Lily.

Hang in there, sleuthers - we all want the same thing.

There was a post that stated the garbage days in the area on the first thread. I will try to look for it later.

I think your post is well thought-out and fair enough.

When members are asking for information here , I believe they're checking to see if anyone has a link to msm with a new update, and that's usually all it is ?
I don't think anyone is expecting the the RCMP to provide any updates until they're ready to do so.
And thus we have to wait.
But since it's a true crime discussion thread, people are going to check in with questions such as what about searching out this area or that building, etc. ?
All perfectly understandable.
Again my opinion.

The point a member made (albeit from the U.S. ) about trash dump days is a good one and also one I hadn't considered.
There have been cases where someone was put there and never found.... and small children are unfortunately going to be difficult to find.

LE have not said this is a criminal case.
I'm certain they know more than we do and are working this case diligently !!

So far it's a missing case and at the end of the day 100 % of members here and elsewhere would like for the kids to somehow be found alive and well !
Imo.

I’d like to know if the stepdad was in constant communication with his significant other during his 10 minute drive. I’d like to think he was on the phone the whole time in case one of them found the kids.
Great point !!
It sounds like he turned his electronics over to LE so they must already know this ?
Omo.

I know "The Stepfather" rings a lot of alarm bells. The vast majority of stepfathers are good guys. Daniel has been in these children's lives since Jack was 1 and Lilly was 2. It's very likely he does consider them "his" kids and it's very likely he is the only father figure they've ever known.

For every one stepfather we hear about who is awful, there are tens of thousands more who are good men who are loved by their "step"children and who love them as their own.

But this stepdad has two missing step kids he didn't even see or hear on the day they were reported missing.

He's also one the last adults to see them for several days.

When I was little, I could not go out and play outside if I had been sick and didn't go to school. I wouldn't even have thought about it on my own, even at 6 years old. If only Jack had gone out, I could see that as he's too little to grasp that but also Lily is the one that was supposedly sick.

The other thing is the boot print. The kids live there, obviously there will be boot prints near the house. There's no way to "prove" that specific boot print is from that day.

I find it kind of unlikely that two kids would be randomly abducted that just happened to be outside and in such a rural area, jmo.

I’d be surprised if the were abducted by a random stranger. But it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities if the children were taken by a caring relative, believing the wellbeing of the children was at risk. This isn’t a situation that’s unheard of especially if it’s believed CPS isn’t taking proper action. In recent cases in Canada, the abductor didn’t come forward until after when the police located both them and the children.

I wonder this also because of something the maternal grandmother said, although I’m not sure when she said it as I notice most of the media stories have become scrambled with repeats of everything from a period of several days.
JMO

“Her mother, Cyndy Murray, also spoke to Global News and said the family was hoping for a positive outcome.”

There were four adults living there at the property, but yes,-- primarily the mom and partner would be the most responsible for laying eyes on them last.
Imo.

I was responding to this comment - “But this stepdad has two missing step kids he didn't even see or hear on the day they were reported missing.”

The mother of these two children should not be absolved of all responsibility of parenting just so the step father can be looked upon with suspicion.

5 days ago - CBC Nova Scotia - RCMP Update on search for missing Nova Scotia children

“[…] since the search began on May 2nd, it has been concentrated on the Gairloch Road area and has cover four square kilometres of heavy rural terrain.
[…] RCMP officers have continued with the missing person investigation...We have not received any confirmed reports of sightings.
[…] Lilly and Jack’s family have been provided with regular updates on the search and on the missing person investigation. They’ve also been afforded supports.
[…] Q -can you tell us like the roll of Major Crime in this and what you can tell us about that investigation
[…] A -Robert McCamon - Major Crime became involved very early in the investigation. ...there are certain areas that uh are going to be re-looked at. That could contain a confined area, perhaps, and maybe need some more specialized search areas….We’re going to continue pursuing any leads or information that comes in and the stuff that we do have.
[…] Q - are there any suspects here?
[…] A - I am not going to comment on the details of the investigation….When it comes to a missing person, we have to automatically consider uh, are there people that are have different Charter implications and things like that. So, we will automatically start to consider what evidence is pointing us towards a suspicious in nature. Again, I can’t comment more than that. But every missing person case, we would approach from the same process.
[Re terrain…]
I will note as well having had the opportunity to participate yesterday in a helicopter search as well, it is immensely clear, uh looking from above, uh, based on the orange tags on the trees how thoroughly and meticulously the area has been searched based on the indications you can see from even up in the air of how thorough the searches are. So I’ll give a hats off to the many, many searchers who have participated here um in support of finding Lilly and Jack.
[…] Q -Have cadaver dogs been involved at this point?
A -I don’t believe cadaver dogs have been involved at this point.
[…]Q -Could that be does that mean that no plan?
Not that I’m aware I can speak to if the cadaver dogs are coming or not. I can’t speak to it.

She is not absolved of responsibility.

The stepdad conversation started because a statement that it was just as likely that the kids were abducted as it would be for him to be a poi.

Additionally, stepdad has chosen to speak to the media more often which gives people something to discuss.
