Well considering it was listed at the remax office ran by his mother, and also that the owner of the home was friends with the mothers boyfriend at the time. Its 100 percent possible.
I can't remember and not even sure if it was made public or published... curious how many employees were at that office working at the time.

The listing agent needs their personal access card to put into the locbox prior to putting in the code. There is only one card issued to an agent so it could not be shared with a friend.
Do you know how the workers who were there got it? Or who let them in? Unsure we can discuss who let them in on the thread, but the listing realtor wouldn't have had to do it would they?

On another note, I'm so happy this thread is getting some action and discussion as it was so quiet over the years.

Let's keep this thread bumping!

Im not sure but its a big office if you look at it. There was probably more than 10 but I cant say for sure. The worst part is that just by 1 degree of separation Lindsay had so many shady people around her. Greg Martel, Zachary Scott Matheson, her best friend and receptionist at the remax camosun office dating Ovidio Acevedo, as well as the family in question. Her previous boyfriend being investigated within the BC Rail Scandal. There are too many angles to count. But if we use deduction I truly believe this case can be solved and I am dedicated to doing so.

But let's say if JZ was part of the plan or knew the plan, he could've shook off CO to not be with him.

I think CO was planted there on purpose but that was a huge risk IMO
Cohen being there could even more so be proof that Greg mightve been involved. He was best friends with Greg and worked in the same office with Jason and Greg. He either knew or was the perfect person to blindside and have as an alibi witness.

There's a link in this thread to a much more in depth summary about everything he's lied about. I recommend reading it. The case the internet got wrong

He lied about a lot of things. For one, he claimed Lindsay left him a letter that said she saw something she shouldnt have, yet he can't produce said letter. In fact, he told an admin on his site "that faux letter is certainly bothering some isn't it?" basically admitting he made the whole thing up. Those same admins would eventually quit because they stated they knew he was making a lot more stuff up all in hopes of proving his theory, which was largely baseless. Once they quit, Jeff contacted one of their family members and said that former admin was "involved in something very dangerous"...and they took it as a threat.

He also admitted to police he made a false confession to her murder online and alluded to a man named Ross Addicott.

He worked with the Casefiles podcast for the case, and basically wrote the script...refusing to let the show do it unless they went with his theories and "set of facts" which really shines a bad light on Casefiles.

There's other people who have been openly critical of Jeff for his muddying up the investigation. And he in turn, tracked some of these people down..one of them who was even posting anonymous...and then called that persons spouse's supervisor and coworkers and accused the said critic of being involved in the murder. He also went after one reporter and told her he hope she got bad publicity and more.

A true crime blogger/retired RCMP detective emailed him and introduced himself, offering to help. Before they even got into corresponding much, Jeff randomly showed up at his house unannounced and uninvited and basically began telling him the "real story". When this detective said he didnt believe everything Jeff was saying, he went home angrily and began referring to the former officer as "pee collector" because he had worked in drug and alcohol testing.
Shirley Zailo has also lied about a lot of things. She literally lied on A Channel or CHEK about knowing the tenant in the home she rented on Claude rd. The home that Ziggy Matheson was living in and selling/growing drugs in. Her sons best friend - she said she had no idea who the tenant was and had no connection to them. This was all after Lindsay's murder. Why are you associating with and providing a home for drug dealers and an actual murderer if you are this clean compliant and professional realtor? She does herself no favors, neither does her sister when she publicly posted that her sister and nephews are benefitting from the gains of money laundering.

The workers never had a key to the Desousa property. Joe Desousa was always around if they needed access. The home had been completed months earlier, and other than paint touch-ups there was nothing left to do.

Lindsay's dad may have lied about a few things, but in his defense the man was trying to draw out the conspirators who had planned his daughter's murder. Even more so, the killers who had slaughtered her. He lied for the right reasons, however Jason & his mother lied because they had a lot to hide. Personally, I would have gone to the ends of the earth to find out who murdered my child, even if that meant using some very unorthodox methods.

Wait what? Her best friend was dating Vid? JP? I don't think I knew that or I forgot over the years....

You and I have a very similar theory I think.

Exactly, I have such a hard time finding any fault in anything Jeff has done because I can only imagine what I would do in that situation - it would be alot messier than anything he has done.

Sorry to be vague there, I was referring to Rianne Gracia. And I dont know that they were best friends so I might not be 100 percent accurate there but definitely office friends. When you say JP were you referring to Parsons? We're they friends?

So JD and listing realtor had a key? Were they painting interior or exterior? If interior? What room(s) needed touch up I wonder?

I don't think touch ups require plastic laid out to protect floors but curious if any left behind.

100%... especially when it seems to be known who was involved and nothing being done about it :(

Mine evolves everyday that I spend time digging into this case (so daily lol). But I would love to know yours as well!

Oops my bad! I got mixed up.

Yes JP - I was referring to Parsons. I don't know if JP and GM knew each other. I was looking at the women connected to real estate and any motive and/or connection to GM or whoever was doing dirty business.

Wow. This happens to a realtor every few years. Always so sad.
I found another article with her photo. She was stunningly beautiful.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080205.wbcrealtor05/BNStory/National

The "rule" is, never meet a client in a vacant home without that client first meeting you at your office.

From the article, and this is really weird.

"Ms. Buziak apparently went to the newly constructed $964,000 home in the upscale neighbourhood on Saturday hoping to make a sale, after she agreed to help a female client find a million-dollar home before nightfall. The woman's identity has not been revealed, but sources at the real estate agency, Re/Max Camosun, said that Ms. Buziak found the woman's demands odd and the situation made her nervous."

I had an RE license for about 8 years before I became a parent. The chances of a legitimate buyer calling and needing to find a million-dollar home before nightfall is unheard of. This would have had my hinkey meter flying. I wish she would have listened to her instincts.... She was obviously targeted but why, she wasn't the listing agent. And a female "buyer" too, which is odd. I don't recall any news stories of a realtor being murdered by a female.
Bumping this and BBM above and below, can't access the article anymore.

I didn't realize the caller mentioned needing to make the deal by "nightfall".... Was that the word the murderer actually used? If so, strange choice of words.

Again, over the top, wannabe Hollywood movie script sounding. Why not "before it gets dark", "before the end of the day" or "before it gets late", "before Nightfall isn't an average day to day word used IMO. Was the planner/killer a fan of literature? Sounds old-fashioned or poetic as noted below.

And why before it was dark when you'd think the dark would put the killer to an advantage of not being seen ? Did they have bad eyesight and can't drive at night? Didn't know the area?

When I Google it here's some things I get:

1. "Nightfall" as a Common Literary Term
As a general literary device, "nightfall" has a somewhat poetic or old-fashioned sound and is a synonym for dusk, twilight, or the end of the day. Authors use it to:
  • Set the scene and time of day, often signaling a transition in mood or a deadline. Examples from literature include phrases like "Until nightfall it was too dangerous to move" or "By nightfall there may be thousands of them deep in the wood".
  • Evoke a specific atmosphere, frequently one of transition, mystery, or impending events, as the world moves from light to darkness.
2. Nightfall by Isaac Asimov (1941 short story and 1990 novel)

Maybe I'm waaaaaay overanalyzing and the term might not have even been used but got my attention!

If Lindsay's murder was not directly related to the Calgary drug bust, then I wonder if the person(s) who were responsible were hoping that the police would think it was.

The bust occurred in January of 2008 and had to have been aided—atleast in part—by the help of atleast one confidential informant. According to the Calgary police, on January 22 2008, officers intercepted a vehicle which contained 5 kilograms of cocaine and $105,000 in cash. They also raided a house that day. Inside, officers found a safe and cracked it open. They discovered 42 kilograms of cocaine and $112,000 in cash. In all, 67 kilograms (!!) of cocaine was confiscated by the Calgary police, which would've been worth about million on the street.

Only a few weeks later, Lindsay was murdered. However, obtaining an untraceable cellphone, selecting the hitters, choosing a location, conducting surveillance ─ all those things take time. Therefor, it's safe to assume that both events─the drug bust as well as Lindsay's murder─were in the planning stages prior to January 2008.

I wonder, what notable events in Lindsay's personal life coincided with this time frame? Well, according to Lindsay's father and close friends, she was thinking about breaking up with JZ. At the time, he was working as a mortgage broker alongside CO, the friend he was with when he found Lindsay's body.

According to information obtained by the Capital Daily:

Looking at Buziak’s digital life, the police noted that there were missing chat messages, though they were unable to determine when those files had been deleted. Facebook — still relatively new at the time — was another source of inquiry, and the Saanich Police noticed that from January 24, 2008 to February 3, 2008 — a span ranging from two weeks before Buziak’s death until one day after — “there were no messages from any of Buziak’s 700 friends …” (The messages being discussed appear to have been from Buziak’s “wall,” where friends could post messages seen by other friends). Given Buziak’s usual pattern of daily Facebook activity, investigators found this “very odd,” but it’s unclear what, if anything, they believe is responsible for the change.

That same article notes that in December, during Lindsay's trip to Calgary, she made an attempt to speak with the man who would end up being charged in the January bust. Could somebody have been laying the groundwork?

What if... the person(s) who planned Lindsay's murder is the same person(s) who tipped police off to that massive incoming shipment of cocaine? It would've been the perfect opportunity to set Lindsay's murder up and make it appear as though it was connected to the bust.

Danaya, your analysis makes a whole lot of sense, and I've had the same thoughts for a very long time. Rather than Lindsay's
murder being connected to the Calgary Drug Bust, it's more likely someone set her murder up to make it look that way. Like the experts on Dateline said, a lot of planning went into this murder, someone set this girl up. IMO that didn't just happen in a few days after the Calgary Drug Bust happened, this plan had been in the works since early December. November 2007 was about the time she was telling all her friends she was planning on leaving Jason, and it was about that time she supposedly saw something she shouldn't have. That DID NOT happen in Calgary, it happened in Victoria.

I wonder who the Saanich Police were talking about when they made their most recent statement to the public: "there are people out there who know what happened, but they are not coming forward. Who else could it be other than someone very close to Jason. Zachary (Ziggy) Matheson would be the first name that comes to my mind. Ziggy is like family to the Zailos so we know he won't be talking anytime soon. Not only Ziggy, but I am also certain that Greg Martel, the Ponzi scheme fraudster would have the information needed to put the conspirators away. He was Jason's best friend at the time of the murder. Unfortunately, he's fled the country.

RSBM and BBM above ^ are you meaning a CI (confidential informant) working with police or a confidential informed tip by someone anonymous? They are very different things and something I never thought of before... maybe that's why no arrest if even to this dy if there is/was a CI working with police and granted "immunity" for tip offs to catch the big drug fish. Maybe even still a CI working with police currently...Far fetched possibly though, especially to protect a CI from such a heinous crime.

Would it be possible she attempted to speak with him to seek protection for herself about someone else she was more scared of? Or even seek advice from about what to do? If she couldn't trust her inner circle and those she was closest to for protection, who better than to seek out? Not to sound sexist, but as a woman - maybe she thought this person might have some sort of weird honor code to protect women.

Or maybe Lindsey felt inclined to tip the person not about drugs but about violence. If Lindsay overheard a plan for a murder of someone else and fundamentally was opposed to murder (dealing drugs is one thing but murder is another level) and tried to warn the person because she had morals and didn't want to see anyone die.

This was incredibly risky for Lindsay... why? I think either to save herself and get herself protected or felt she was saving someone else. I don't think she'd go to those lengths to warn someone of a drug bust (maybe) but if someone was going to die, maybe...
