Which route did Lucas Fowler and Chynna Deese take out of Hudson's Hope?
Did they travel north along Highway 29 to Charlie Lake to join up with Highway 97, which is the Alaska Highway? Or did they take Highway 97 east to Dawson Creek, stop for a photo at the Mile Zero sign and head north on Highway 97, also passing Charlie Lake? Most travellers taking the Alaska Highway for the first time want that souvenir signpost photo.
I find the attempted abduction of a highway flagger on Highway 29 by two men in an older blue van very curious. RCMP have asked for dashcam footage from travellers who were near Charlie Lake (on the Alaska Highway) on Sunday, August 4, 2019. The blue van was seen headed towards Hudson's Hope after the attempted abduction.
The longer we go without charges against Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky in the shooting deaths of Lucas and Chynna, the more I am inclined to think that they might not be responsible. Two possibilities come to mind: that someone mistook one blue van for another and attacked LF and CD in a case of mistaken identity; or that blue van from Sunday has been cruising the highway for victims more than once.
Back in the late 1990s, a man viciously attacked and sexually assaulted a flagger in the Pine Pass. He was later declared a dangerous offender. He was from Chetwynd, IIRC.
I think this attempted abduction could be related to the murders of LF and CD, given the short time period since the murders. There could also be a copycat or two. It is possible.
