With the greatest respect to the gentleman from Cold Lake, he adds to his story every time he tells it. Surely one of the lessons of this case is that the “eyewitness” accounts, especially to journalists, are not reliable.

I’m not saying that anyone is lying, only that people have a tendency to say what they think the listener wants to hear, or what an interviewer leads them into.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the RCMP statements taken from all these people, but I suspect that they read rather differently.
Exactly how I interpret his growing story.

The father looks like a young Gord Lightfoot.

The were considered missing on July 19 when the truck was found burned, if I remember correctly.
They were declared missing on Sunday July 21st.

I got the vibe from Ste-Croix, even just reading the interviews he did, that he's the kind of person who automatically puts people at ease. I think that's why I feel so sad after reading that article, like I agree with his assessment that they probably felt bullied or isolated for a lot of their lives and didn't have enough positive interactions like that with people.

Honestly Bryer has kind of reminded me of an angrier Ziggy Sobotka from The Wire, and that's exactly what his character did (spoilers!)

If Ste-Croix disarmed them, then maybe their was tension if they happened to have an unpleasant interaction with the couple. By unpleasant I mean the guys being pesty, kinda weird and maybe creepy toward CD even.

Oh that Ziggy was a hot mess and a total screw up! Great show and I can see that as well about BS.

I have no idea if Ste-Croix account is true but I believe it's easier to speak now that the teens are deceased.

I think it's possible he was advised not to speak during the live investigation. He also strikes me as somebody that would contact his lawyer before going to report the incident at RCMP. MOO
I'm always reminded of the key female witness who spotted OJ Simpson in his white bronco, near the scene of the murders. Prosecutors were going to use her as a witness - that is - until she spoke to a paid interview - and Marcia Clark had to regretfully remove her as a credible witness. The lady herself was hugely remorseful that she took money for her information.

I don't know as much about what caused the foam or bubbles except to say it sounds like she did not die instantly. I suspect she had some additional head trauma, though, based on some gesturing the man did when he was being interviewed. He motioned toward his jaw, which made me think she had a significant injury there, and his reluctance to talk about it also indicated to me it was a pretty nasty injury and one he didn't want to talk about publicly.

Like maybe a slashing of some kind...?

Early interviews mentioned that they stopped at Pink Mountain. Perhaps they sent photos via social media. It would have been during the afternoon of July 13 since they purchased gas that evening at Fort Nelson.
When I first read online about them being killed I was at work. Then we got reports about Kam and Bryer missing. I was on FB Global BC and read someone who said she seen them all camping at Pink Mountain. I tried to scroll back but FB wouldn't let me go that far back. Sorry I know FB isn't valid for 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and it's gossip. But would like to know if people seen the 4 of them camping at the same time.

Lucas and Chynna worked minimum wage jobs with all kinds of young men and women. This scenario is very unlikely.

Based on all available reports, KM/BS were far more likely to stop at any roadside vehicle at night, with bad intentions.

It is far less likely that they somehow met, and KM/BS started stalking Lucas/Chynna. Such meeting could have taken place anywhere, from Hudson's Hope on July 13 to Fort Nelson on July 14.

Pink Mountain camping area is between Hudson Hope and Fort Nelson. They were at Fort Nelson on Jan 13 and camped between Fort Nelson and Liard Hot Springs overnight July 13/14. There's no way that Lucas and Chynna stayed at Pink Mountain overnight, although I think the owner said they bought snacks.

Can anyone find a campground between those two points, or did they camp in a pullout the first night? Camping without a campground, I know not many agree with me, but I want to say WHAT were they thinking. Canada is not NYC, but it's also not the land of rainbows and unicorns.

July 13. And, if BS and KM left early on the 12th to catch the first ferry (which is almost half price btw) and drove straight through it’s possible the could have reached Pink Mountain for the 13th as well. IMO
It's in the Peace and close to Hudson's Hope where Lucas worked.

I think you’re a day off.
Tourist couple found dead off B.C. highway were ‘happy’ and ‘confident,’ bystanders say

A worker at Pink Mountain said they stayed there.

Is there a photo of it burned? Every single photo I've seen shows only an empty bed on the back of the truck. Was it burned away from the pickup truck in a different location? There are a lot of threads to get through, this is a popular topic.

Is the photo in this news article supposedly the burned contents of the camper?

Yes that is a photo of what’s left of the camper.

I wondered about how he survived, until one of our members posted the location upthread. I now believe that the reason he wasn't shot is probably because of the location; too many people in the area. Had it been a remote location, I suspect he might not have been so fortunate, assuming they still had a weapon.
Also telling him to stand 100 feet away, out of range. He would have looked suspicious creeping closer.

I've wondered that too. We have a 24 and 23 year old couple, and an 18 and 19 pair. Maybe Kam was seen at their van at 11:30PM on July 14. The road worker described a Caucasian bearded man close to the height of Lucas (6'3") standing in the middle of the road. It was dark. Maybe Bryer was standing farther away, maybe he had a 22.

One person has out stretched palm up hands, the situation looked acrimonious. What happened?

The couple were really quite vulnerable being stranded on the roadside with a broken down vehicle, even in good ol' Canada. You can be a sitting target if the wrong person comes by.

Hypothetical here... If the guys just happened to drive by, maybe they even offered to help the couple, got to chatting, maybe even had a beer and then BS starts creeping the girl out (which I would probably get creeped in that situation), maybe the guys wouldn't leave, maybe couple wanted to sleep, who knows.

It happened in the Raspberry/Kelloway crime... it's all good times then a hothead loses his head and things quickly turn violent.

1. The RCMP to this date have not released to the public on which route Kam & Bryer took up north.
2. Can someone help me understand why there is a thought they committed the first murders for robbery? The great uncle in his interview said they had significant cash with them. I just don't feel that robbery as a motive is a viable reason. I see robbing Mr. Dyck's Rav4 as having a viable reason for them, but not in the Liard murders.

The timing is perfect given that the story was international on July 18 and they stole the Rav4 the following day.

I think they drove North to leave the area after murdering Dyck, but Dyck's body was 2 km South of the burning truck.
They wouldn't risk driving back through Deese Lake, Watson Lake and Fort Nelson again, since they all host RCMP detachments. That route would also be several hundred km longer to Dawson Creek, you could calculate.

My previous hunch is in a wide area map of BC/AB. They almost certainly continued south from Stikine River, and rushed to Alberta before July 19 turned into July 20.

I could see that happening. But then where does the duo aspect go into all this? Did just one of them actually commit the shooting and the other one willingly threw away their life for no reason? I know they were really close, but....I feel like both of them were involved somehow. That's why robbery gone wrong seems like the likely answer to me. Because even if only one of them turned it from a robbery to a homicide, they have that felony murder law where both of them would be charged with murder.
