Bryer was hurt a lot in his life -- including the revelation that he was bullied in school and probably turned to this militia stuff to try to feel more powerful -- and he lashed out and hurt other people. That's exactly what a lot of us have been saying this whole time. My guess is, Kam was probably bullied too -- I've strongly suspected it the entire time and have even said so on here before.
Yea no surprise Breyer was bullied.... I mean he was a perfect target. Kam not so much though, but it would definitely make sense for that to be at least one element that kept them so bonded. Being bullied is a special kind of Hell and it’s just another terrible truth in Bryer’s short life. MOO

I think it seems disjointed because it is poorly edited. They go from one sound byte and video snippet to the next without very smooth segue ways.

I’m always more curious about what was cut than what gets aired.

<modsnip: rude>

I guess I would really liked to have had a conversation with both Kam and Bryer to see where they were at on a cognitive level because it's very difficult to get an impression based what I've seen and heard. (Yet another reason I want to see the videos.)

The impression I've gotten is, neither of them were cognitively impaired (I don't know what the technical term is for it these days but you guys know what I mean), and were probably both of average intelligence. I do believe they had a lot of potential in life. However I believe they both had dyslexia judging by their spelling on Instagram and Steam, and I also believe Bryer had ADHD. I also believe they were both bullied and their bad grades and Bryer's dropping out had a lot to do with that, and that's why they were put in the alternative school. Not to mention, nothing hits cognitive performance harder than depression, and I think they were both very, very depressed.

Speaking of the videos, Alan's enthusiasm when she brought that up tells me the videos were recorded on Bryer's phone.

I'm pretty sure he actually said they were.

Now in regards Alan apologizing to everyone, it's hard to say if he's apologizing for everything that has happened or he's apologizing that his son helped kill three people.

I think he's "sorry for the whole 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 world" as Phil Anselmo would say. As in, the apology was supposed to be all of those things, and also being sorry that he couldn't save Bryer as he said in his second interview.

I do wonder though, was he foreshadowing what he saw in the video clip. What Kam and Bryer confessed?

Survey says...yes. JMO. And a confession of guilt for sure. If Bryer had said anything about being innocent, his dad wouldn't be speaking as if he were guilty.

Kam seemed to be more socially savvy, although that could have been an acquired skill, but he was also described as shy, not particularly popular, and into "dorky" interests. Plus I mean...anyone who is best friends with Bryer has to be weird. I could see him being bullied too. In fact I would be very surprised if he wasn't. I think he and Bryer were so close because there were many times in their lives where their only friend was each other. JMO.

It seems that Kam acted as Bryer's protector, up to and including getting him out of PA.

I’m not so sure I believe AS, that just because a cellphone without a service provider can call 911, it can also be traced by police. The only reason a 911 call will go through is because all cell towers are programmed to receive and transmit 911 calls. But without dialing 911, a serviceless cellphone is not pinging celltowers along the way, just in case 911 is dialed.

If AS purchased the phone and has some sort of proof of ownership can he activate the minutes for pay-as-you-go without physically having the phone?

I can’t imagine how because the actual cellphone is required to input the PIN, in order to activate the minutes.

Ok so could he purchase minutes and send the PIN via text and if BS connected to wifi he would be able to activate?

I have stepped away from this case for the last few weeks, but IIRC 60 Minutes Aus. was with him for the time (weeks) before the bodies were found, so it's possible they provided that counsellor right away. As for when the RCMP got in touch with him personally, it seems that he may have a point that they should have contacted him sooner, whether it was a week after they were declared missing/suspects or a week after they found their bodies. He may have had information that could have led to finding them sooner. JMO

If I recall correctly, during the July 24th interview AS said he’d spoken with police that same morning, presumably when he was informed his son had become a murder suspect. Does anyone remember this?

As to AS, he doesn't seem confused to me. Heck, I can't even see traces of mental illness in him. He has a quirky, direct, honest-with-a-smidgeon-of-snark way of communicating that is very direct. I personally don't detect a bit of mystery-man in him. I think that what we see is what we get with him, and he is as real as can be. His world and outlook on this whole thing is understandably changing daily as he processes what he knows and what little is being told, so the things he says change accordingly.

He is not an actor and we are not Rotten Tomatoes. Give the man some credit for being real while navigating a world of pain on a daily basis. He's right, there WERE two boys there and AS doesn't know enough about what happened to know who influened who - and how. I'm not trying to make him a hero at all. I'm not trying to mold him into anything. I'm looking at a real man in real pain and I'm watching him give us what he can. If anything, I see generosity in his willingness to share to this extent. And I do NOT see him as a poor, pathetically tragic figure, either. He's a guy that got shoved into the middle of a four-lane highway without notice and he's running back and forth between lanes and cars, trying to stay alive and keeping from getting hit. JMO

Good question! I think it would be possible. Plus virtually every fast food restaurant has free wifi accessible even from their parking lots, plus municipal libraries as well. It’s pretty commonly known. Shaw and Telus both offer hotspots in most towns as well. Wi-Fi is fairly accessible along travel routes, for those without cell service.

Interesting how Cs brother has said his family welcomes a bit of a reprieve. The opposite of AS who wants answers, perhaps even hoping his son might be somewhat vindicated. I can understand how Cs family welcomes a bit of time because once the shock of the tragedy begins to lessen, they’ll be in a stronger frame of mind to process information which they don’t really want to hear. Sadly, I’m not so sure AS is ready either.

“Stetson said he believes the RCMP's investigation will at least offer more resolution about why it happened.

The family isn't in a rush to see the probe wrap up, he said. They all had to return to their jobs and could use a break for a few weeks, as they try to find moments of distraction from the tragedy.

"It's been heavy lately. This whole month, the air has been really heavy. So, if it lightens up a little that would be nice and then maybe within another month or so we can hear something else.''...”

This is interesting that there was nothing on social media. I don't really think they had a large circle of friends, but you would think there would be something. IMO

Yeah that's what I thought. If they lived in PA their whole life I was expecting some concern and public posts being shared to find them when they were missing, as that's what usually happens on FB. Those posts usually spread like wildfire!

I see my friends all the time sharing missing people posts for all kinds of people, all ages from different locations, just trying to help spread the word and get the faces out there for the public to see!

I don't think it is actually. Depending on what company the pay as you go is through, they usually have 1-800 numbers. My boys had pay as you go that we did monthly for a long time, never needed their phone to top it up, just called the 1-800 number on the back of the card and put in the phone number I was topping up.

I sure hope LE assigned a contact to AS but as he said he did not have contact with police until a week later and we aren’t sure if that’s a week after his sons death or a week after they fled.

If AS had to leave messages with a general tips line or detachment and/or there was delay in his messages being properly directed (or even ignored) then there really should be an inquiry or whatever it will be classified as. JMO.

This is a really good point. I have an American pay-as-you-go phone, and though I usually add minutes directly from the phone via text or through an online account, you can also call a number to add time without the phone.

So, in theory, even if Bryer was out of minutes, that wouldn't mean there was no way for anyone to add minutes for him.

<modnsip: quoted post was removed> I'm in southern Saskatchewan and when you get outside of the cities, depending on which provider you use, coverage can be terrible. They drove through Northern Saskatchewan, which is probably worse. Places like Meadow Lake where they were spotted at the Co-Op, I would guess it might ping if it was on and he used the phone, but still unsure.

Yep, even the RCMP could have added minutes to his phone... a family member, any family member...

Anyway, back on topic:

I wonder if the question of tracking their phones is irrelevant? They were named missing two days before they were in Gillam. Perhaps LE were still putting together evidence. Perhaps it takes longer than we think to put a trace on the phone?

If it were as simple as tracing a signal, and a signal was available, they wouldn’t have brought in the army to look for them. Not sure if this is a redundant fact but anyway. I’m sure RCMP would have thought of that (if we did, they did).

The pace at which they moved was excessively speedy, leaving not much time for action on the part of RCMP while they were on the move.

I don’t know how these things work (and am admittedly too tired to think at this time)

I would honestly be very shocked if RCMP didn't track their phones--or make an attempt to. I can see how the patchy coverage through where they were driving would have been an issue.
