So, why did K&B remove the young couple's dead bodies from the van? Perhaps to display their kill, but besides being very hard work, they would end up covered in blood, unless they were wearing hazmat suits.

Also, if their bloodlust was then in overdrive, why drive nearly 500 miles before they killed again?

Speculation on my part and probably too far fetched, BUT...aren't there gangs that require new members and recruits to commit acts of violence or murder to "prove their worthiness" to become members? I'm seeing this crazy scenario where someone needing a drug "runner" targets young adults in dead-end, poorly paying jobs (a la Walmart). B&K agree, and do the run to Whitehorse to "deliver" said drugs. They are then instructed to perform the initiation rites if they want more money and "assignments" - under threat of turning them in to police for the drug running or suffering harm themselves.

Perhaps they lost hope because this gang, operating at such a debased level, would have physically gotten to them and harmed or killed them, even if they were in jail. So they knew they were goners, whether they turned themselves in or not.

‘We have five deaths here. This is all preventable’: Breyer Schmegelsky’s father speaks out

And do you think that KM was gifted with the gun/s and ammo, with the fervent best wishes from a proud dad, have a good trip , son, bag some elk, or... were those weapons surreptitiously acquired and not missed until that horrid phone call from the RCMP?

I think he took them without permission.

If they didn’t have blood on them from carrying out bodies then I think the shooters threw a large rock (large river stones in the ditch shown in photos) through the back window. CD and LF are startled by this and make an attempt to escape the front of the van and are shot upon exiting. Less cumbersome for them to be carried out. They could have also been shot and still mobile and directed to exit the vehicle on their own.

Gangs and other networks typically require some sort of initiation to prove their worth. Drug running, money drops, weapon transport, would be something for more “trustworthy” already initiated members I think.

Although a verboten subject, there could also be an online kill group with an initiation process.

I think this would make more sense then drug related gangs.

Yes, all within the realm of possibility. Available photos also indicate that Lucas Fowler was an imposing man physically, indicating that the shooters probably took him down first.

Might also explain the public display of bodies, and perhaps the burning of vehicles.

I didn't know this was against TOS. I will go back and delete my original post; thanks for pointing it out!

I believe you have up to an hour after you make a post to edit it.

Hi Sleuths!

I was backpacking around Europe for a month and am terribly behind on the case. I definitely do not have time to go through all the threads. I left right around the time they found the bodies and deemed it suicide.

From what I can gather, we are really no closer to "why" except for the troubled up bringing and that Kam and Bryer have a non released video of their last wishes only available to family.

Would anyone be so kind to get me up to speed with anything I may have missed?

While travelling and having all the experiences I did, I thought of them and was saddened by the waste of their lives from the road they went down. Theyll never be able to experience the beauty life has to offer.

Backpacked around the Baltics and thought of Chynna and Lucas meeting in Croatia. So very very sad.
All you have missed is page after page of speculation. Nothing really new fact wise.

Considering they drove to northern Manitoba in the stolen car belonging to the murder victim, stealing guns from somebody else wouldn’t be out of realm of possibilities, that’s for sure.

Let us not forget that there was a report from Port Alberni that Bryer and Kam were witnessed allegedly purchasing a gun. I'm not sure if this was ever confirmed because it came out almost a month ago and then was quickly forgotten but as it stands we still don't know. We also don't know if Kam took a gun from a family collection. Perhaps but his parents have said nothing publicly (and rightly so.) It's also entirely possible they acquired a second gun from Lucas and Chynna. We don't know that either but it remains a possibility. Also where was it stated that Leonard's death was a result of "gun violence?" All I recall reading and hearing to date is he was "brutally murdered." As far as I was aware nothing had been released per his family's request but his cause of death had been established. Even if it was gun violence that doesn't necessarily mean he was shot. He easily could have been beaten with a handgun or rifle. I also get this sense that strangulation was a possible method, but like all of this, it's pure speculation. I mean if Leonard was killed in the early afternoon are you really going to fire a gun off in broad daylight? I get that it's remote country but still. That just seems so brazen to me. You may as well fire off a flare gun into the sky while you're at it. Not to mention, trying to picture Kam and Bryer approaching Leonard in a threatening manner in the daytime just sounds so completely ridiculous. Me personally, I couldn't take them seriously. I'd be like; "Hey, you guys wanna hang out, drink some beers and smoke cigarettes and talk." I get Leonard also could have been killed Thursday night the 18th but why would they kill him, leave him so visible to the road and then wait all night until the next afternoon to light everything up and flee. If Leonard was indeed killed in cold blood and not accidentally. I've said before, the manner in which they fled makes it seem as though they killed him early Friday afternoon and Kam and Bryer were out of there and on the road in under an hour. I have to wonder also, did they attempt to fit any of their own stuff in the RAV. Other than the suit, we don't even know what was in those "boxes" as reported by the checkpoint officers.

That was hard to watch. Very , very hard. And that's all to be said, since AS is not a suspect.

And if it turns out that they actually left Port Alberni with the guns, having acquired them there, along with the ammo, then that would indicate some level of premeditation in the light of their future use of that weaponry.

It might turn out that they left PA precisely because they had the guns. Never mind the weather, or no jobs lined up in Whitehorse, or Yukon, or wherever, never mind the jobs they currently held , or Gran , or dad, or whomsoever, never mind the lack of working capital, in that they didn't have that much money, really, …….

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but there is a blurred out tire iron near the rear smashed window.
