Well, up until the area was locked down. Not exactly sure on the timeline but I sense they had plenty of time to travel before that happened and could be anywhere now. There is doubt however because there seems to have been no reports of a stolen vehicle unless it involved another homicide and its not been discovered yet. I don't think they would be hiding in the bush as that's a no win situation and I think they would know that. Just my opinion.
They don’t seem to be the sharpest knives in the drawer but they are still kids really albeit psychotic murders.

We don't know really the cops could have them in custody already. But they wouldn't tell the public that for quite a Time afterwards probably.
The public is so upset about this situation, I think they would announce it right away or the press would get hold of the info. There have been considerable leaks to the press.

If this is correct, on Tuesday the RCMP learned of the sighting at the gas station which occurred the day before. Then shortly after that, Tuesday, same day, the car was reported burning. So it appears the RCMP were aware the suspects were in or around Gillam while they were still there. Which presumably could be the reason the RCMP continue to focus on Gillam and area.

Manitoba RCMP finds burned vehicle of men wanted in connection with three northern B.C. deaths

RSBM

BBM - according to the article the vehicle was actually found on Monday night.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Cpl. Julie Courchaine said the grey 2011 Toyota RAV 4 the suspects had been travelling in was found burned near Gillam on Monday night.

RCMP may not have found out until Tuesday or made the connection on Tuesday?

And another difference is our stringent confidentially laws in Canada I notice are different than the US. Plus our entire political system is much different as well. Canada was once a British colony and The Queen remains our Head of State. But entirely OT.
I agree that the difference in privacy is perhaps one of the biggest factors in how much they have to say about the investigation. I always just assume it's a given this info will come out, so I was initially surprised about the publication ban announced, though it makes sense.

The car in Gilliam was called in pretty quickly when it was found on fire. Unless they rigged it to somehow smoulder awhile before breaking out in fire the police couldn’t have been far behind them.

“They both stopped in, and they came to my till and he just asked to gas up $20,” Keeper said. “And that Bryer guy, he asked me ‘Is alcohol allowed here in the community?’ because there’s a big sign at the truck stop there, ‘No bootleggers or drug dealers,’ he was asking about that. I said ‘No, it’s not allowed here because it’s a dry community.’ That’s it. They paid for their gas and they left.”

She said they didn’t seem suspicious and added it wasn’t until Tuesday, when Schmegelsky and McLeod were named suspects in the deaths of two tourists and an unidentified man in northern B.C., that she realized she’d had a brush with accused killers.

“After I realized that it was them, I felt really scared,” Keeper said......

.....“A burned-out vehicle was later found near Gillam, on the territory of the Fox Lake Cree Nation, shortly after Mounties in Manitoba reported a possible sighting of the pair. At the press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Courchaine confirmed it was the RAV 4 McLeod and Schmegelsky had been travelling in. Officers recovered the vehicle after receiving reports of a car on fire near the reserve...”

In addition to petrol stop at Mountain Jade, the teens were also at "Super General Store" at 3:15pm that day.

I don’t think you meant to refer to USA as a Commonwealth country? Unless there’s another USA I’m overlooking?

And, due to the First Amendment, ‘sub judice’ is much less of an issue, here. The silence before a trial is usually due to the prosecution not wanting to talk about evidence, for strategic reasons, and the defense not wanting to talk about evidence, also for strategic reasons. The press is usually fairly free to ferret out whatever they can.

MOO

nooooo.. I phrased it incorrectly.. While the USA legal system is based on the British system, ( as opposed to say, the French Napoleonic system ) I unreservedly excuse the Yanks from any implied membership of the Commonwealth of nations, indeed, or any desire, plan, discussion of same.

Someone posted tonight that the RCs were looking for a green car....then all of a sudden the post was gone or edited. I enquired about the car but no one answered,

Is this what’s leading people to think the suspects might be in Ontario? This Alert was issued when it was known they’d travelled east from BC to Saskatchewan.

Ontario police issue public safety warning as B.C. murder suspects move in 'easterly direction'
“A public safety warning has been issued in Ontario as police believe two men accused of killing a young couple and an unknown man in northern British Columbia are heading in an “easterly direction.”

On Wednesday, Ontario Provincial Police issued the warning stating that Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, were last seen in Meadow Lake, Sask.”

*****

But the condensed version now has the suspects possibly travelling eastward from Manitoba, in the way it reads. Shoddy reporting IMO.

“Northwestern Ontario OPP have issued a public safety alert as a national search continues for two British Columbia murder suspects last seen in Manitoba, and believed to be travelling eastward.”

What is unclear is if on Monday they were looking for these 2 in a silver RAV4? We found out Tuesday they were suspects, but is that because they made that connection on Tuesday morning? Monday night? This still gives time for them to get out of there IMO I am having a hard time believing that they decided they could survive in the wilderness and left on foot after setting the vehicle on fire, I really am concerned we are going to find out they took another vehicle and there will be another victim/victims.

I have always thought they would go to Ontario or Quebec when I realized they were heading eastward. They are the largest provinces and many cities they could blend in. Toronto and Montreal for example.

At 18 and 19 years old from Port Alberni, they might chose rural, remote areas over highly populated unfamiliar urban areas (reasons such as transit, traffic, where to stay, etc). Montreal, likely not, unless they happen to be bilingual.

Plus by now I imagine they’re flat broke. I’ve noticed nothing to indicate these two would be considered street smart in any way. If they were they wouldn’t have found themselves on a oneway road to Gillam. JMO

Yes you could be right. But the cops have also withheld information for a few days as well. For example the crime scene 50 km north of where the lone man was killed. Cops are investigating that spot and nobody is what they're doing at that spot. So the cops definitely pick and choose what information to let out. Hopefully if two young men are caught the police would let the public know right away. But the cops may take them into custody, interview, charge them with the couple's murder and who knows what other charges before telling public.

Valid points. Many cabins and cottages in rural areas in northern Ontario and Quebec that they could break into. There is usually some canned food items etc in cabins/cottages.

Sandflies aka NoSeeums
These damn things bite and leave an itchy itchy rash that can get infected. They call them noseeums because you just can't see him until after the bastards bite you.
