The very first report was that the witness saw two people "scuffling" around at the dump. He wasn't sure what he was seeing. He checked the suspect's description and confirmed the description matched the people scavenging at the dump.

The suspects apparently were unconcerned about the witness and his vehicle, and after the witness confirmed their identities, they ran into the trees. That's hard to believe. The suspects would have been watching for vehicles in the distance and disappeared before anyone could get close enough to confirm that they were the suspects.

One would think, yes. But criminals have done dumber things. If they didn't run instantly, it supports a theory that they are very tired, brain fogged and running out of energy and plans. It does sound like it was all happening fairly quickly. If they were there and it was daylight, that right there shows a willingness to be seen. That's why they call it cat and mouse, though.

The Bear Clan people, who are not local, may just be mistaken. The big problems with this sighting are the clothing, given the weather, and what would be involved in walking to York Landing. The scenario screams out hypothermia. For whatever reason, no doubt based on interviews with these witnesses, analysis and the results of the search overnight and today, the RCMP appear to have lost confidence in this sighting being correct.

It’s fairly warm at night, 11 to 15 celsius. If they can stay dry there is no risk of hypothermia

From jump this story has been mesmerizing. At this point most of us are borderline obsessed. :D:D:D

If you are still just borderline obsessed... well done LOL I crossed the border a few days ago into fully obsessed!

This never really made any sense to me.. why would a guy who's running from LE trying to stay low murder two people in BC? From what i've read it sounds like he's wanted for a single murder in the states, its not like we're talking about a serial killer where this fits a pattern or anything

Right. Like, why would he want to bring attention to himself by now committing a double murder in Canada in addition to the murder in Texas. I think his dream come true would be that LE forget about him altogether.

That’s just tonight, look at the weather over the last seven days. Out in the open, without proper clothing, they would be dead by now.

Why would they suddenly run when he "confirmed" their identities if they were previously unconcerned? How would they know he had "confirmed their identities"?

Here is the Manitoba Winter Road map which includes the area where the RAV4 was burned:

https://www.gov.mb.ca/mit/winter/2018maps/map2.pdf

https://www.gov.mb.ca/mit/winter/2018maps/map3.pdf

https://www.gov.mb.ca/mit/winter/2018maps/map.pdf

This is an incredible network of roads and the maps also show the RR through the region.
@otto, the last winter map listed (entire region) shows the RR lines including stops along with major non winter roads. Heading towards Thompson and points W/SW makes alot of sense as if you then are able to jack a car you could get to Winnipeg with no issues via hwy on a straight shot S or head W.

I haven't been picturing an over-cab camper. I've been picturing the type that only covers the bed. I think there were pictures. Anyone know where to find pictures?

Boy, that was fast! Thanks Minn!
That would be a truck topper!
A truck camper usually sleeps 4-6 people depending on size!! Some have port a potties and others have a full washroom!

Junk yard on York Landing, Manitoba... gives you an idea of the sort of terrain the teen fugitives may have fled into when they were disturbed by the search volunteers (if indeed it was them).@9NewsAUS @TheTodayShow

Okay I've had to be away from the internet for several hours, so just checking in. Last I heard, RCMP was unable to verify the sighting. Is that the last news? :(

Some York Landing residents believe the men went back into the woods. A 12-year-old girl told police she saw one of the men running through the bush behind her home. RCMP have found no trace of the suspects and sighting remains unsubstantiated #yorklanding #Canadamanhunt

The search was intense again this morning, as police scoured the area by foot, vehicles, quads and boats. A drone, helicopter and the military's Hercules scanned from the sky. #YorkLanding #Canadamanhunt

The intensity of the search diminished in the afternoon. Significant police resources will remain in York Landing tonight, but many officers will return to Gillam on Tuesday and regroup. #yorklanding #Canadamanhunt

I fear we are potentially turning murder victims into suspects without a shred of evidence and therefore ignoring the possible signs of the actual suspect(s) IMO

I like #1 or #4!
The thing that distracts me from #1 is the extremely heavy police presence in N Manitoba. I find it difficult to fathom that the RCMP would be spending so much time and money to focus on that area. There has to be something they are not sharing with the public to keep all resources in one place for so long. JMO

Sorry, I meant Split Lake. I keep getting horrific murders mixed up.

The lows for the past week were 11-12 Celsius. The highs were 18-32. Too warm for hypothermia or death, especially given the daytime temps and you spend the night near some rocks that have absorbed the daytime heat, or lie under some tree limbs or leaves
